Postman reports that former U.S. Attorney John McKay is speaking at next month's Mainstream Republicans conference.
I plan to attend and look forward to asking McKay what nobody in the mainstream media seems to have asked (at least I can't find the answers reported anywhere) -- what exactly did he do to investigate the allegations of illegalities in Washington's 2004 election? I'm particularly curious about his investigation into illegalities discovered only after the contest trial.
McKay's lack of reponse to my previous (indirect) queries has fed my skepticism. But I'm open to the possibility that my skepticism might have been premature and unfounded. Given the opportunity to speak with McKay directly, I will be open-minded and fair and will give him a chance to convey his side of the story to the Sound Politics readers. And for everybody's benefit, I'll try to schedule a dedicated interview with him that's more than a public question after his talk.

Posted by: jimmie-howya-doin on April 17, 2007 06:47 PMChoicepoint even admitted the lists were over 90% inaccurate, but ol Jebbie used them anyway. Scum.
You want to cry your eyes out about voter fraud, and close your eyes to the overwhelming evidence of election fraud, and the fact that every single voting machine error seemed to benefit Republicon candidates, and or Bush.

Shhhhhhh don't tell anyone. All the prosecutors were appointed by us. There is no way anyone in Florida or Ohio could possibly be indicted for election fraud...... This game is rigged. And they keep crying to see the super secret source code on all them machines. Not on your life!
You want a paper trail. Go Fu*k yourself! One can only wonder how many thousand people Blackwell successfully kept away from the polls in '04......
Don't even talk about the 3.5 million ballots never counted in the '04 election. Machine spoiled, or provisional ballots. It is strange that a minority voter's ballot had a no count rate 9 times that of a white persons.....

I just can't wait till democracy's dark cloud, the Republicon party, is flushed down the toilet of history. It must suck calling yourself a Republicon these days, with leaders like Bush, Cheney, DeLay, Hastert, Boner, not to mention Foley, Cunningham, Noe, Frist, or the Abramoff Gang.... Does the GOP have any leaders that are not going to prison? Probably not..... Pure scum.

He'd have to be an idiot to give SP an "interview". Whatever McKay may be, he's no idiot.
Posted by: The Ump on April 17, 2007 08:19 PMI would bet money on this.
Schumer: Mr. Mc Kay. Were you contacted by Karl Rove, or his staff, and pushed to bring criminal charges relating to the '04 election? How about the Washington State Republican Party? Yes, or no Mr. Mc Kay.
Boy, I sure wouldn't want to answer that question.
Posted by: Facts on April 17, 2007 08:49 PMWasn't it Gregoire's Own election Website that boasted that she had never raised taxes on the people of Washington?
Just asking since you are so interested in the
truth around here!
Wasn't it Gregoire, who after I747 was flushed down by the Liberal court, said she would make it her foremost duty to do somthing this session about these runaway property taxes?
Did I miss what she did to help this issue?
Just askin for the truth?

This post is about McKay, and Sharkansky, and (slightly) Dino. It's not about Her Honor, The Governor.
Don't worry, Stefan will soon give you another opportunity to rant about Her Honor, The Governor. But for now . . .
Posted by: The Ump on April 17, 2007 09:12 PMNot asking for a "replay" of the trial, we all know the result of that. Even the Judges ruling and admonishment of KCRE should have been enough for a thorough investigation.
If Mckay was did his Job, then he should have no problem what so ever answering a few questions.

Posted by: chris on April 17, 2007 09:27 PMI still think Florida was okay for the feds to get involved because we needed a president and one State shouldn't be allowed to delay that. When it was all said and done, Bush lost about two months that could have been used organizing his government. When he did occupy, it stil took a couple of months to get to day one.
So, maybe I have a different read than others in the voting fiasco of '04.
Someone mentioned the other day- Clinton Republicans- and I almost choked. Is their new name- Mainstream Republicans? Just asking.
Posted by: swatter on April 18, 2007 06:58 AMShe is like a normal Republicon voter. Not interested in politics past the one issue they got misled on. They care nothing about good government, openness, accountability, or honesty, and refuse to even watch the news. They live in la la land, and unless struck on the head, ignore everything in government.
By the way. Are you saying Jebbie did not kick all those minority vets off the voting rolls? Did you follow any of the links I provided.
Posted by: Facts on April 18, 2007 11:53 AMThe apple fell from the neighbor's tree, I can see that. They normally don't fall too far.
If you peg your own mother in such a rude manner, I would hate to be at one of your family dinners.
Back to topic. Mckay stated publically several times that there wasn't enough evidence to proceed with an investigation. OK. Got it. They looked into it, and folded.
My question, and many others too is:
What did they investigate.
What did they rule out
What did they include.
When did the investigation begin
When did it end.
You know the kinda info that would be in a file somewhere, and should be public knowledge.
PS I hope the heck your mom doesn't read this blog......
Have the SOS explain why he endorses a law that is so blatently unconstitutional under both the state and federal Constitutions.
I'd love to hear his answers to these questions which have nothing to do with the 2004 stolen election and his complacency in it.
Posted by: drw on April 18, 2007 01:01 PMOngoing investigation my A$$!!!
McKay said he found nothing.
Show me the "FACTS" that this is an ongoing investigation????
It's not...it's over.
That's the problem.
I want to see the Files....who McKay interviewed, when, what he asked, what was the reply, what documents did he look at and how did McKay draw his conclusion.
Stefan--
Be sure to carefully word your question.
You will be lucky to get even one "bite at the apple".
You will probably need to ask a 3-part question with Part 2 & 3 being your anticipated follow-up questions assuming McKay only looked at information presented at the Trial.
Good luck.
Be sure to ask McKay if he has any problem with the government releasing his entire file on his "investigation" so the Public can see precisely what he did.!!!!!!!
Why would McKay object to that??
The investigation is over.
