John Carlson is back from vacation and I'll be his first guest!
Tune in this afternoon at 3pm, KVI 570.
Posted by Stefan Sharkansky at January 04, 2005 12:26 PM | Email ThisIf Doug's post is correct, there is almost 200
ballots that will be disqualified, and 500 more
suspected felonious ballots! The number of
disqualified ballots is, apperently, now well
over the margin of victory. [Military ballots
sent but either not returned or counted between
Gray's Habor and Yakima counties themselves
constitute more than the margin of victory.]
What to do about that fact is now a politcal
matter for the legislature to decide.
The facts are circumstances are now nearly
identical to the circumstances in North
Carolina. The basic facts are that the Republican
won by over four thousand votes, but the early
vote total in one county magically disappeared
from the database. Over six thousands ballots
were lost. The Democrat protested the election.
Any statistical analysis of the lost vote would
indicate that the Republican won the election
with mathematical certainty. [You could run
a spread sheet of every counties election day
percentages, and early vote percentages. That
could yield a reasonable estimate the percentages
of the lost vote. It could be confirmed by an
analysis of the early/election-day vote for that
county in past elections.] But, the Democrats
who ran the election board did not do such an
analysis. They stated that if the number of
missing ballots exceeds the margin of victim the
election was in doubt. They changed the rules for
ordering a new election on a party-line vote in
order to mandate a new election on a party-line
vote.
The Democratic party of Washington must be held
to the same standard the Democratic party of
North Carolina choose for adjudicating such
elections: if the number of illegal ballots
exceeds the margin of victory a new vote must
be held. If they don't, they must be called on
their hypocrisy!
On a second front, the Democrats will almost
certainly try to claim that even if all of the fraudulent ballots were subtracted Gregroire
would have won. In order to do so they will
almost certainly contact some Democratic
double-voter and solicit him, or her, to publicly
apologize for voting for Dino Rossi twice! That
person will now have a chance to cast four
votes for Christine Gregoire: the two on
election day, and the two subtracted from Dino's
total. This fraud can partially be innoculated
by stating upfront that it is going to happen.
[The GOP should investigate whether double-voters
contributed money to Democrats, or placed
political bumper stickers on their cars, etc.]
Don't let them cheat on the PR battle!
or is kvi still in the dark ages?

Posted by: mavrik on January 4, 2005 01:55 PMI'll be sure and tune in. I find John to be an entertaining host and rarely miss his program.
Also as a side bar and slightly off topic - several people have jumped on me for being from "Florida". This is true - however after my career in the Navy ended I could have chosen anyplace in the world to settle down. I decided to raise my family on the Kitsap Penninsula - truly God's Country. Secondly, I voted for almost as many reps as I did dems in the last election - so the accusations of being a party hack don't cut it.
Posted by: FlaRich on January 4, 2005 03:00 PMAnyway, listening now. You sound great Shark!
Posted by: megs on January 4, 2005 03:06 PMNo matches in any of these searches. Seems like a made up name to me. You would think there would be at least one person with the name Ocoilain in all of Google. And it's not like we are talking about some obscure remote island tribal name here that would be unlikely to be in Google. Generally, names that start with O are of Irish descent and there should be plenty of hits to these names on Google.
Hey Democrats, when you make up names, at least use names that exist.
Sheesh, this just gets more and more bizzare.
Shark, you sounded great on John Carlson. Good work.

Posted by: VaCSProf on January 4, 2005 04:12 PMI specifically asked for
a list of all X County voters who submitted ballots in the Nov. 2, 2004 election. This list should include [certain data items] for each voter, as of the day of the election[Posted here: http://www.soundpolitics.com/archives/003315.html
OK, I added the apostrophe in and searched for O'Coilain on Google, Yahoo, Yahoo People Search, etc.
I found one matching entry in the Google Web search, something about Ireland. That's all of Google, 8 Billion web pages.
What are the odds of there being someone by this name in Precinct 1823, when there is no reference to it anywhere on the Web, except for this one entry in Google, and even that only pops up if you add the apostrophe, which is not the way it is listed in the King County database?
Something smells. Between this and the handwriting experts brought in to analyze absentees, that appear to have found 400 or so signatures signed by the same hand, the FBI will be taking this one from here.
Gregoire, ouch, maybe concession would have been better, this just might end your political career.
Posted by: Jeff B. on January 4, 2005 06:41 PMOh, the odds are low. I think it smells too. I was only responding to your comment "Hey Democrats, when you make up names, at least use names that exist." Point is, one may exist.
Even if there is a homeless Irishman in WA, I'd say he voted twice (or someone voted for him). Of course, it could be a father/son or some other relationship, only why would they be registered at different addresses, yet so close?
Another posibility for why there is one: O'Coileain (in other words, add the E). It is a big Irish name. If there really was a homeless person the "e" may have gotten dropped....again, this does NOT explain why there are two...
Posted by: VaCSProf on January 4, 2005 08:41 PMDross demanded no proof from Gregoire, but later browbeat Mary Lane from the Rossi campaign. Using a snarky snarl he usually inflicts on bad dogs & Tim Eyman, Dross demanded that Lane prove conservative counties were not violating state laws about ballot validation. She did.
Then we learned that it's Gregoire County that counts its provisionals without validating them. "Mayor" Nickels? Monorail? "Senator" Cantwell? "Governor" Gregoire? In this county, it's all ... provisional. For all we know, John Carlson, who lost by only 20 points, is really Governor Carlson, and Dave Ross is what he always ways, a lefty little Mercer Island elitist who implored his listeners to grovel to al Jazeera last May.
