1. Face of the enemy. This makes me sick.

2. As usual, it's more about establishing yet another victim class and spreading socialism and Marxism than it is about the alleged topic of the protest. Immigrants already know they are going to be allowed to work here either way. Logistically, it's impossible to deport 12 Million people. So the marches are more about an opportunity for the anti-American, Che loving socialists and progressives to sell their evil messages and GOTV.

Will Dean Logan and team check to make sure the registrations are valid? Heck no, all you need is a signature and a promise and you get to vote. And Logan will count every ballot too, regardless of whether it is authenticated.

Another day in The Peoples Republic of Seattle.

3. Message to George W and Congress:

SHIP THEM BACK and fence our entire southern border. NOW! If we need workers, (and I said WORKERS, not welfare recipients) let them integrate LEGALLY.....and not all from Latin America. Let's allow immigrants from ALL corners of the globe....ones who want opportunity, not handouts!

4. That "Register to Vote" sign (with a nice American flag on it) is disturbing. Whose job is it to make sure that those people who registered to vote are able to legally exercise that right?
Is it the job of the the sympathic, progressive person manning the booth there? He/she would say no, and then a whole bunch of finger-pointing would go on...
Sorry, hermanos/hermanas--the right to vote is ONLY for legal citizens. You become legal, you get a vote (assuming, of course, you aren't a felon, don't double vote, and meet ALL OTHER requirements of the law as currently constituted.)
If you vote, and you're not a citizen, your vote should be expunged, and since illegal voting is apparently a felony, you should face immediate deportation with a "don't come back" warning.

Now, I anticipate the shrilly-pitched argument that many of those people ARE citizens, and why would I want to disenfranchise them, etc. yadda yadda.
Yes, many of those people who were there were probably legal, and if they want their voices heard, voting is a lot more effective in the long term than publicity stunting. (Just ask our Governor!)
But I would make a reasoned assumption that, given the purpose of the "rally," that there are illegals in the group, and that some of them were not discouraged from registering to vote.
That is not a good thing, and violates the principles of a representative democracy.

this is an invasion

6. So those holding the signs are full blooded direct descendants of the Aztecs, Toltec, Mayans?

The Hispanola conquest beginning with Columbus' Hispanoal settlement in 1493 during his second voyage.

The Norse settlements beat ole' Chris out by about 500 years, but they forgot to write it down.

Somebody ought to tell these maroons Hispanics are EUROPEAN, that Spanish is a European language. That they are descendants of the conquistadors.

If we follow the illogical of these yahoos, they should be heading back to Iberia.

7. Viva La Mexico? Then here's a thought.... Go back where you came from. Demand political reform in YOUR OWN COUNTRY. Disrupt and shut down the cities in MEXICO with your endless protests. Enough is enough of this.

Would all the bleeding hearts be so welcoming of those demanding citizenship if we had hundreds of thousand of Russians, Muslims, Irish or any other group marching in the streets demanding that we cave to changing and bending our existing laws regarding immigration and citizenship? I think not.

9. Oh, my--what a lot of Che signs and shirts! What does he have to do with immigration, exactly?

Those pictures show less solidarity than confusion about the exact message. Good thing the publicity hounds with the microphones and bullhorns were there to remind people just why they were there.
I can't figure out what "we didn't cross the border, the border crossed us!" means. It's a catchy slogan, but upon further reflection I can't tell what that means.

Posted by: pseudotsuga on May 3, 2006 11:37 AM
10. Mimi - I'm confused. You say "Disrupt and shut down the cities in MEXICO with your endless protests." But how would you tell the difference?

11. For all those people sporting the "Viva Mexico" signs, here is what I have always wanted to ask: if Mexico is so great, why do you want to come and live here? I mean, why not stay home, if that is such a great place (i.e., viva Mexico)? Why not be marching in Mexico City and trying to build up and make your own country great instead of cluttering up the streets of a foreign land? You know the old sayings, charity begins at home, home is where the heart is, blah blah blah. Just stay home and make your own country into a place where people will want to live and raise a family. Plenty of other countries have. I don't see the British or Norwegians or Swedes or Canadians beating down the doors of this country to get in. If these people would clean up their own country first and build it up and make it a decent place, there would be no need to go hounding after another country to get in.

