County Councilman John Koster has declined to run as the Republican nominee against sitting Snohomish County Executive Aaron Reardon. It's tough to argue with Koster's logic:
"The late withdrawal by Sheriff Bart just does not provide me with enough time to be effective as a councilman for my district and to organize and launch a campaign proportionate to the challenge," Koster said. "I owe my supporters a fair shot at running a strong campaign, and the timing was not right."
As the article notes, there's not a lot of other takers lining up either.
Koster did say he might be interested in the future.

Posted by: swatter on March 29, 2007 12:05 PMLocal elections are pretty much Ds except for a smattering of Rs.
Legislative Districts (US) are all Ds, so what you talking about?
Bart really did a number didn't he? Took all the oxygen out by quitting at the last minute. I am not sure he even tried to campaign, except to challenge Reardon on sheriff cuts. Last year Reardon reinstated and added more sheriffs, so Bart's issue was toasted.
