Darcy's Back!

Darcy Burner is tan, rested and ready and resuming her perennial campaign for Congress.
Check out her two new campaign videos.

The first was recorded in the car on her road trip to Wenatchee.

The second was recorded in the car on the way to the Kingston ferry terminal.

Maybe one of these days she'll campaign in her own district.

1. The fact that such a person could even be a contender with as fine a candidate as Reichert in office is testament to the low quality of the Puget Sound electorate.

Yet another reason to leave....hurry up and sell before the housing market drops another 8 percent...

2. God, way to ruin a perfectly good Wednesday, Stefan: up close and personal with Darcy's (WHO???) nose.

Ick.

3. Stefan -- don't encourage Darcy to do this! If she would spend about 1/2 of her time campaigning in the southern 1/2 of the 8th district (especially in Pierce County), she could win next time.

4. I was watching the movie S1m0ne last week. The movie was not great, but I managed to stick around to the end, and I was glad that I did. I have always felt that Burner is a totally bogus politician. The final seconds of the movie more or less confirmed that. Here is a link to the script. Check out S1m0ne's final lines at the bottom of the script, and recall why Ms. Burner got involved in the 2004 house race.
Blech!

5. After watching the second video, I wonder how many other people waiting in the ferry line didn't know which ferry they were about to board?

If this is all the Dems have to throw at the 8th this time, Reichert must be chuckling.

I'd like to see her driving around the Microsoft campus in Redmond and talk about how she used to be an "executive" of the company.

I don't think it's too wild of a prediction to say that the "blue wave" that hit the normally conservative Eastside districts last year is going to be pushed back across Lake Washington in 2008 due to what Eric Oemig has done in this legislative session.

Burner's anti-war, evil Bush screeching isn't going to carry her far in the next election, due to the Bush exodus. If she continues to harp along those lines, she's going to be associated with the loons like Oemig, and she will suffer in the polls because of it.

6. Was what I just watched Thelma and Louise or Paris and Nicole? What a riot! It was kind of fun clicking her nose, though.

7. Burner's anti-war, evil Bush screeching isn't going to carry her far in the next election, due to the Bush exodus.

Yeah, at that point everyone will be more than happy to be rid of him and Reichert too since he really doesn't have any influence anymore due to the GOP blowing the 2006 elections.

8. I just love that there's a link for a website called "horsesass.org" in a Congressional candidate's video. That was a nice touch of class there.

So what exactly is this woman campaigning on, besides the idea that people who have no previous experience with politics should become involved in it? (I've noticed that this is a recurring theme with Democrats, this urge to recruit new voters -- what's the matter, can't convince people who have been around the block a couple times to vote for you? Why IS that, do you suppose?)

9. Maybe one of these days she'll campaign in her own district.

Maybe one of these days she'll campaign while not under the influence of controlled substances -- geez, was it just me, or did she come across as suspiciously mellow, giddy, and just a bit "out of it" all at the same time?

Oh, nice, big, Earth-destroying SUV she's got, BTW =)

10. Darcy continues to show that she is very inexperienced and not very professional. This isn't the kind of thing that impresses real people. Maybe secular progressive nutroots bloggers, but not the average Joe.

Posted by: Jeff B. on April 25, 2007 12:13 PM
11. I am surprised that no one mentioned how Darcy Burner is trying to look like Patty Murray. In this video, Darcy looks even more like Patty than during the election.

Darcy, you're a fake and a fraud...give it up.

12. Darcy's looks?

13. Pshhh. She cruises around Wenatchee and shows EZ's instead of Dusty's Drive In?!? What the heck were her campaign advisors thinking? The Curse of Chief Skookum will be placed upon her if she does that much more.

15. I wonder what happened with that rogue property owner on Ames Lake. ameslaker needs to provide an update....that's certainly more interesting than Darcy campaign updates.

17. Darcy was a very viable candidate until she opened her mouth removing all doubt about her lack of qualifications.

jvon says:
"I just love that there's a link for a website called "horsesass.org" in a Congressional candidate's video. That was a nice touch of class there."

I noticed that too.
Perhaps some choice posts from KLOWNsteins den of fools (aka LEFTIST PINHEADED KLOWNS) to show voters her "affinity" for wretched, foul-mouthed Bloggers.

18. She cruises around Wenatchee and shows EZ's instead of Dusty's Drive In?!?

Nothing against EZ's, but Dusty's four meat/four cheeser is a must anytime one stops in Wenatchee. Best. Burger. Ever.

