Sound Events

I'm pleased to unveil Sound Events -- The Sound Politics Community Calendar.

Sound Events is a free listing of events of interest to our reader community -- political group meetings, campaign events, lectures on timely topics, etc. Posting an event notice is free and open to the public.

Check out the current listings, post some new ones and let me know how it works!

I invite groups from a broad spectrum of persuasions to post their events.
The list will remain unmoderated as long as it's not abused.

I tried something along these lines a few months ago, but the 1.0 version required an administrator (i.e. me) to post and maintain the listings and that wasn't practical. The 2.0 version should be 100% self-service. All you need is a TypeKey login (for basic security and spam control). Once you login you can post as many events as you like and edit and revise your postings as needed. Just visit the Sound Events page, it should be self-explanatory.

It's still new, some start-up bugs and usability problems are expected. Please report those and I'll do my best to resolve them.

2. Let's remember how the left and right ganged up to kill the gas tax repeal last year. Getting on the ballot is step # 1. Now comes the hard part.

Watch the misinformation meter peg off the end of the scale. The First Amendment right-to-lie-in-political campaigns lives in Washington.

3. Shark,

The events calendar and the new forum is great! One quick note on the calendar: is it possible to get another column for "event title"? Or keep it in the same column, but parse it somehow, so people click on the "title" for the description. Thanks!

4. Patrick, thanks for posting the event announcements. Your suggestion is reasonable and I may well implement that in the next update. In the meantime, it uses the first 40 characters of the description as a capsule summary for the main listing page and also for the right hand sidebar of this blog. So you can write the descriptions in such a way that a brief title appears at the head of the description.
