Few Eastsiders can be bothered to turn out for Darcy Burner

This hilarious entry was posted on the Eastside DFA blog: "Sitting. And waiting." (PDF here in case they modify the post)

we had a very good turnout at our anti-Reichert demonstration in downtown Bellevue late Friday afternoon. I was glad to see how many Seattle-based activists, representatives of NARAL and other groups lent their support by being on the line when it was truly needed - when a man like Karl Rove, objectively one of the most dangerous purveyors of divisive messages since Lee Atwater, was in our own neighborhood, pimping Congressman Dave Reichert.

And yet...I have to ask.

Where were you?

Now, a few of you did show. ... But most of Eastside DFA sits. And waits.

I doubt Darcy generates as much enthusiasm in the 8th District as her Seattle-based donors and activists want to believe she does.

I do not think it means what you think it means.

2. I hope they are patient. It's going to be a long wait for Darcy. Probably another two to four years when she can amass some more experience and position herself in a Blue district.

3. I don't know, Jeff. After all, this IS King COunty. Could end up being Burner on the 11th recount.

4. What is going on with the Burner Campaign? I have yet to see any significant spending from her side on anything.

I find it hard to believe that all that money she has raised is being or will be spent on luring voters.

5. I've yet to see a Darcy yard sign in this neck of the 8th... but then I haven't seen any mailers from her either....

I DID see a grand total of 2 Cantwell signs yesterday...

6. From Diane Tebelius in the Seattle Times today:

Diane Tebelius, chairwoman of the state Republican Party, conceded the political winds don't favor her party. But she said the state's three incumbent Republicans in Congress -- Reps. Reichert, Doc Hastings of Pasco and Cathy McMorris of Spokane -- will weather the storm.

"I'd be naive to tell you this is not a tough year for Republicans," she said, but "people need a reason to change horses in midstream."

Notice she didn't say that McGavick will weather the storm? Sounds like she's conceded the US Senate race.

Kinda tacky insulting the late, Lee Atwater. IMHO.

8. Darcy appears to be generating far more enthusiasm at the polls than the incumbant - and nobody who lives in Seattle is voting there.

She was talking about incumbants. Mike! isn't an incumbant, thus he has no storm to weather, so why would she talk about him when discussing incumbants?

You're joking, right? I'm looking at King County web results right now, and with only 29 of the 745 precincts in the 8th reporting results... that's 3.89% of the total poll votes counted (nevermind absentee)... she has 5,682 votes in her primary, he has 4,830 in his. A difference of 853 votes. In a primary. And did I mention that's only 3.89% of the precincts reporting?

You have to be smoking crack to call that "far more enthusiasm" at this point.

BINGO! Crack smokers are Darcy's base.
