Ron Sims Political Death Watch

Even Joni Balter, one of Ron Sims' most loyal sycophants in the local press, admits that Mr. 99.98% is vulnerable. "GOP could mount a credible run at Sims".

Balter's analysis of the potential Republican challengers isn't worth much, but there's humor value in her description of Ron Sims:

Sims is easily the best public speaker in the state. He is highly competent, passionate, well-liked. He managed the county credibly in very tight economic times
The humor is in the understatement. Balter neglected to mention that Sims also has "good home training".

1. After what I've read today in Sharks post they all should be on a 'Political Death Watch'.

Thanks Stefan for your 'Eye On Politics'.

2. You're right. Her description of Sims shows how deep one can fall into the abyss of "kool-aid drinking" and not even realize it!

David Irons Jr. for King County Exceutive. Common sense and decency---for once!

3. Unfortunately, with the current King County GOP run by an incompetent... and the state GOP run by an incompetent.... any Republican running against Sims is toast.

4. Who.... me?:

What makes you believe that Michael Young is incompetent? Please provide concrete examples of incompetence and malfeasance in his duties.

5. are you sure his vulnerability isn't "actually (was) a slightly lower 99.8 percent?"

6. Rumor has it that people have started looking into Ron Sims past...all the 'studies' that were done to get the stadiums completed downtown....and that many, if not most, of these 'studies' never actually existed.

He's got people after him now, that's for sure.

7. Balter Doesn't Get It

From the article:

"Republicans are of two minds about King County voters.

"In the blazing heat and litigation of the crazy-close governor's race, Republicans portray King County as a wacky place where people vote for lowlifes and lesser beings otherwise known as Democrats."

It's not KC that's portrayed that way, it's The Moonbat Colony Formerly Known As Seattle.

And the reason it's portrayed that way is because it keeps trying to speak for KC, which, of course, is why the secession movement has regained momentum.

But secession is overkill. It would be much more efficient to simply build a (political) wall around TMCFKAS, and let them go their merry way.

8. The number of d over R votes in statewide elections in King County has climbed in every election on Young’s watch. He helped kill the move to Olympia after working to ignore the state committee’s dictate to move, thus remaining one of two states out of 50 where the State GOP headquarters is not located in the state capitol (can’t make going to GOP HQ INCONVIENIENT for Mike and the rest of the members of the Bellevue Mafia, can we?)

While on the executive board, Mike did nothing, and will continue to do nothing, about minority outreach, one of the main reasons we’re hemorrhaging the minority vote of King County… election in…. election out. He has allowed himself to be publicly quoted about internal matters (Remember the Benton Wars?) and has done nothing in the area of fund raising, candidate recruitment or grass roots development.

The end result? With “help” like that, who needs to be hurt?

Today’s prediction: Sims… Re-elected in a walk. (Unless some other democrat takes him out.)

Thanks for asking.

9. I guess this bares repeating again. The king county
GOP is a disaster. In the 2004 elections they did
nothing to get out the vote. They left 65,000 in
the bank after the elections.this county party is nothing
but a country club for moderates who think they
know more than you and I do.

The only difference now than before the
elections is pat herbold is gone.otherwise
its same group continuing to run it into
the ground.

More importantly there was somewhere
between 65,000 and 80,000 register republicans
that did not vote this last time around.

what I don't understand is why someone from
the state party has said nothing about this.
instead what you have is this continue mindset
that only moderates can win in king county.
when all it really is is a receipe for disaster.

12.
Um... What was that about "political death" ? ? ? ?

http://www.metrokc.gov/exec/

After a wide margin of victory, King County Executive Ron Sims promised to approach his third term in office with vigor to solve some of the region's toughest problems. Sims said he will move swiftly in finding balanced transportation solutions, protecting the environment, protecting our citizens and continuing to run a lean and effective government.
