Rossi leads both Gregoire and Cantwell

Today's Rassmussen Reports says that in a survey of 500 likely voters about the 2006 WA Senate race, Rossi attracts 47% of the vote to Cantwell's 44%

Overall, Rossi is viewed favorably by 55% of Washington's voters. Cantwell is viewed favorably by 54%.

Governor Christine Gregoire is viewed favorably by 50%, although just 42% believe she legitimately won last November's election. Forty-four percent (44%) believe Rossi was the real winner while 15% don't know who won.

I also envision that soon-to-be Governor Rossi, by then in the middle of his second term, would be a very formidable challenger to Patty Murray in 2010.

1. Rossi, after being Governor, probably will hold a U.S. Senate seat someday....if he doesn't run for President first.

2. Dino Rossi, the man who narrowly lost the race to be Washington's Governor last November, holds a slight lead over incumbent Senator Maria Cantwell in a hypothetical Election 2006 match-up.

Rossi attracts 47% of the vote to Cantwell's 44% in a survey of 500 Likely Voters conducted February 22, 2005. The margin of sampling error is +/- 4.5 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence.

Rossi "the man who narrowly lost the race to be Washington's Governor last November" should immediately agree to a "re-poll" because his "slight lead" is clearly within the margin of error and the poll itself admits that it is only 95% accurate so "we can never know who really won" this poll. Indeed - I am sure that we can expect the Snark to spend hours going through the list of 500 Likely Voters to make sure none were felons, voted in other states, or participated in more than one poll.

3. dpk...almost clever. Better luck next time.

4. With all due respect, why does everyone think Rossi would even want to be a Senator in this God-forsaken state? It's a dead-end, a road to nowhere. Cantwell is useless, and Patty Murray is even worse. Murray consistently wins the 'Least likely to be a rocket scientist award' by the votes of Senate staffers. And to secure any funds for the state from DC would require them to overlook Baghdad Jim McDermott ruling the district in Seattle.

Rossi has a brighter future than any of these useless politicians in Washington State. He'll be Governor on his way to bigger and brighter things.

dpk,

If you're not worried, why are you here trying to stir things up? Your Playstation 2 is lonely and calling your name. It misses you after you played so much during election season.

5. Cantwell lies about Osama Bin Laden building day care centers, says we should be more like the cave-dwelling terrorist, and 54% view her favorably???!

6. dkpcowboy: you're right, you guys have no sense of humor, but I do love the phrase "Dino Rossi, the man who narrowly lost the race to be Washington's Governor last November that Rasmussen uses. Has a nice ring to it.

Let's just repeat that a few times until it starts to sink in for you knuckleheads:

"Dino Rossi, the man who narrowly lost the race to be Washington's Governor last November"

"Dino Rossi, the man who narrowly lost the race to be Washington's Governor last November"

"Dino Rossi, the man who narrowly lost the race to be Washington's Governor last November"

Are you starting to get it yet?

7. "Cantwell lies about Osama Bin Laden building day care centers."

For the record, it was Patty Murray, the other dim bulb US Senator who said that - but MSM has successfully swept that under the carpet for now.

So Rossi is the presumed winner over Gregoire by an opinion of 44-42% - that has slipped a bit, to be expected. Time to go back to the courtroom soon. The collective public is gradually losing their memory - they need something to remind them again...

8. Hey, dpk, I see that your IP address is 12.17.152.9, which belongs to the City of Bellevue.

Which Bellevue city department is paying you to hang out at my blog and make anonymous political statements? I'm sure my Bellevue readers want to know how their tax dollars are being used.

Meanwhile, maybe our friend could go find some cars that use the slick new multi-million dollar ramps and overpasses for that "Access Downtown Bellevue" project on 405 that seems more-than-a-little under-utilized by anything other than half-empty buses.

19. The most interesting thing in this is that Rossi's numbers have gone down steadly as his challange continues. And Gregoires have gone up as she proves herself a capable governor. KS and others are saying that it is the public forgetting, but maybe it is the public listening and getting all of the information. Most people, after all, aren't in a self-reinforcing echo chamber like this. So much for the coming of the great Republican revolution. In another month of so Rossi will be at 30%, Gregoire at 50%.

