Joni Balter, June 23 "Calmer mood won't help City Council challengers"

For all the energetic jockeying for seats on the Seattle City Council, this doesn't seem like a year for major change. The economy is steady. Grumbling about King County elections aside, civic life is all but scandal-free. And The Single Big Issue has yet to appear.

2. Ring Joni Balter on the "clue phone" and you find that her number is "out of service."

Balter has all the insight of a doorknob. Hard to take a paper that would employ her as an "editor." In fact, it's impossible.

5. Joni Balter does not want a competitive race in Seattle. Since Seattle became a one party town (and only the left end of that party), Seattle City Council races have not been interesting. When you have two ideological similar individuals running for the City Council, it does not really matter. What Seattle needs is some real candidates with different ideas. The only competitive races now are when something illegal happens (think stripper gate).
