UW Prof: Childlessness "Profoundly Human"

So it has come to this. University of Washington psychologist David P. Barash writes admiringly in a Los Angeles Times op-ed of the high rate of childlessness among German women. To exercise free will is only human, Barash argues, and so choosing childlessness is "profoundly human."

Low birth rates sow confusion and a self-extinction impulse among urban Democrats. So, yeah - there's an upside. But.....low birthrates also have vast geo-political implications for Europe, something Barash blithely skates past in his eagerness to celebrate childlessness.

Leave it to a Seattle psychology professor, I guess.

1. The only hope America has at this point is for the conservatives to have many children and the liberals to continue their "noble" pursuits of utopia in a childless society. I'm just afraid the the radical Muslims will become dominant here, as they have in Europe, before our children are old enough to influence policy...and then it will be too late...for all of us!

2. I believe Barash is on the list of David Horowitz's 100 worst (or most dangerous) college professors in the U.S.

3. This is the beautiful thing about the Progressives, Socialist, Leftists, Democrats, etc. and their culture of death. It's self exterminating. Like all collective ideologies, it will ultimately fail.

It's no wonder Progressives are so supportive of Totalitarian Islam. Another culture of death that seeks it's own eradication through suicidal combat.

I'm glad those who think like Barash won't be procreating.

4. So, if childlessness is profoundly human, does being prolific make one subhuman? That seems to be this man's inference, when he compares people with large families to mice. Better tell the Seattle Public School system we found us a racist! I have never seen Mr. Barash, however, I know he must be white. He observes the existence of a white German upperclass. Therefore, his views align with those defined as "racist", and because his views are racist, he must be white. Isn't it great that we have public schools to teach us logic?! Where would we be without this kind of enlightened leadership?

5. One of those "Talk Show Radio's" was discussing the "plight" of the "working mom" and how marginalized they feeeeeel about believing that they are being dissed because they aren't able to spend as much "quality time" as stay~at~home mothers.

It wasn't that they regretted their decision to work, or their conscious choice to spend so much of their time away from their children, but rather it was the impression that others might think about them!

I suppose that I should be impressed that at least some of the lefties are repopulating their ranks, but it must be really special to grow up knowing you were an "accessory" for your mama....

6. So these poor working mothers feel marginalized. Well ain't that a shame. Now maybe they know what it was like when they looked down on mothers that stayed at home.

Women have really been liberated - to do as they are told by someone not of their choosing, have to ask permission from this person if they can spend time with their family. Oh so liberated!

7. Another DEATHOCRAT...this is mind blowing...destroying the family at every turn. Why can’t you just leave it alone…..chop chop chop

within 2 generations sharia law will be the rule of Germanistan and smart guys like Barash will intellectualize how profoundly human it is to burka the women and kill the non believers.

Barash's point of view is a death wish for a free world and it is condescending and hetrophobic and MOST OF ALL OBSCENE ON THE FRIDAY BEFORE MOTHERS DAY to "celebrate" this.

SP has been overloaded with this stuff this week...every post documenting unbelievable attacks on everything decent.

Great post on how to be so smart and have ZERO wisdom.

8. I work in Seattle, thank God I don't live there. Many of the women in my place of employment act as though their dogs and cats are their children - it's somewhat disturbing. They also claim that the world is to "F"ed up to bring a child into at this point in time. Imagine if that was the attitude throughout history. Where would the great music, art architecture, medicine, science, etc. have come from.

Every single person born (regardless of color, stature, ability, impairment) has the potential to achieve greatness. It is most human to contribute to our own potential future and our children's children's future. Our God (I believe) has a purpose for us all. I would like to raise a cheer to ALL Mothers out there, you truely are sacred and may God bless all of you this Mother's day and every day.