And dpk, you know you are doing a good job if The Great and Powerful Shark has to threaten you. Nice to know everyone here is so open to contrarian point of views. Next thing you know, they will just disapear any disenting posts like so many Jeff Gannon articles. Stalin would be proud.

Man, these guys will believe anything. And Stefan didn't threaten dpk. He just illustrated the point made here, and on other posts, that government waste is rampant and CG is merely for more of the same.

(See folks, I was worried that dpk would skulk off into the shadows once his work at the public teet was announced.)

Now, I really don't have the time to check every post, but you know, people eat lunch and take breaks, even in the private sector. Or are you only allowed to if you drink the Kool-aid with the other wing nuts and chant "Revote, Revote, to hell with the Constitution!" over and over again?

You all are going to be very disapointed in the end. Rossi's popularity is nothing, Gregoire's is going up. And outside your little world, more and more people are thinking to themselves "You know, you really should be able to prove the election was changed, or show fraud, if you are going to remove Governor Gregoire from office."

Is the gracious Gov growth in popularity for her campaign promise of "NO NEW TAXES". So far she has only promised not to raise the B & O Tax, and State Sales Tax. She might use the same tactics to Balance the Budget as her Party (D's) did for winning the Hand Recount. I wont hold my breath though on her ability balancing the budget, unless she screws us taxpayers, which is almost like fraud. But hey, we are used to it, the Dem's have controlled this state for many years...

Seems to me that if Patty Murray comfortably won re-election against a pretty good opponent -George Nethercutt- and she did it by recovering with nary a hitch following her absurdly brain-dead comments about how Osama the humanitarian was busy building day care centers in Afghanistan, then that senate seat is hers for a lot longer than until 2010. The good people of Washington have essentially ceded it to her for life, because if that wasn't enough to get her tossed, what could be?

Are the people of Washington State going to get an "after the fact" report on everything this woman does here? What a convenient way to sneak in a tax increase, sign a few liberal leaning bills, and further oppress the majority of people in this state!

I hope when she dines at the Whitehouse - they seat her in the back.......She should not be recognized as an official Governor of Washington state until this contest is over. It would be tacky of her to present herself as such...

49. Although he hasn't said it in so many words, I get the impression that Dino Rossi isn't interested in being a US Senator, and for good reason. He wants to help his state in more direct ways. Governors have the power to do that. US Senators do not. Even if he were by some miracle to win a race against CantDoWell, he'd be a junior Senator from a state with little political clout in Washington, DC, one vote out of a hundred, buried in obscurity for the next six years.

Rossi is a family man with young children in school. It would be hard on his family to uproot them and drag them 3000 miles across the country. He wants his kids to grow up in Washington, the state, not DC. So if he were to go to the Senate its either disrupt his family life, or live apart, which is no less disruptive.

Running for Senate would be a fool's errand. The dynamics of the Governor's race will not translate to a Senate race. Ne'erDoWell is roughly as popular in WA as Osama Bin Murray, who clobbered Nethercutt in the latest election. Rossi knows his best shot is to fight the fraud, and try to get Fraudoire and the other lousy, cheating Rats out of there. Stay focused, Washingtonians. The lousy Rats want nothing more than to distract you from the task at hand. Throwing out the bone of a U.S. Senate seat is nothing more than an unattainable consolation prize. Exposing and fighting the fraud of the last governor's race is more important than chasing rainbows (e.g., running for Senate).

52. Deborah,

If they had any gumption, the advance men at the WH would refuse Fraudoire admission to the WH because of a lack of valid credentials. Tell the lousy Rats to send a legitimate governor. The national GOP pulled the rug out from under Rossi after convincing him to take this kamikaze ride and now they would do homage to his illegitimate usurper? Shame on them.

Then again, if the Republicans in the WA legislature had played it right, they would have walked out on Fraudoire's coronation. Why sit there and lend any air of credibility to a fraudulant process?
