1. No, not a spat. That is a spectator wingtip oxford.
A spat is a sock-like ankle gaiter of broadloom cloth with discree side fasteners, worn over the top of the shoe to cover those nasty garish shoe fastenings (whether buckles, buttons, or ties) for late-Victorian and Edwardian formalwear.
See? Something to learn everyday here at Sound Politics.
2. However, I would like to see Nickels and Steinbrueck in either a pair of pairs of spectator wingtip oxfords, OR spats, whichever their respective staffs can efficiently acquire.
3. Clothier -- My bad. Thanks for the info! I did more thorough research and I believe that the current picture is, indeed, a spat.
4. Clothier,
You rock! Can you recommend a good haberdasher?
Men don't dress worth a crap any more...expecially in Mr Nickles town.
5. Regrettably, I have no recommendations for tailors or haberdashers, although I have heard that the shop and tailor(s) in the Olympic Hotel are four-star, as is their location.
And I do rock. More than the world will ever know. The Shark can check my IP and attest to this. :)
6. In the past-tense of spit?
7. Clothier,
Alas...more's the pity. I'll check out the Olympic next time I'm in town.
I think someone could write a decent thesis on the correlation between the rise of liberalism and the decline of a decent fedora.
8. Seems to me not to long ago if you wanted to live around parks ,walking distance of your childs school, and no tall buildings ,you would live in the suburbs!Seems Seattle folks want both ,and then force their "livable"standards on everyone else.
9. Diogenes, I you recommend a good haberdasher - Mario's, they have never failed to meet my needs.
10. When I hear "spat" in regard to a fight I think of a girl fight. A perfect image for these two morons.
