What, me worry?
Alfred E. NeumannFormer Attorney General Gregoire
A certain former Attorney General who campaigned on a promise not to raise taxes and believes she won some kind of a model election, nervously tells a TV reporter that she's too busy to worry whether or not we live in a democracy. Posted by Stefan Sharkansky at May 03, 2005 12:34 AM | Email This

1. OUTSTANDING!!
Perhaps our resident expert could seal the deal by putting Alfreds hair around Gregoire's face?

Between this one and Dean "Weird Al Yankovic lookalike" Logan, we have quite a pair.

We still need:
Julia "Junior Sample from Hee-Haw" Patterson"
Ron "Don King" Sims
Bill "Gates" Huennekens
Paul "Gorbachov" Berendt

2. Every third or fourth post here is a dumb one like this. Sort of like the indymedia bush/hitler thing.

SS hasn't learned how to rise above the tomfoolery enough to be taken seriously by those of us in the center.

This is why I own a shotgun, one barrel for the R's and the other for the D's.

Because you both suck.
John Stewart was right.

3. I think the former attorny general Gregoire looks more like Jim Carry as the Grinch. The likeness is amazing, check it out.

4. Steve, thank you very much for your constructive input. I guess I should learn from you and your high quality and very popular blog if I want to be taken seriously by people on the center. How do I add a drum track?

5. Kirk,

She is anything but like the Grinch - she is so generous. The only trouble is it is with other peoples' money. As far as looks, I know what you mean! :)

6. It is good to put a funny face on our politicians unless it is malicious.

But I always thought, and I don't know why the comedians and Dems never picked up on it, that Bush looked more like A. Neuman.

7. Nah, she looks like a Shrillary knock-off.

Given that she changed her "look" right before the campaign is notable as well.

8. Steve Ramsey--
Absolutely no one has ever posted a comment on your blog.
Plus your "drivel" is completely incoherent sprinkled with profanity.
Steve--
R U nuts??

9. All right exactly where do you see her asked that question? It's not in the web-page article.

What would you expect her to do? She's got the job, she's proposing to do the job (however you or I might like it), and whether she serves out the term she was sworn in to is not something she has much say in, does she?

If Dino Rossi were in the same position, I would expect no less of him. At this moment, she is serving as the governor of the State of Washington. It's a procedural matter, but it is also a matter of how we maintain our democracy and continue government operation under challenge.

So Stefan, how about you: Do you believe in democracy? How do you live in honor of that? You're providing an amazing civic action, and I honor you for it (and I think you should get the first blogger Pulitzer). But what do you want to be remembered for to your kids: your civic activism in reforming a critical institution or your mouth?

Posted by: orcmid on May 3, 2005 08:35 AM
10. Orcmid,

I know what I'd expect Gregoire to do, and it begins with putting partisan politics aside and doing what is in the interests of the people of Washington. From the beginning of this debacle, that has meant to recognize the reality of this election and respect the vote of "at least" half the voters of this state.

Instead, she has made overt acts to ignore the consequences of her "victory from defeat" and placed the partisan positions of the liberal wing of the party at the forefront of this legislative session. This was not simply "serving" as the governor, but was really taking advantage of actions within King County that put her in the office that Rossi likely won.

I have a very strong sense that if you asked Democrats like Paul Berendt if he believes in Democracy, that his answer would likely be, "only when Democrats win".

Democrats think that the people will forget what they've done to this state since November 2. They may be right. But if they are wrong. If they've underestimated the people of Washington, then they may be finished. Not just Gregoire, but everywhere else they raise their heads in this state.

Only time will tell, but with 2/3 of the people in this state still believing that Rossi won this election, and now those people facing record tax increases that will hurt the poorest of this state the most, Democrats may have crossed that line that they didn't believe existed. Even in Washington there may be limit to the abuses the people will take from the tax and spenders.

My God, Democrats increased spending 12%. A new dollar of spending for every $8 dollars spent before.

Stefan has performed work in defense of Democracy unparalled by anyone in recent memory. He's made the professionals in the press a laughing stock, while he's repeatedly shown Berendt, Logan and the rest of the Democrats' "cream of the crop" to be the partisan baffoons they are, while they fight back with illogic, deception and a total lack of respect for the voters. Voters I might add, who they've denied their most fundamental right in a Democracy. Stefan has shown integrity and patience that Gregroire and her minions aren't even able to recognize.

I agree with Steve Ramsey above, that both parties suck. In my view one sucks a lot and one sucks a little less. But regardless of my opinion, I'm entitled to cast a ballot, and if it is a legal and valid ballot, it gets counted. When the people's vote no longer counts, because one party buries my vote with illegal votes from aliens, felons or the dead, then that party should not even exist. When one party builds a process that allows partisan operatives to take blank ballots home, permanently mark (enhance) ballots, and conveniently discovers ballots a dozen or more times after the election is over, that party shouldn't be allowed to play in the game.

I've got big problems with Republicans. Too many are manipulated by the building industry for one thing. Vance is the builders' boy and he runs the party. But one thing I know is that if left to Republicans, my vote will count.

