Voter database is back up!
The voter database is back up. The machine it was running on had a hardware failure. Fortunately it was still under warranty.
I've uploaded the latest (Feb. 28) release of the database from the Sec. of State. The new distribution includes cancelled voters, which will show up in our output with a 'C' status and highlighted in red.
I still need to take the database server down again later to upgrade the operating system. In the meantime, enjoy the new release of the voter database.
UPDATE: For those who are curious, the hardware component that failed was a 1GB PC2700/333Mhz ECC/Registered DDR Sdram memory card. Also, I upgraded the kernel last night. So far, so good.

1. Can someone clarify for me on a problem I'm having? I entered my name in the data base. Showed up fine, correct address. Did the same for my son, same result. Entered in our address exactly as indicated in db and the db says no such address. Went through the same process for my folks at different address. Search by name works fine, but by address am not having any luck. Suggestions?
2. I have someone now registered to vote at my address who does not live here...
I'm thinking this person had something to do with the previous homeowners... Her record shows no last date of voting and that she registered to vote the year prior to our purchase of the house...
It's funny though - I don't recall seeing her name listed at our address in databases prior to 2006......
3. Well Deborah, an by da way I have loveddd readin all yo preVious posts, it looks as though da Deanmachine Loganday159, Simsalandstealing democraps may be hard up lookin fo new places to registar der triple kin folk! Elsen Da Dean machine a either be down yo ass or be down in Da KC Dungeon a typin late inta the night wit little fear that logs wood ever be captured by a devilish stepheny Shark, so da dean be just a dexolining hunting with eversinglefingerflying lookinfoanewaddressatryin like yours to regiStar their new or cast out or dead democraps so day could weasel jus a one mo absolute electionnn manuuuufest in the Queen of Tax and Regulation Gregoire's a Washinton's world!
So I rekkkognize yo concern, an I feel at ya...oops I feel fo ya! Or yo pain at the very leest! Agoodaytaya!
4. In the recent discussion about voters registered to vote from business address (Microsoft, downtown law firms, etc.) we learned that someone who moves out of the state, (say on temporary assignment) but wishes to maintain residency, should keep their voter registration as the address they most recently resided at in the state.
So it is quite possible that the previous owners of a house be registered at that house.
Of course, absent cross-state voter registration list checking, no one can verify that they haven't registered in another state and are voting in two states.
5. The database shows me registering in 1995. Hmmm. I registered in this county in 1981. Not a big deal, but it's still wrong.
6. Hey, there are 2 swatters registered. Actually, with an unusual name, it is surprising there are two of us. One is good-looking and the other is me. Ever meet your double?
7. I have the same problem as katomar. I can look up myself using my name, but I can't look up who's registered at my address.
8. Same problem with the addresses.
9. I didn't have any issues with the addresses, once I entered the right syntax.
I did notice an interesting thing about Snohomish county data. My wife, my parents and I did vote in the Feb election, but the database does not show this, however, I did see some others in the county that were credited for voting in the Feb election. It seems as if the State is receiving partial information, or isn't updating it as a whole.
Any ideas?
10. This is March 9th and the list was posted on Feb. 28th.... thank you so much it took my x (abusive- stalking) boyfriend exactly 10 days to find me with the information he gathered from the voter information database, that you so kindly made accessable on the itnernet.
11. Is SD another TROLL poking away?
If she/he/it (can't assume anything these days!) has a serious, documented stalking situation, she/he/it can apply for the Address Confidentiality Program. It ain't that tough.
I tell you what SD...since the cat is allegedly out of the bag, e-mail Stefan your name & address and the name of your "stalker".
My guess:
SD===TROLL
12. I was wondering if anyone else was catching that.
So this boyfriend, who must be a right wing whacko that hangs out on Sound Politics, has been waiting for a long time till Stefan published his public information voter database. And then and only then does he/she make contact.
And then SD had to be reading this site in order to know the boyfriend got the public information at Sound Politics.
Sorry, I don't buy it either.
13. I can't be the only only computer geek (OK part geek) who wants to know what the hardware failure was. Leaving out is like telling a doctor that someone is sick -- and not mentioning the diagnosis.
14. "I have the same problem as katomar. I can look up myself using my name, but I can't look up who's registered at my address."
To those of you trying to bring up all voters registered at your address...try this.:
Bring up your county, address (complete "true" address-DO NOT click the box that says show the entire block) Check that your prefix (ie; SE or N..etc..) is not actually your postfix..(means if your address is SE 212th ave - SE is your "prefix"..it would be your "postfix" if your address read 212th ave SE...
Also - once you can pull up your name and address - your address should be highlighted. If you click on the highlight it should bring up all voters at that address.