The truth is that history shows us that when peoples flee their own "home" countries it is because those places are just plain lousy and rotten. They want to go somewhere else to start over and if given the chance they throw off everything associated with their "homeland" and gladly take up the customs and language of their adopted homeland out of gratitude for a chance to start over. The last thing they want to do is make their new home like the one they left, because they were leaving behind misery and despair and tyranny in the hopes of building a better life for their family and children. And they went to work, assimilated into the new culture, and became productive, law-abiding citizens (starting with the immigration laws). They didn't march in the streets and become disruptive or resentful or break the laws.

Posted by: Interested Observer on May 3, 2006 12:07 PM
12. I'm amazed to see elected officials (sworn -- under oath -- to uphold the laws) photographed at a legal assembly attended by citizens who openly defy the laws...and do everything they can to encourage the behavior.

Mr Executive and Mayor,
Excuse me while I exercise my right of free speech and tell you to go straight to hell.

Have a nice day.

13. Sadly, an illegal can fill out the voter registration in Spanish, sign it in Spanish and DeanRon will issue a voter ID card in English, which they cannot understand. Then all is needed is for the illegal to drop their mail-in ballot off at the local union hall so they can help them check all the democratic candidates.

And, isn't it time non-Mexcians stop celebrating Cinco De Miyo, or at least go gulp the Tequila at a good old appreciative Irish-American restaurant?

Posted by: Nick Tuck on May 3, 2006 12:19 PM
14. Nick Tuck,

Yes, we should all boycott Cinco de Mayo, this year and every year.

But there are a whole lot of illegal Irish immigrants in the USA, too, mostly in the northeast. (I have read that Ireland is our second-largest source of illegal aliens, but have not confirmed it.) We should round them up and deport them too, and boycott Saint Patrick's day until those illegals are taken care of, and stay out of those Irish bars.

Actually, Americans should celebrate American holidays, period, illegal aliens or no illegal aliens.

Posted by: Legast on May 3, 2006 12:30 PM
15. Legast,

I am Irish decent, but I am an American, proud and grateful. If and when the illegal Irish, start marching down our streets demanding equal rights as illegals, then I am done with spending my left over after tax money at their establishments as well.

Denny's has tequila, right?

16. I don't know what purpose dressing up in Mexico garb is supposed to serve these people. It's very in-your-face, "we-can-break-into-any-country-we-want". Just try that in Mexico!

I'm not sympathetic. How come they don't demonstrate like this in Mexico, to push for Mexican reform so that Mexico can enjoy prosperity on its own??
I'm sorry; that last sentence I just wrote made too much sense. And we can't have that, can we?

18. I am of Spanish ancestery. The Spanish part of my family has been in this country longer than this country has been around. I am constantly getting junk mail that is in Spanish. This really disturbs me. I will not do any business with a company (like Comcast) who continue to racially profile me based on my last name. I am not from Mexico. People coming here from Spain are speaking English. People coming from Mexico don't want to learn English.I wish there were a way I could sue those companies who are racially profiling me and others who have Spanish surnames.

I am willing to bet that 99% of the "immigrants" carrying signs in English do not know what the sign says.

22. The sad thing is that these folks are terribly ignorant of even their own history.

Prior to the 1845 Mexican American War (and the Texas Revolution in 1836) there were never more than a few thousand Mexicans scattered around the entire American Southwest in Santa Fe, the Californian coast and southern Texas.

The dirty secret is that the Mexican government (partially under the direction of the infamous dictator Santa Anna) actually encouraged American immigration. In Texas, for example, the Mexican population was dwindling because of depradations by the local Comanches and because the territory was literally in the middle of no-where. Mexico felt that having more war-like Americans from southern states like Tennessee and Kentucky, they'd be able to form a bulwark between the Indian tribes and what few Mexican settlers and missionaries were left.
American traders were encouraged to travel along the Santa Fe trail to trade good old-fashioned Yankee manufactured wears for Mexican silver.

And during the Texas Revolution and in Santa Fe during the Mexican War significant numbers of Mexican citizens joined the Americans in fighting their home country in the cause of freedom and democracy.
Does the name Juan Seguin sound familiar?

Probably not.

