A conservative is a liberal whose favorite boondoggle is taken away

Some of Seattle's public transportation fetishists have finally woken up and realized that light rail is mostly useless, now that their own overpromised neighborhood station has been cut -- "[unSound Transit] Board cuts First Hill rail station"

The decision could have political implications. Brian Parker, representing the board of a First Hill condominium, said he would vote and work against future Sound Transit ballot measures. State Rep. Ed Murray, D-Seattle, whose district includes First Hill, said the neighborhood's past support for Sound Transit "will turn into opposition, even for my tax-loving constituents."
Welcome aboard, Brian and Ed.

1. "even for my tax-loving constituents."

Nice that he's supporting, but my god...he's clueless. I don't know anyone who loves taxes, they may understand the need as I do, but love them? Ed is nuts and no wonder he acts as he does.

2. Taxation 'without representation' motivated our revolution. Without taxes dedicated to all levels of governmental services, we would have no nation. That said, Sound Transit represents the interests of a minority of the most poowerful business interests whose goals are not aligned with our constitutional guarantees. Would that today's republican rank-n-file understood this threat. Link LRT could have been built to higher, reasonable standards, but it is designed to fail.

3. It really must suck to be a Liberal and have no integrity.

4. I guess you can lead a donkey to the tax trough, but you can't make him drink!

This is a serious horseshoe in the Sims/Nickols utopia is it not? Without the transit, where will the urban villagers turn for transportation? I mean without a car you will have to walk or ride a bike?

Hope they sand the sidewalks down there.

5. Have a feeling that their sudden change of heart about the First Hill station is based upon something unplanned they discovered while digging the Beacon Hill station --

A bit of redundancy there.

7. Republicans line up to voice their dubious opinions about HOV lanes, driver etiquite, potholes, or anything to do with their beloved automobiles. But, when it comes to light rail, they avoid the subject as if the only conclusion is that it doesn't work, costs too much, it's only meant to serve the poor and the environmental elitists, and they won't ride on it, ever.

Try to explain to republicans how mass transit is a fundamental form of urban/suburban travel that has long been hamstrung by business leaders with republican credentials, and the rank-n-file republican rejects these suppositions like Pavlov's dogs.

While I agree that HOV lanes are ineffective, wasteful and dangerous, they are as much if not more a product of the republican mindset, than the democrat. Republican leaders are more wasteful and incompetent and far more corrupt than their democrat counterparts because rank-n-file republicans are brainwashed to blame democrats for every wrong. Salivate now.

8. You didn't proof your post before publishing, so I fixed it for ya...You're welcome!

"Liberals line up to voice their brain dead criticisms about everything because the only ideas they have involve changing things for the sake of changing things.

Try to explain to liberals how just throwing money at a problem without thinking through all of the attendant implications and consequences is wasteful, dishonest, and stupid, and the rank and file liberal's eyes roll back in their heads (typical of brain damage due to chemical "enhancement").

While I agree that HOV lanes are ineffective, wasteful and dangerous, they are purely the product of the liberal mindset.

democrat leaders are more wasteful and incompetent and far more corrupt than their Republican counterparts because rank-n-file democrats are brainwashed to blame republicans for every wrong.

Salivate now."

9. alpha:

i think artune could speak/write for himself. i see that you are under the impression that you should speak for him.

as for govt spending, look up and see what your venerated party leaders are doing in d.c. and take a look at what has happened to federal govt size and spending, and then see if you can with a straight face talk about republicans being small govt and fiscally responsible. if you are able to explain away the atroicious spending record of this administration and its congressional supporters, you are more of a party hack than your posts suggest. if you acknowledge their grotesque fiscal behaviour, then perhaps your brain retains an independent thought center, which today's republicans may see as a threat and see to eliminate by providing you some additional talking points which you can regurgitate in your next post.

10. That's priceless!

You presuppose to speak for what's his name, while taking me to task for presuming to speak for him?!!

You're too funny!

As for the rest of your screed - way to try to change the subject.

Now tell me another liberal fairy tale....
