Dino District Democrats

Sources in the legislature tell me that:

1. Contrary to an earlier rumor, it does not appear that the Democrats will attempt to certify the election on Monday.

2. The D's have the votes to certify on Tuesday, and they will move forward with that no matter how many people are protesting outside.

3. Nevertheless, it is important to lobby your legislators to try to persuade them to hold off on certification -- especially if you have a Democrat Senator and/or Representative and your district voted for Dino Rossi.

4. The advice for making your point to your elected officials: "Phone calls and e-mails are effective, and the more effective if they are courteous".

The following is an expanded list of the Dino District Democrats in the legislature. If you any of these people represent you, it's essential that you contact them. [If you're not sure of your district, go here and scroll down to "District Finder" ] Explain that there are too many irregularities in this contest to trust the outcome and that it would be only undermine public confidence in our electoral process if the legislature were to certify the result. Ask them to support a revote so we can restore confidence in the system and elect a governor who has a legitimate mandate, whomever that turns out to be.

That would be 20 Democratic Representatives and 6 Senators in Dino Districts. Only a few of them need to vote with their constituents instead of with their party bosses (and union paymasters) to preserve our democracy. Again, be impeccably courteous and appeal to their highest ideals of respecting the will of the people and insisting on clean elections to measure the will of the people. At the same time, the subtext should be that betraying one's constituents and certifying a fraudulent election should merit devastating consequences.

I know that many of these Democrats are worthy public servants. It would be a shame if any of the good ones sacrificed their careers in order to prop up this fraudulent circus of an election "victory". Posted by Stefan Sharkansky at January 07, 2005 12:03 AM | Email This

1. I would be willing to bet that there are two more Dinocrat legislative districts. Double-check these, if you can:

2nd District -- portions of southeastern Pierce County and southeastern Thurston County. Senator Marilyn Rasmussen (D)

10th District -- all of Island County and portions of NW Snohomish and SW Skagit. Senator Mary Margaret Haugen (D)

Both of these districts have two GOP state representatives. And we always target Rasmussen and Haugen, since these districts are supposed to be GOP districts. Rossi must have carried both of them.

2. yes i am in the 2nd district. the 2 reps are both republicans. i have contacted them both. they are both against certifying the results and support a revote. i sent a nice letter to senator rassmussen (democrat) and have not gotten a response. she just won reelection. my understanding is rossi won the 2nd district easily.

3. Senator Rasmussen is in Hawaii until Sunday, so we probably shouldn't expect anything from her. I also wrote her an email. I got a nice letter from Tom Campbell saying that he will vote for a revote, if it gets that far.

4. I've posted this once before, but it slipped through unnoticed the first time.

Clark County has two legislative districts, District 17 and District 49. While District 17 is represented by two Republicans and one Democrat (Deb Wallace), District 49 is represented by one Republican and two Democrats (Jim Moeller and Bill Fromhold). That combines for a total of three Democrats and three Republicans. Importantly, Dino won Clark County by an almost 14,000 vote margin.

Likely, the six legislators in Clark County will split evenly in the vote to ratify the election next Tuesday, even though they represent a county that was pro-Rossi. I will definitely be checking how each of them vote and won't forget next time they come up for re-election to their office.

5. This is the reply i got from geoff simpson today. Colleen,

Thank you for your message. If there is evidence of fraud, the GOP
should ask for the appropriate law enforcement to take place. That's why
we have a criminal and civil justice system, to correct wrongdoing and
to bring justice to the injured party. In most instances, election fraud
is a felony. If such fraud exists and it can be shown that Gregoire's
election would not have happened if the fraud had not occurred, then I
agree that a revote should occur. If anybody is guilty of election
fraud, I will call for them to be punished to the fullest extent of the
law. Absent any credible allegations of fraud, the laws of Washington
have been followed and the people of Washington have elected their new
governor and I intend to vote to certify the election. Do I think come
changes to our laws are in order? Absolutely, our laws are clearly not
perfect and can certainly be improved upon. But mistakes do not
constitute fraud. Mistakes occurred all over the state as they do in
every election. When mistakes are corrected in accordance with our laws
in regard to elections, the true will of the voters is revealed. In this
case, after the mistakes that were identified in time to be corrected in
accordance with our laws were corrected, the will of the voters was that
Gregoire be elected governor. The only remedy in our laws available to
the GOP now is to show that fraud or malfeasance has occurred and as I
have stated before, if it has then perhaps a new election is in order
and certainly the perpetrator should be punished. I urge you to contact
GOP chair Chris Vance at chairmanvance@wsrp.org to urge him to produce a
credible allegation of fraud or concede that his candidate has lost the
election.