Posted by: Reporterward on May 3, 2006 02:09 PM
23. JCM,

The illegals protesting probably actually are direct descendents of the Aztecs, Mayas and whatever other minor subjugated tribes that originally populated Central America.
I say this because much of the poverty in the poorer populations in Mexico are concentrated among Mexican "Indians".

A relative small minority of Mexicans are actually full-blooded descendents of the Castilian Spanish conquistadores and their followers in Mexico.

Probably about half of the population or slightly more are so-called "mestizos" or are of mixed blood.

Personally, it's a rather distasteful term to me but the folks south of the border are the ones who use and invented it.

Posted by: Reporterward on May 3, 2006 02:23 PM
24. As an almost life-long resident on the border (Rio Grande, that is), I find this uniquely arrogant on the part of the illegals. You should see what Mexico does to the illegal immigrants it receives from south of its border with Guatemala.

Stupid can't be fixed. And leave it to the Marxists who don't have jobs to be able to come out and stir up cr** in the city.

26. *From the Seattle Times. *

"Gregoire said it's a coincidence that Fox's visit comes at a time when immigration dominates the news, but she expects him to address the topic.

Thousands of immigrants, mostly Latinos, rallied in Washington and across the country on Monday in response to legislation in Congress that would make it a felony to be in the U.S. without proper documentation or to assist illegal immigrants. The bill, which passed the House of Representatives in December, also would build 700 miles of fence along the U.S.-Mexico border.

*Now Read This: *

"He needs to be very clear those punitive bills would not only violate the civil rights of individuals, but would dramatically affect the ability of growers in Washington to find available labor. That's the biggest message he could send," Rose-Avila said. (http://www.magdaleno.org/)

*Violate who's civil rights? Civil rights are provided to those with an American Citizenship ONLY. Why are they confused about that? Do I have civil rights in Mexico? No, of course not. If the premise for illegal border crossings are that it provides available access of agricultural workers, then I will explain the next time I am pulled over by a State Trooper that the reason I was speeding is that it was to provide better commute times for everyone since I spent less time clogging the road with my car. Think that would fly?

1. Fix Immigration Laws,
2. Punish or close all companies who refuse to follow highering laws,
3. Seal the borders with walls, no-man lands and eliminate all crossings.
4. Provide an effective method of earning citizenship, including the mandatory ability to speak English. Earning being the key word.

27. These protesters don't come to the table with clean hands.

(1) "we didn't cross the border, the border crossed us." statement is insulting and hypocritical. This land belonged to the native americans and if anything the land should go back to them. Mexicans are nothing more than Spainards and the last time I check, Spain is in Europe.

(2) Mexicans claim repression, but ignore the rape, torture, and repression of the native american class in Mexico. How can they claim to be non-europeans in America and then murder native americans in Mexico?!

"Outsourcing Education"
My latest column in The Stranger is up

With all the concerns about outsourcing, I was curious to learn we're now outsourcing education to Mexico, which ranks last among major nations in educational achievement. In a recent teleconference with Mexican President Vicente Fox, Governor Christine Gregoire announced a high school curriculum from the Mexican government that "will allow 55,000 Latino students in Washington to take school classes online in Spanish."

There's not much substance yet. The program's objective is to offer limited-English speakers an alternative for earning graduation credits. Sounds nice, but it's a cop-out: Already, tens of thousands of Spanish-speaking students languish indefinitely in "transitional bilingual education" and never become functionally literate in English.

45.
A retired border patrol agent shows some common sense. This letter sent to Tennessee Senator Bill Frist from a retired border patrol agent, and it has more common sense than all the bull being spewed from the Senate, with the exception of a few sensible representatives.

Dear Senator Frist:

There is a huge amount of propaganda and myths circulating about illegal aliens, particularly illegal Mexican, Salvadorian, Guatemalan and Honduran aliens.

#1.
Illegal aliens generally do NOT want U.S. citizenship. Americans are very vain thinking that everybody in the world wants to be a U.S. citizen.

Mexicans, and other nationalities want to remain citizens of their home countries while obtaining the benefits offered by the United States such as employment, medical care, in-state tuition, government subsidized housing, and free education for their offspring. Their main attraction is employment and their loyalty usually remains at home. They want benefits earned and subsidized by middle class Americans. What illegal aliens want are benefits of American residence without paying the price.

