The new Gregoire
Mrs. Gregoire and her handlers have finally realized that most of the people in the state don't like her very much, so they are giving her an image makeover.
they've freed up her schedule to put her on the road -- a lot -- for policy meetings, city tours, school visits and photo ops. She's relaxed, smiling more, and sometimes shelves her trademark intensity to include laughter, colloquialisms and references to her compelling life story.
Compelling life story? Well, there's her term as president of a segregated sorority. And then there was the stolen "election" which she praised as "a model to the rest of the nation and the world at large.

Meanwhile, the "new Gregoire" who recently called for fiscal restraint is now proposing a whole porkload of new spending: "Gregoire's wish list nears $200 million"

1. With the boost to the economy that we should get by destroying ANWR with oil drilling, that 200 million dollars should be easy to come up with! And look at the way we're winning in Iraq!!!

You're such a GLOOMY GUS Stefan...

2. Why is it that liberals like Winston always have to discuss issues so far beyond the point of a post? Why you ask? They have absolutely nothing to counter the post with.

Typical.

3. medical aid that the State cut back wasn't included in this wish list. I didn't see refunding the pension plan that she and Rossi were proposing.

I didn't see using the one billion for the new Viaduct that may fall down at any moment (wink! wink!).

For a while the last couple of years, I thought the Rs had lost their moral compass when they starting spending like drunken sailors in port after six months at sea. The Ds claimed to ususrp that mantle. Until..... time passes by, their true colors come out.

In DC, the Rs even took some spending increases out of the budget while the Ds fought them. Now, maybe the world is right side up again.

4. On a hunch, I goggled Gregoire’s image the other day and then lined a few of them chronologically. It revealed a very disturbing trend. Mind you, I would expect some amount of aging, but what I saw was strikingly similar to the change of appearance of the sith lord in the Star Wars series. I think Christine Gregoire might be a sith. Try it yourself and see.

5. Sharkansky,

Stolen election? Holy fraud, Batman! See Bush v. Gore for the book on stolen election. It this election all voters in Florida had their vote cancelled and 5 folks in Washington, D.C. chose for them.

Stolen election? ROFLMAO!!!!!

6. You print a picture of a pig with lipstick and then dun me for not hewing to your line? You're such a gaggle of a**holes!

7. Winnie (aka s_choir, headless lucy and other KLOWNS)
Your multiple personality disorder apparently allows you to put lipstick on a pig....and not see a pig.
Using multiple posting identies does little to hide your lack of sense of humor for ALL your many identities.
A pig is a pig....
And a KLOWN is a KLOWN.

10. I thought Seattle loved pink pigs.

183 million in new projects for Gregoire. Only half of the bike and sidewalks that are on the State's list are funded, it will take another 75 million just for the current list. The millions for WASL is just a drop in the bucket for the spending in education that they want. Our legislators have their own pet projects too!

Downpaying the looming debt? Hah!

11. Mr.Cynical: I'm flattered that a pretend ring- master like yourself responds to my antics. When I went to the Thanksgiving parade this year, I saw a giant clown made out of balloons in the distance , and as it gradually approached I could see that about 100 fully costumed clowns were , well, clowning around as they moved down the boulevard. As I watched them I realized that in the Mr.Cynical world-view, this must be what an anti-war demonstration must look like.

As funny as the idea of the 100 clowns as LIBERAL demonstrators was, you must realize that on a local as well as national basis we are taking yopur party apart. We may be clowns to you, but we definitely have a serious purpose that you have not seen in Democratic circles in many a year.

The last thing the baby -boomers are going to do before NOT going gently into that good night is hand you Reps. your hats as well as a new a**hole.

"The time has come today.

There are things to realize!"

Chambers Bros.

I suggest you listen to the long version.

I WENT ON LINE TO LOOK UP "CHROME PLATED DOG TURD"...IT WAS ALREADY TAKEN, BY THE TACOMA CITY COUNCIL! SPEAKING OF PIGS...MY GRANDFATHER ALWAYS TOLD ME "IT DOSENT MATTER HOW MUCH LIPSTCK YOU PUT ON A PIG ...ITS STILL A PIG!!

15. We might remember, Mr. Rossi won two elections to Ms. Gregoire’s one. By that reckoning, there is half the doubt Mr. Rossi lost compared to half the confidence Ms. Gregoire won.

16. Winston:

The irony of your little pseudonym, used as it is by someone whose political party has done more to advance the cause of socialism--and therefor tyranny--than any other group outside of the CPUSA would be amusing if it didn't make me nauseous.

Secondly, please *DO* keep whistling past the graveyard about your electoral successes.... just be careful. Delusional behaviour could get you involuntarily medicated. Remember your heroes in the former Soviet Union and China with their re-education camps? Oh, I forgot--I'm sure you approve of those.