Thanks again,

Geoff

6. Maureen Walsh, who took over Dave Masten's seat in the 16th. should be contacted also.

7. One big problem to my reply recieved is Geoff did not answer my question about the Military ballots he side stepped that one. I also emailed my rep. Jack cairnes and Chris Gregoire i will post again with those reply's.

8. Well if these representatives are not going to listen to the folks that they represent, we will remember, and we will work hard to chuck them out of office next election. As if the CAO wasn't enough reason to kick these people out, this will just fuel the fire. WE WANT A REVOTE!

9. Sorry, Stefan, contacting legislators is futile and a colossal waste of time.

10. According to the 2nd Leg. Dist (South Pierce and part of Thurston) we gave Rossi 58% of the vote. I emailed both of my Reps (both Republican and both saying they support a re-vote) and also our Dem. Senator Rasmussen. I've emailed her twice and asked for a response BEFORE Gregior is ratified. I have YET to get a response from her. I think she is committing political suicide in this area if she doesn't go against her "party line". This area is increasingly conservative.

11. Please clear up something for me - Can the legislature vote on Tuesday to certify the election regardless of the filings of the state GOP? If the GOP files to contest the election, what is the process - does a judge have to stop the certification? Once the legislature votes to certify the election, is the whole thing over? From what I am reading, it appears the legislature can do whatever they want regardless of the filings of the GOP or the will of the people - I hope this is not true.

12. CascadeKid,

Rasmussen is in Hawaii,"enjoying the beach boys" until Sunday. She isn't going to respond. Nice how she is living it up in Hawaii...she doesn't seem to care at all about this fiasco.

13. Stefan--

Didn't Dino carry his own District (the 5th)?

I live in Clark, and I think Dino got 56% of the two-party vote.

14. What about the 2nd District? That is a very GOP district with a long time Democrat Senator named Marilyn Rasmussen

15. Happy to have found soundpolitics.com after having read opinionjournal.com.
Also, I am pleased with the speedy reply from my State Representative Jim Buck 24th District. Truth is always worth pursuing. Regarding the re-vote, I close with the words of Winston Churchill "Never give up"! Onward to Olympia tomorrow for the live voter's protest!

16. I believe that the senator from Spokane is of the Democratic persuasion. Brown?

17. Damn, Geoff Simpson is one of my reps too! I voted against him not really knowing anything about him or his opponent. Now I do have a good reason to continue voting against him!

Posted by: Ferrous on January 10, 2005 04:18 PM
18. You can't really expect a Democrat to vote against the party line. That would reflect a sense of internal fortitude. The only thing Dems care about are pushing their Social-ist agenda. I understand one Democrat voted with the Republican minority. That person should be congratulated for having courage. The rest need to be cast out. The Dems don't care if the election is fair, only that they win.... They want to win at any cost because Bush beat their baby.

19. Just thought you would like a copy of the e-mail I sent to Rep.Mike Sells in my 38th Dist. and his response. Especially his last sentence.

I think the evidence has to be looked at objectively with a view to
election reform. Simply having a revote under the same circumstances
would not increase people's confidence in the outcome. In fact it could
lead us right back where we are now. I certainly want people to feel
that the election was legitimate, the rules were followed, and the
outcome as a result was fair, especially when it is someone from my own
party who has been elected.

MESSAGE:

Dear Rep. Sells
There are just too many glaring irregularities in this last election
with the recounts, and the "King County" found ballots, etc.,that the
whole process just reeks of fraud. We cannot in any way trust the
outcome of this election and that to continue down this slippery slope
would undermine public confidence and throw a huge question mark on the
credibility of our legislature and the whole election process. I ask
that you support a REVOTE to restore public confidence in the election
process and to elect a govenor who has a legitimate mandate, whomever
that may be.
Betraying one's constituents can, and often does have devastating
consequences. Do the right thing Mr. Sells.
I am informed, I watch, and most importantly, I vote.
Tim T.

NOTE: Mr. Tennessen has requested a response to this message.

NOTE: We are 99% sure that this constituent is in your district