#2.
There are no jobs that Americans won't do. Illegal aliens are doing jobs that Americans can't take and still support their families. Illegal aliens take low wage jobs, live dozens in a single residence home, share expenses and send money to their home country. There are no jobs that Americans won't do for a decent wage.

#3.
Every person who illegally entered this nation left a home. They are NOT homeless and they are NOT Americans. Some left jobs in their home countries. They come to send money to their real home as evidenced by the more than $20 billion sent out of the country each year by illegal aliens. These illegal aliens knowingly and willfully entered this nation in violation of the law and, therefore, assumed the risk of detection and deportation. Those who brought their alien children assumed the responsibility and risk on behalf of their children.

#4.
Illegal aliens are NOT critical to the economy. Illegal aliens constitute less than 5% of the workforce. However, they reduce wages and benefits for lawful U.S. residents.

#5.
This is NOT an immigrant nation. There are 280 million native born Americans. While it is true that this nation was settled and founded by immigrants (legal immigrants), it is also true that there is not a nation on this planet that was not settled by immigrants at one time or another.

#6.
The United States is welcoming to legal immigrants. Illegal aliens are not immigrants by definition. The U.S. accepts more lawful immigrants every year than the rest of the world combined.

#7
There is no such thing as the "Hispanic vote". Hispanics are white, brown, black and every shade in between. Hispanics are Republicans, Democrats, Anarchists, Communists, Marxists and Independents. The so-called "Hispanic vote" is a myth. Pandering to illegal aliens to get the Hispanic vote is a dead end.

#8.
Mexico is NOT a friend of the United States. Since 1848 Mexicans have resented the United States. During World War I, Mexico allowed German Spies to operate freely in Mexico to spy on the U.S. During World War II, Mexico allowed the Axis powers to spy on the U.S. from Mexico. During the Cold War, Mexico allowed spies hostile to the U.S. to operate freely. The attack on the Twin Towers in 2001 was cheered and applauded all across Mexico. Today, Mexican school children are taught that the U.S. stole California, Arizona, new Mexico and Texas. If you don't believe it, checkout some Mexican textbooks written for their schoolchildren.

#9.
Although some illegal aliens enter this country for a better life, there are 6 billion people on this planet. At least 1 billion of those live on less than one dollar a day. If wanting a better life is a valid excuse to break the law and sneak into America, then let's allow those one billion to come to America and we'll turn the USA into a Third World nation overnight. Besides, there are 280 million native born Americans who want a better life. I'll bet Bill Gates and Donald Trump want a better life. When will the USA lifeboat be full? Since when is wanting a better life a good reason to break the law and trash another nation?

#10.
There is a labor shortage in this country? This is a lie. There are hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of American housewives, senior citizens, students, unemployed and underemployed who would gladly take jobs at a decent wage.

#11.
It is racist to want secure borders? What is racist about wanting secure borders and a secure America? What is racist about not wanting people to sneak into America and steal benefits we have set aside for legal aliens, senior citizens, children and other legal residents? What is it about race that entitles people to violate our laws, steal identities, and take the American Dream without paying the price?

For about four decades American politicians have refused to secure our borders and look after the welfare of middle class Americans. These politicians have been of both parties. A huge debt to American society has resulted. This debt will be satisfied and the interest will be high. There has already been riots in the streets by illegal aliens and their supporters. There will be more. You, as a politician, have a choice to offend the illegal aliens who have stolen into this country and demanded the rights afforded to U.S. citizens or to offend those of us who are stakeholders in this country. The interest will be steep either way.

There will be civil unrest. There will be a reckoning. Do you have the courage to do what is right for America? Or, will you bow to the wants and needs of those who don't even have the right to remain here? There will be a reckoning. It will come in November of this year, again in 2008 and yet again in 2010. We will not allow America to be stolen by third world agitators and thieves.

48. KS,

LIBERAL AMERICAN WHITE GUILT

I think what Agustin may be talking about is what is coming very soon (this summer) for Washington State (primarily the Seattle Area). He is saying that we are next in line to experience the heavy hand of Mexican extortion and insurrection like many communities in California. For all intents and purposes, many of those communities are American satellite extraction points for Mexico where income from social services that cannot be supported by the population is channeled back to Mexico. They are literally being economically sucked dry, all while they ignore Governor Schwartzenegger's warnings and pleas for sane reforms.

