Dean Logan issued a press release today in regards to the illegal postal endorsement that went out to 650,000 King County absentee voters last week --"No voter impact from absentee ballot envelope postal endorsements"
“The postal endorsement on absentee ballot envelopes will not impact voters’ timely receipt of absentee ballots or the proper processing of those ballots,” said Dean Logan, director of Records, Elections and Licensing Services. “Washington State law very clearly allows for the forwarding of absentee ballots and requires that voters be advised of the legal qualifications for casting a ballot. King County’s absentee envelopes and ballot instructions do just that.”Re-read my earlier post that discusses the issue, including the relevant sections of state law and administrative rules that I linked to. The postal endorsements are illegal and will disenfranchise eligible voters by making it easy for former residents who have moved away to vote in their former jurisdictions when they're no long entitled to do so. Dean Logan violated state law and now he's lying about it. Posted by Stefan Sharkansky at September 06, 2005 06:02 PM | Email This
I think it would be more appropriate to say that he is lying through his gaping hole.

King County REALS has posted a statement regarding absentee postal endorsements that contains false and misleading information (statement attached).
Dean Logan makes a sweeping assertion that King County's absentee envelopes and ballot instructions meet state law. He is wrong. The law requires that forwarded ballots "contain a clear explanation of the qualifications necessary to vote in that election and must also advise a voter who has questions about his or her eligibility to contact the county auditor". The absentee ballot package does neither. His assertion that absentee envelopes and ballot instructions advise the voter of the legal qualifications for casting a ballot is false. The prime issue with forwarded absentee ballots is that the voter is very likely to have moved to a jurisdiction for which the ballot does not apply. There is absolutely no statement in the package, clear or otherwise, that addresses the very important requirement that a voter must reside in the jurisdiction of the ballot. And to say that there is no voter impact is false. If people who moved outside of my district in King County improperly vote in the district's election then the impact of my vote has most certainly been affected.
I am encouraged that Mr. Logan will take action to correct the postal endorsement and obtain the missing forwarding information. However, to say that "there is no impact on the voter" by not having that information is false. The forwarding information allows the county to correct voter files rather then continue to forward ballots to unqualified voters and continue to dilute the votes of qualified voters. Mr. Logan needs to commit that those files will, in fact, be corrected to postal service forwarding information prior to the General Election.
Yawn.
Posted by: Huey on September 6, 2005 07:46 PMNo grand jury shall be summoned to attend at the superior court of any county except upon an order signed by a majority of the judges thereof. A grand jury shall be summoned by the court, where the public interest so demands, whenever in its opinion there is sufficient evidence of criminal activity or corruption within the county or whenever so requested by a public attorney, corporation counsel or city attorney upon showing of good cause.I wonder if anyone knows "a public attorney, corporation counsel or city attorney"? ...or does the evidence already shown constitute "sufficient evidence of criminal activity or corruption within the county"?
Hmmmm...
Posted by: Don Bangert on September 6, 2005 09:03 PMIt's rare anymore to find anyone who supports Ron Sims and his cronies.....Most Sim's re-election signs I've seen have been vandalized!....It's phenomenal!
We whisper that we live in King County.....It's just too shameful to discuss in public...
The last few Ron Sims supporters must understand that they are perceived as "mindless bozo's" by the vast majority in this county....That's why people just shake their heads at them in disbelief and walk away..
Posted by: Deborah on September 6, 2005 09:26 PMIn fact I am going to class tommorrow to be an Elections Judge! Got my Scrub brush and my liberal disinfectant handy and I'm ready to start judging!
We've seen their style of Elections, time to scrub a dub dub!
Posted by: GS on September 6, 2005 09:50 PMChallenge the Ombudsman to investigation Logan by filing a complaint against Logan's illegal forwarding endorsement.
http://www.metrokc.gov/ombuds/citizen.htm
Demand an investigation and criminal prosecution if Logan is found to have intentionally violated state law.
See just how creative the Ombudsman will get to defend this blatant wrongdoing.
It would be something if every citizen of King County would challenge the Ombudsman to investigate every instance of wrongdoing by King County employees.
Posted by: Mike on September 6, 2005 10:02 PMThis is not a Republican or Democrat issue, this is an issue of open and honest government vrs corrupt and dishonest government.
A year has gone by since we had an election so filled with fraud that we don't know who was really elected and the corrupt people in control of the county are so sure they can steal another one, keeping control for at least 4 more years, that they are going to keep lying and committing fraud until we vote for a change in power.
Time to elect David Irons for County Executive and Steven Pyeatt for Council District 1.
Without those two in office we will see more and more of this kind of fraud.
My kids play a card game, the name escapes me, but the rules are that they make up the rules as they go. Clearly Sims, Logan, et al, know this game very well.
Posted by: dl on September 7, 2005 08:06 AMsolution? flush it and start over with newly-elected blood who give a darn about integrity; change the rules to give them incentive comp for jobs well done like high accuracy rates or error-free or beating deadlines or acheiving under cost;
change the rules to fire liars and lazy arses; after the first few heads roll, the other workers will be inspired to do what their conscience has told them all along;