11. I mounted the 'What me worry' image of George Bush as Alfred E Newman, printed on the cover of the Aug 2000 Nation magazine, on the underside of the lid of the bathroom throne so that the lid would always be put down; useful for keeping the lady of the house happy. Not even as rude a joke as Laura's 'milking the horse'.

12. Put GWB's picture next to Alfred(or a chimp) and see the REALLY uncanny resemblance.

maybe, maybe not. you need to realize who/what you're talking to.

15. What was hilarious to me was when TEMPORARY Governor Xtine actually tried to say that the convicted felons that had voted would certainly NOT have voted for her, because she was the attorney general and very "tough on crime". WHAT A JOKE! She was not tough on crime. Her being attorney general was probably all the more reason for those felons to vote FOR her.

16. I checked out Steve Ramsey's blog, (don't do it yourself), it was like stepping into a dark cold closet and listening to a mad man chant to himself about how we all suck and we'll all pay someday. Creepy. Oh don't eat at his cooking!!!

17. In your heart you know I'm right. Impeach Earl Warren! "None Dare Call it Treason", except the same old recycled John Birch Society crap you're trying to recycle. Putting a prominent person's face next to AEN is the oldest and lamest John Bircher trick in the book.

Hey! Do you guy's still call Taiwan, Formosa? Doesn't Madame Chiang look great for her age? Isn't Nixon's Southern Strategy brilliant?

New ideas... FEH!

18. "I've served as governor and that's where my attention is going to be for the next 3 1/2 years."
-Former AG Gregoire

If anyone heard the audio...she clearly sounds peeved and a bit unnerved which harkens us back to her tone during her 1st 2 losses to Rossi. This tone and now her innability to govern the state clearly shows us why she lost the race in the 1st place.

Posted by: flexnfx on May 3, 2005 01:15 PM
19. So,flexnfx, the truth comes out! You don't consider the 1st to counts as "too much of a mess to tell who won." You clearly called them WINS. I've been right all along about you guys. You're just sore losers!

Posted by: headless lucy on May 3, 2005 02:03 PM
20. Okay, help me here--which one is Gregoire?

Lucy, too close is too close. I wanted a REVOTE all along and the guns to make sure it was legit. And hard time for cheaters (if not the death penalty for robbing us all). Maybe the Muslims are right--cut off some hands for offenses and soon there will be no more bad write-in ballots. A few more elections and we can all relax and trust them, ya think?

Were you referring to your own post or should I keep counting (maybe there are more ballots)? I guess you haven't read HorsesAss lately.

22. NWCN asked Crissy about her campaign promise of no new taxes. she dodged.
Asked her about the election contest, she dodged.
She was nervously rambling on & on. How embarasing when they showed a video of crissy inspecting the 520 bridge riding in a boat. Looking off towards the bridge with the orange vest as if she is the Admiral of the ship. LOL
what a photo-op. I'm sure the camera man was puking overboard.

23. Char, "How embarrasing when they showed a video of crissy inspecting the 520 bridge riding in a boat." Like she would know what to inspect anyway. Her idea of an 'emergency' fund is to funnel tobacco taxes into clean water when she says the real 'crisis' is in health care--a little ADD, Chrissy? Oh, and the fact that this is an "emergency" prevents it from going to a referendum--how convenient. Even the one that was NOT an "emergency" wasn't sent to referendum. And the taxes are supposed to be voted in by 3/5 of the people in order to pass IF they are more than 1% of the total real value of said property or goods. Did you get to vote on that? Not me. And just wait for what they are up to NOW! They are trying to pass SB 6060 which will prevent class action suits against them for their damages! You can only sue if it hurts you personally!

And get this quote from the new gas tax bill---"Sec. 1 RCW 82.23A.020 and 1991 c 4 s 8 are each amended to read as follows:
(1) A tax is imposed on the PRIVILEGE OF POSSESSION of petroleum products in this state." Well, it seems that possessing gasoline is now a privilege, as is deisel and propane, etc. When is enough ENOUGH?

What, she didn't get to go onto an aircraft carrier and ride in a helicopter? Maybe she could wear a nice orange JUMPSUIT at some time in the future and ride a nice little boat to Alcatraz or whatever our equivalent is. I predict she will go down in the history of our state as the woman who trashed the conomy and drove a mass migration to Texas!

25. Next on the agenda--$30 CAR TABS that you will have to fight for again. Just like in this election, maybe they are counting and recounting until they get just what they want. Heaven knows they think we are too stupid to know what WE want.

Next election DO NOT vote for anyone who has strayed one single iota from the campaign promises they made and ESPECIALLY from the Constitutions they swore to uphold. This will require you actually reading them and you may get your eyes opened to how much you have been cheated all along.

26. re Sharkansky, at least I don't protray my blog as anything other than what it is.

Yours, on the other hand, can't seem to decide between serious analysis of serious issues, or right wing fratboyism.

Your phoot comparison is as childish and low brow as the left's chimp vs GWB.

Neither is funny, constructive, or helpful.

Wanna add a drum track?
In serious conservative fashion I will do it for you at a price to be negotiated.

I disagree that you have accurately portrayed your blog for what it is.
If you did, you what have called it "a piece of crap" or "mindless drivel".

Why has no one ever posted a comment on your blog Steve?

Could it be that every knows yer nuts?