What would make anyone believe that the leaders in Washington State will act appropriately in the face of this challenge from people inside our communities, when they won't support our President in a War against enemies outside of our country? Liberals like Madelyn Allbright who say that Iraq was an unnecessary war, believe that going along to get along is the key to peace and in her own way, she is right. For anyone who would like to weaken America, going along with the illegal immigration normalization movement is the perfect and timely method to achieve that outcome.

Gregoire and her ilk see illegal Hispanic uprisings as her golden opportunity to misdirect and further consolidate liberal communist power. LATINOS LEADER WILL TAKE OVER CA,LA IN 5 YEARS TO PUT LATINOS LEGISLATION.

L.A. Mayor Villaraigosa's close friend Mario Obledo, co-founder of MALDEF (Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund) and winner of the 1998 Presidential Medal of Freedom, awarded by President Clinton, made these racist remarks on the Tom Leykis talk show on 6/17/98 and on the Ray Briem talk show on 6/17/98. Asked by Ray Briem if he thought that the statement was racist, Obledo said "No, because that's a reality. California is going to be inhabited mostly by Hispanics.

"We're going to take over all the political institutions of California, in five years, we're going to be the majority population in this state. California is going to be a Hispanic state and anyone who doesn't like it should leave" and "Well, if they (Anglos) don't like Mexicans they ought to leave. They ought to go back to Europe." Listen

When asked if he would help in preventing illegal crossings, Fox made it clear, as if that were necessary anyway, that Mexico would not attempt to prevent Mexicans from illegally crossing into the U.S.A.

“We can’t infringe upon the right of people to move freely within our territory.”
Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa is now working on behalf of Mexico in defiance of the will of Los Angeles' citizenry -- giving Los Angeles away. The evidence is clear.

Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa exemplified his intolorance for views other than his own, of other politicians -- especially Latino politicians, when at the Los Angeles Omni Hotel, on June 14, 1997, when he was speaker of the California Assembly, said to the attendees at the annual meeting of the Southwest Voter Registration and Education Project:

"Because you know what? It's not enough to elect Latino leadership if they're supporting legislation that denies the undocumented drivers' licenses, they don't belong in office friend, they don't belong here." Watch

When Villaraigosa was asked in the mayoral debates what he would do about illegal immigration, he said that the U.S. has the right to enforce its immigration laws, but that it was the federal government's job to to do so.

Now that he succeded in fooling the voters, he has sided with law breakers against the Federal Government and citizenry who elected him as is apparent in his address to tens of thousands of mostly illegal aliens.

Uncontrolled illigal immigration brings: Closing of hospitals, overcrowded failing schools, overcrowded jails, deteriorating quality of life, homelesness, traffic conjestion, having to ship our garbage, third world safety and zoning violation, illegal vending, day laborers, gang crime, Security risk. So how is the mayor who has promised to fix L.A., going to fix it? I guess he'll cross that bridge when he gets to it.

California Senator from L.A. County Richard Alacon
At a town hall meeting on March 18, 2004, at Los Angeles City Hall, hosted by Antonio Villaraigosa and the Foundation for Taxpayer and Consumer Rights, Richard Alarcon declared that health insurance was the "right" of every Californian (including illegal immigrants whose use of California's free health care is the major cause of its meltdown).

As a California Senator and a Los Angeles City Councilman before that, his past legislative voting record is strong evidence that he is more interested in saving the world's poor than representing middle class Americans. Alarcon has strong ties to the Communist Party.
Villaraigosa has a disturbing background which, with the help of the news media, he has managed to keep under the radar. As is now clear, he makes no bones about his opposition of controlling illegal immigration.

California Assembly Speaker

from Los Angeles

Fabian Nuñez
Mr. Nunez was a speaker at the Latino Summit Response to Prop 187 at U.C. Riverside in January, 1995. where 500 pro-alien activists, made racist and seditious speeches:

Nunez: "...there's only two kinds of power in this country and in this world ... economic power, and we don't have economic power because we don't own the means of production, but there's another form of power, and that's the power of the masses. So you can be as revolutionary as you want..."

"...The time has come for unity... in 1996 we are going to Washington on a mass mobilization there to bring Washington to a standstill so that they know we are there and that we begin to put into place those things that are necessary to insure that we advance the interests of our community."

