You're in good hands with Dean and Corky

Yakima County Auditor Corky Mattingly reassures us in today's Seattle Times that "King County voters in good hands"

In King County, while the elections officer is not elected, the current occupant of the office, [Dean] Logan, is one of the leading elections professionals in Washington state and the country. He is a highly regarded member of the Association of County Auditors in Washington and has over the years taken the lead on important election-reform issues in the state. While with the secretary of state's office as director of elections, he played a critical role in the implementation of the Help America Vote Act in Washington.

Logan has my confidence in the actions he has taken, and is continuing to take, to ensure that the recount process in King County is open and transparent to the public at large. He has not shirked his responsibility.

I was beginning to worry about all those felon voters, Dead voters, Double voters, Private mailbox and storage locker voters, 3,000 voterless ballots and 1,000 ballotless voters in King County. But if Corky has confidence in the process and in its managers, then perhaps so should we all.

1. Partisanship is such a wonderful thing isnt it? I wonder if she will be so willing to stay onboard when the ship has too many holes and begins to sink:)

2. They don't want to look like rats they are so they just close their eyes and ignore that sense of impending disaster.

3. Sent her an email about her propaganda.

Her email is corky.mattingly@co.yakima.wa.us

I have lost all faith in Auditors if Logan is highly regarded member as she says and that we have a very professional elections community.

I don't even think Logan is an accountant let alone an auditor!!!

Just the bureaucrats circling the wagons and putting their heads in the sand.

4. "he (Dean Logan) played a critical role in the implementation of the Help America Vote Act in Washington."

Like hell. Those innocent little WACs implementing the HAVA, which the SOS laid on the County Auditors in August, just disappeared into a void. If they'd have been followed, most of the King County election snafu would not have occurred. Mattingly is another partisan in CYA mode.

5. Would you buy a used car from Dean Logan?

Well, we are being told to "buy" this election from Mr. Logan, as is. I don't think so. I'm sure Corky is not bias or has no vested interest in this election either. Okay, I'm ready to buy that used car now, sure hope it has a clear title.

7. Corky Mattingly is a boob. She has no clue how to run her office, let alone how to obey the law with regards to elections. She is a political hack -- that's all -- a Patty Murray wanna-be.

If someone dug into Yakima County records, they would find similar problems.

The incompetent will always praise the incompetent.

8. This is the same letter that other Auditors refused to sign. Corky is a quack, did she personally audit KC records? Did she look at their precinct reconcile sheets. Did she even reconcile her own for that matter? What a hack. These people have no understanding of inventory control or basic accounting.

9. This is what I heard back from my email to Corky:

Thank you for your e-mail. I appreciate your input. If you think my letter is a cover-up then you don't know me. I'm sorry you feel this way and hope to someday share my views with you.

Corky, it's more than a coverup, it's a feel good whitewash!!!!!

10. ...or, maybe it's time to shake the trees in Yakima and see what kind of vote fraud falls out there.

11. Hello Folks---
Over a month ago...12/20/04 to be precise, Mattingly tried to "circle the wagons" getting other COunty Auditors to sign a "Letter in Support of Dean Logan" authored by none other than Bob "Sideshow" Terwilliger.
This was a 2-page laetter that was headed for the Times & P-I until several auditors objected to it.

It included berbage that:
"The public can have faith in the fact that the KingCo recount process in the Governor's race is in good hands and is being carried out according to the laws and procedures of the State of Washington."

How wwould Mattingly know?

Isn't this the same Corky Mattingly who worked for Patty Murray...and then for Cantwell???
YUP!

13. Why does such a heavily Republican County like Yakima elect such a Democratic hack like Corky what's-her-name Auditor? I hope there are plans a foot to get rid of her in '06.

14. Logan the bet in the COUNTRY? I think mattingly had blown her CORK.

It cracks me up they continue to spew this nonsense. Is this what happens when a party in falling apart?
When I prayed for Dino to win, I also asked for it to be a memorable event. So, whats that phrase? Be careful what you wish for......

Corky was elected even though a "dim" because her opponent was even worse. sometimes its hard to find good help.

16. Logan goes on to say that he must be given the means to investigate every voter, if that is what will be required of him.

It's like telling one traffic cop to enforce all roads at the same time.

Change the rules, allot the money, but unitll then ...

17. brandon--
If Logan was unable to follow the law due to a lack of staffing, he should have made that clearly known BEFORE the damn election!!!!!!

Saying it now...begging for sympathy and understanding is pathetic. Had he stepped forward to his boss (Ron Sims) and the KingCo Council (Headed by his buddy "disenfranchised Larry Phillips"), he would have appropriately put the ball in their court to give them adequate funding or face consequences. That would have been the RIGHT THING for Logan to do. Did Logan do that???? Apparently not. And now he wants OUR SYMPATHY?????????? Bad try=No sale!
