Thoughts on Maria & Ron

Yesterday's story in the Seattle Times about the relationship between Maria Cantwell and Ron Dotzauer is interesting, but doesn't cover a ton of new ground. Those familiar with the local political scene are familiar with their long-standing relationship, though the Times politely doesn't delve into some of the more tawdry rumors that have been out there for years on this issue. The story, and its sidebar, did touch on two interesting facts: the fact Dotzauer is now a registered federal lobbyist, and the fact he has owed Maria Cantwell money on a personal basis for years. That is peculiar.

Candidly, it appears unseemly to have a registered federal lobbyist personally on the hook to a sitting US Senator, particularly when that lobbyist gives such a disparate explanation about the loan itself. He doesn't remember why it occurred; yet Cantwell's spokesperson says "Ron was going through a personal circumstance." Something doesn't smell right about that.

1. The issue with Dotzauer's loan is what was the purpose of Cantwell's "donation" to him. If it was a PAYMENT for campaign services it had to be listed and disclosed as such. If a gift for five years what is he doing to REPAY her and why hasn't he repaid the "loan." There is more to this story than what was in the newspaper and an explanation is needed from Mr. Dotzauer for the purpose and why he hasn't repaid it.

2. Tawdry rumors? Never knew there were any.

3. Susan,

Are you dumb or just stoopid?

4. I do have to say, though, after reading that sidebar: the guy's response is pretty wierd. If someone "loans" you $15-50k, you KNOW why, at least!

5. I seem to recall the story mentioned that Maria and Ron "dated" off and on. Hmmm, I wonder how Ron's current wife feels about owing the EX money?

6. Thanks Patricia, you saved me the trouble. "Susan" is a troll who wouldn't know truth or integrity if it bit he/she/it on the bum.

7. When it is you, yes.....

8. Who borrows $15,000+, from a Senator and doesn't recall any of the details???

This stinks.

9. Methinks Susan the over-the-top Castro hater is also Jane the over-the-top anti-drunk-driving crusader.

They both have the same syntax and grammar; and they both try to wield guilt and shame as weapons in the same manner.

10. I just love the name of his company; "Strategies 360" - He even admits that he talks in circles!

11. If someone "loaned" me money, I know I would Remember how much (between $15m - $50m give me a break), and what it was for (personal crisis most people remember). I would rememeber the amount, where I picked up the check, and especially if it was in the Thousand's range.

Who do these people think they are fooling? I think Goldy should get right on this, there is foul smelling fish in the story....

12. Golly, Dotzauer must be a much better piece of a$$ than he appears or
Cantwell must be a lot hornier than she looks.

13. The nasty liberals love to tar people with vague accusations that have no basis in fact and therefore are impossible to refute. Perhaps it's time to play their when did you stop beating your wife game

In the grand manner of H'Asses and liberals in general... could it be HUSH MONEY for something Maria is hiding?

What are you hiding Maria? What does Mr Dotzauer have over you? Why did you pay-off a campaign operative to keep your secret?

14. Let's see Ron's the older "mentor" he knocks-boots with the young up and comer, helps her out professionally then attempts to parlay that relationship into $'s. HMMM doesn't this sound alot like the old Dr. Laura scenario? I wonder if Maria's pictures are going to start showing up on the internet. I wonder how Ron's lobbying clients are going to be paid off.

15. Comments from "Susan" which were formerly above are now gone, because as Alphabet guessed, it was our banned friend "Steve" in his usual lame disguise.

16. ...and Larry also gets credit too because indeed "Jane" is another alias that has been employed by "Steve." As have Alex, Alice, Jake, Sue, Betty, and Conservative not Republican.
