Heh
Seattle AM radio station KIRO has been acquired by Bonneville International, a broadcasting company wholly owned by the Mormon Church. It'll be interesting to see whether the new owners retain the excruciatingly preaching-to-the-choir (no not that choir) David Goldstein Show. I can't think of an odder pairing than the left-wing, potty-mouthed, anti-religious Goldstein and the Mormon Church. But if Bonneville keeps Goldstein on the air, it would be a strict business decision. Savor the irony of Goldstein generating revenue for the LDS.

1. From Stefan's link
"Bonneville prides itself on "values-oriented programming"
BYE BYE GOLDY!!!
2. Stefan, The irony of this is palpable. How will little Ron Reagon sleep at night? Somebody needs to get Ron a new woobie right away.
3. aint capitalism a beee-yatch?!
any room at the Air America Inn?
4. Goldy and the Mormon church--Now that IS an interesting pairing, isn't it?
5. Goldy could have a special edition of "Drinking Liberally" broadcast on his radio show, live from the Montlake Ale House -- complete with a beer-drinking contest. Special prize to whoever can blow the highest on the portable BAC. Wonder if Bonneville management would approve?
6. Yeah, Goldy and the LDS won't mix. Betcha he and Ron Reagan will blame Romney when they get their walking papers. Which may be fair, if you think about it: If Bonneville ignores the bottom line in order to advance the interests of the Church, isn't it reasonable to think that a President Romney would be just as parochial?
7. is al Jezeera hiring?
8. Sounds like you guys are jealous that Goldy has a radio job.
9. The Mormons are a very pragmatic people. Having been the object of persecution, they tend to be a lot more tolerant of other views than might be the case with most Americans.
But of course there's the bottom line. Mormons aren't stupid, so I doubt very much they will tolerate any show that doesn't generate sufficient revenues, or especially ones that lose money.
Bye bye Goldie!
10. JM: Probably not for long!
11. Bring back Lloyd E Cooney!
12. Out of principle, since the Mormons stand for many things Goldy cannot abide, I'm sure he's already emailed them his resignation.
13. Didn't Bonneville own KIRO up until the late 90's?
14. Remember Bonneville previously owned KIRO TV and Radio until the mid 1990's
15. There it is, Bonneville owned both KIRO TV and KIRO AM until 1995. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KIRO_%28AM%29

16. Hinton - you are absolutely right. Knowing how principled and fair the left are, it is hard to believe that he hasn't already handed in his resignation. Maybe he could move to Air America!
17. 8. Sounds like you guys are jealous that Goldy has a radio job.

Nope. I worked in radio many years ago. Lousy hours and poor pay.
One stands a better chance at getting rich playing professional sports than doing it in radio. Those who are in it now have been there for awhile and it's their career.
And the others are doing it strictly to stroke their own egos.
18. What are Goldy's ratings?
19. Does that mean we have to listen to Pro-Romney ad's during commercial breaks?
20. Bonneville may prefer a more religious or family oriented lineup on Sundays. Here is what they have on their flagship station, KSL-AM 1160 in Salt Lake City:

I don't think a three hour political talk block on Sundays fits into Bonneville's style, regardless of the views being expressed. And perhaps even less so for someone who calls his blog "Horse's Ass" and has problems with using too many of the coarser words of our language.
Sorry Goldy ...
21. The best thing the Mormons could do is to leave Goldstein on the air. It's only after one gets many doses of Goldstein's anti-individual, racist, progressive, pro-tax, angry, un-American, profanity filled, jealous, whiny screeds that one realizes the true depravity of today's secular progressive. It's especially helpful and illustrative to have a secular progressive that is as arrogant and anti-individual as Goldstein, and also especially useful when one considers how unwilling he is to live by his own words.
We can't get enough Goldsteins, Al Frankens, Al Gores, etc. The best way to expose the left is to let them tell their story loud and clear. Let average Americans fully realize the change in their way of life that will have to occur to give the Goldstein's the full control of our lives that they so desperately seek. Let the average Joe feel the tax pain, the affirmative action racism, the economic disaster, the inconvenience of forced mass transit schemes, more educational failure, larger unions, larger bureaucracy, the continuing destruction of even the most mild and reasonable cultural strictures, etc., etc.
When the pain gets bad enough, folks will wake up.
22. As Measure pointed out, Bonneville used to own KIRO. Considering that it was a dominant, profitable, respected station at the time -- and it doesn't currently hold a candle to its former self, why should Bonneville care about what KIRO is doing now?
23. Methinks that soon Goldy -the wannabe dailykos- and the darling of the Blathering types -the wannabe horseasses- will be broadcasting from a pub table. Although hearing 'em on the pod cast get smashed as they talked was funny as they actually made more sense drunk then sober. Or maybe Goldy can see if Mike Webb is still broadcasting from home and needs a weekend filler. I'm sure that Blathering Michael could arrange a suitable invite. Would love to hear that phone call tween the two Mikes.

25. Boy Sharansky, jealous much?
26. Goldy is devoid of any conscience. Of course he'll stay on. As long as he is allowed to spew his mindless crap on someone else's dime, he'll jump at the chance like a duck on a June bug. But will LDS be willing to fund such a brain-dead punk? Time will tell.

28. Bonneville will also be acquiring KTTH AM and KBSG FM.
29. As with David Mathews, Goldy needs to be given a forum to expose what he stands for. Shutting him down gets him out of the spotlight. And that is not good. Buffoons need to be brought out into the open.

Well, I tried that with Mr. Mathews -- and I'll be the first to admit that I probably overdid it. You can see the end result below http://blog.usefulwork.com/cgi-bin/mt-comments.cgi?entry_id=7892
31. Maybe Goldie can boost his ratings by having ol Darcy Burner discuss her duties running the Ames Lake Home Owners Association.
He is about as good a talkshow host as he is campaign manager.
32. jim8--
it's not jealousy; most conservatives support his making money, even lots of money, on radio. at least he's not begging on some corner or getting regular victim settlement payments suing everyone.
it's more a case of watching someone throw a big, heavy boomerang. secretly, wouldnt one watch for the return flight & possible head-meeting results?
33. hi 2 all.
hello world! It is nice site. Keep working!