Using terms like "we" and "they," it can only be concluded that Nunez does not think of himself as an American.

On Feb 11, 2006, Nunez participated in a Riverside, CA summit where racist and seditious speeches were made leaving no doubt as to who the "we" and "they" are. Watch

It is ironic that ex-cop Councilman Dennis Zine as a member of the Public Safety Committee would for political reasons ENDANGER the public. On Saturday, June 28, 2003, I met with Zine at one of his functions at which time he agreed to meet with me for a dialog on the controversial Special Order 40 issue. The following week, I met with him to consider a resolution to investigate the immigration status of gang members -- but Zine would only consider gang members who did not have injunctions placed on them. He told me that it would be asking too much to investigate the immigration status of ALL gang members because some of the other Latino council members might not approve. After receiving a letter from Zine chuck full of excuses why he couldn't do anything about waiving Special Order 40 in the case of gang members, I answered him with this letter.

Letter from CCIR exposes Zine as an unprincipled fickle politician.

50. All things(particles) are molecules. All molecules are atoms. All atoms are electrons and protons. All electrons and protons are quarks and gluons. Quarks and gluons are so small that all they is "fuzz-balls" of vibrating energy. All matter is energy.
There is vast amount of space in between all these things. Humans are things. And humans are mostly space with things floating around in it.
"Matter" is a product of electron exchange. Electrons are exchanged in the synapse of the brain. Thought is a product of this exchange. Humans (particles floating around in space) NOW have an ego.

So far this has been physics as I understand. The following is philosophical.
Ego has been the cause of all suffering. There in another entity. That entity is us. We are the life force of this organism. Without this spirit life functions cease. The particles will deteriorate and the mind disappears when we move out. Do not ask me what happens to us or where we go or why we are here in the first place. I do know that we do not die. We are spirit. Ego-beings is what many humans feel that that is what we are. The ego deters the manifestation of The Great Spirit intent .
Thank You for your time,my brother.

51. Nien Lie-ves,

Conflict is the cause af all suffering, not ego, and in life, conflict is inevitable.
We revert to spirit when we no longer have bodies to feed, family to care for, and a nation to protect from other nations of fools who refuse to care for themselves. The eternal process of change and struggle will never end because it was never meant to end, and attempts to make it end -- to escape reality -- will always be in vain.

Minimalism is not what god intended for men or life would not be useful in itself, because only through conflict, struggle, and resolution can real goodness be revealed in life. Otherwise, life itself is meaningless; an endless liberal quest for more comfort, hedonistic pleasure, and nihilistic relativism.

Liberty within reasonable bounds for each individual man to find his own way is god-like and meaningful, and it is the vision of the American forefathers. Ego is necessary for survival on earth, and those who denounce it have too much of it for their own good. It is easy to surrender things that are not yours to begin with, and such hubris is beyond ego -- into egomaniacal.

Liberal false pride knows no bounds.

52. More and more, I am running into people that are developing high levels of
hate for their fellow man. It is as if the country has be infiltrated by
the German Nazi party. Gone from these people is compassion, it is as if
they never really understood Christ's message; of love thy neighbor.

The most funny thing about this new condition, is that just about six years
ago, the country was riding high. Everyone had most everything they wanted
or at least needed. Even Bill C. had a place to rock his stuff. But that was
not enough, the people wanted the oil that lay under Suddam H's. feet. So a president was put in office that sounded like he would go and get it for them.
It turned out, the man was as ignorant as he was long winded. Now the people
have nothing but mounting bills to show for the effort. And so the people now look
for someone to blame for their greedy, not so well thought out actions. Unlike real men, they are
not prepared to swallow what they have called upon themselves, so they look
for scapegoats.

Luckily, we have seen this story before in Nazi Germany and know not to
trust these hateful self-righteous people. The good book says there will be a great war between the good and evil. The questions are
what side will you be on and will you know one side from the other? The bible tells us to look for the mark of the beast to signal the time. I myself have
chosen to look into the hearts, of people, for signs of the mark. What I have found is the mark of HATE: A mark that is indeed beastly.

"Remember, young Jedi, FEAR leads to ANGER leads to HATE leads to the DARK
SIDE. It's never to late to turn away from the road to the dark side."

"FORCE" be with you !