17. Surpluses can be good, but many times they can turn into hidden tax increases.

Sure, we have money now that can be used to start new programs, but that money may not always be there and then we will be faced with a decision - cut existing programs of increase taxes. Which route do you think this legislature and governor will take?

18. Democrats have no grounds to even talk about Republicans. In 2004 we saw them trade crack cocaine for fraudulent voter registrations in Ohio:

http://www.toledoblade.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20041019/NEWS09/410190343

And then we have the entire Democrat leadership of the St Louis party convicted (hint to liberals - that is what happens AFTER an indictment. Something you will NOT see happening to Ton Delay):

From http://www.belleville.com/mld/belleville/12021188.htm

Convicted of one count of conspiracy to commit vote fraud during the Nov. 2 election was Charlie Powell Jr., head of the city's powerful Democratic Central Committee and a former city council member. He faces five years in prison.

Convicted of conspiracy and vote fraud and facing five years on each count were:

• Kelvin Ellis, a Democratic precinct committeeman and former East St. Louis city government department head who served a federal prison term for extortion in the early 1990s.

• Yvette Johnson, secretary to the city Democratic organization.

• Democratic precinct committeemen Sheila Thomas and Jesse Lewis.

All except Ellis were allowed to remain free on previously posted recognizance bonds to await sentencing in about three months. Ellis, who has been held in custody and faces other charges in connection to another FBI probe of East St. Louis government, was returned to jail.

20. If it looks like a pig, Taxes like a pig, and spends like a pig it IS Gregoire or one of her party in Olympia.

Beware of the stampede in January, they are all headin back out to clean out a full trough, then they will be diggin much further into your pockets if you have anything left!

21. To the DemocRATS, having a surplus is like an addict about to have another fix. They can hardly wait to get their grubby little hands on it for their pet projects that will cost even more in the future, because they always lie about how much a new program will cost.

What would be wrong with fixing some problems like the pension mess and others without adding new state programs?

Since when do kids need extra help in passing the WASL? No one ever gave my generation extra help to pass a test that was supposed to check what they have already learned. It's just more money grabbing by the teachers' unions.

Why do pre-schoolers need more money? Why does the state have to provide more health insurance? Why does the state need more bike trails? I see so few people on bikes that it's criminal to waste more money on them for a small minority while the highways are clogged full of cars.

It seems that the priorities of the governor and the legislature don't reflect that the majority of voters want lower taxes and less spending.

22. I believe the phrase "her term as president of a segregated sorority." is a cheap shot. Yes I think the dems stole the election and her comments about the election as "a model to the rest of the nation and the world at large." is laughable, BUT all sororities were segregated and it wasn't an issue here in Seattle at that time. Not like it was in the next several years.

24. Clean House... Interesting article in todays SEATTLE TIMES, "State updates cyclist-pedestrian wish list" 75 million pledged but ideas need 150 million. For a state that wants growth to pay for itself and user fees for every vehicle going down the road, it's amazing there is no State/ Local taxation for Bikes. Besides if the State really thinks this is an issue, I suggest they pull the funding from the I-90 Animal over-passes for 125 MILLION DOLLARS and save some HUMAN lives first.

27. Winston:
ANWR is 19 million acres. In 1980, a democratic controlled congress, at the behest of President Jimmy Carter, set aside area 1002 which is 1.9 million acres of ANWR for future energy exploration. The actual work of drilling and exploration will be done on a 2000 acre site during winter so little if any "footprints" by humans will be left. There are no trees, the closest mountains are 50 miles away and the area consists of permafrost tundra and rocks.
All the same concerns of the Trans Alaska Pipeline have proven to be false. The caribou herd in that area has grown from 5,000 to 31,000.
The United States has the best technology and the highest enviro standards in the world. Would you prefer we invest in foreign countries who do not have the same standards and don't care about enviro impact?
As far as the Florida elections go, seveal news organizations recounted those ballots a year or two after the election and found that Bush won without a doubt. But no one from your side of the fence seems to remember that part.

32. Oh my. That is the funniest thing I have seen in a long time.
You should have seen the picture of her on the front of the Spokesman. She was hugging a little girl and look so uptight, even the dems in my office commented on it.

Posted by: cc on December 20, 2005 12:53 AM
33. McGann's article understates the case. The spending on policy items in Gregoire's proposed supplemental budget totals $304 million, not counting the money she wants to appropriate to her two new reserve accounts. If this is austere, then I'd like to see what extravagant would look like. I'll get my chance, no doubt, when legislative Democrats roll out their budgets a little later on.

34. Another good one for the books.
Dug says, ”See Bush v. Gore for the book on stolen election. It this election all voters in Florida had their vote cancelled and 5 folks in Washington, D.C. chose for them.”

Off-topic, nonsensical, utterly illiterate, shallow, childish, illogical, and absurd.

That’s dug for you.