19. Can't help but wonder if she's drawn inspiration from the bio of William Jennings Bryan...

...or perhaps she's initiating a canonization drive as patron saint of irrelevant causes...

FWIW, murray has actually won multiple elections, much to this state's discredit. Shooting for, but falling short of the mark, in emulating the dimmest bulb in the Senate is beyond pathetic.

20. "Maybe one of these days she'll campaign in her own district."

Why do you think she's driving around? She's trying to find it!

21. Oh, nice, big, Earth-destroying SUV she's got, BTW

I don't know how many trees she killed last election with the number of flyers slamming Reichert, but it was A LOT. I used them as kindling =)

22. Further, I am offended by her plea for people to "just get involved". How about get engaged, educated about the issues, then get involved?

The Dems like to say just get involved. Is it because they know that if you plea for people to "just get involved" and not educate them or let them research on their own that they will react emotionally (like dems do) and not think it trhough and act logically and with purpose (like reps do)?

25. Thanks Palouse @ 15 for the kind words. It's nice to be missed. I told you she would be back. I only hoped we would all get a little break from her constantly being in our collective faces. Oh well.

As far as an update, the Ames Lake Community Club ( that esteemed institution ) held it's annual meeting and food handout to the few attendees on Sunday. A new "board of directors" was "elected" - NOT. I am happy and relieved to report that Darcy Burner has no involvement in our neighborhood for this year, other than being one of 1400 residents of the area. Several months ago, she did send out an email voicing an opinion on our failed school levy, which was in turn, corrected by some more informed neighbors. If anyone cares to see this, respond in this thread, and I'll post on the Public Blog.

The Seattle Weekly has a story out today on Burner at :

http://www.seattleweekly.com/2007-04-25/news/burner-wastes-no-time-going-back-after-reichert-s-seat.php

They have a very funny caption under a photo of her, and mention her campaigning in Uptown Espresso. Correct me if I am wrong, but I don't think there is an Uptown Espresso in the 8th District.

Anyway, I'm still here, watching. Will contribute when and if relevant.

Posted by: ameslaker on April 25, 2007 02:43 PM
26. BTW, did you pick up on the line "Don't worry. I'm not driving." I believe her needing to say that was a part of her sentencing, for rear ending the car, on the day she filed to run in 2005. HA-HA.

27. Go ahead and post on the public blog anytime on this topic, ameslaker. We will read with interest.

28. Ameslaker,

As a neighbor in the School District, I would be very interested in seeing Ms. Burners musings on the topic. Please post them here for review...this should be interesting. I have never seen her at any school board meetings, boundary review meetings, fundraisers, working groups, volunteer boards. But I am sure that will not keep her from having an opinion.

30. OMG, like what ever! So I'm not, like, the loser of the election -- I'm a survivor, hee-hee. Gee whiz guys, vote for me.

Ahh man, not another Darcy candidacy. What about Ventrella or Hunter? They've got to be able to do better -- but considering the other mediocre elected's the Dems have to their credit, it doesn't surprise me this is the BEST they can put up.

I don't care what Darcy does, she'll never overcome this BRILLIANT AD that even today (esp. considering Darcy's YouTube "dear diary drivel") rings true.

Posted by: Patrick on April 25, 2007 05:22 PM
31. If one follows Darcy's path as she campaigned and now, one will find that she is far more concerned with appearances at key Democrat meetings than she is about her district. For a junior candidate in a suburban district, it's appaling that she has so little connection with her constituents.

In this day and age, we know politicans care little about their constituents. The last thing the 8th district needs is a "Hate Bush" style schmoozer candidate that name-drops key National Democrats. Darcy is more concerned with her clout amongst Democrat movers and shakers than she is about her district, or even as AmesLaker summarizes, about her own neighborhood.

Posted by: Jeff B. on April 25, 2007 05:50 PM
32. So Ameslaker, was she for the bond or against it? I seem to recall that she campaigned on how we have not "invested" enough in our schools and education. But, I have never seen her at any of the school functions, she never supported the bond in public that I am aware of and she never worked for it's passage. So which is it, hypocrite or laziness on her part? Or perhaps Henry will never darken the door of a public school so she just doesn't care.

33. Oh Barf Barf Barf Barf Barf...We need anothe tax happy liberal in this state right about now!

34. She needs a new suit... seriously she wears the same thing in every commercial and to every public appearance. I don't think I've seen her in anything other than the black jacket with the white blouse. Surely as a "former Microsoft Executive" she has some left over cash to buy herself a new wardrobe.

38. I loved her "what ferry is this?" Where am I and why am I here?
Ok, I was inspired by her ad to get involved. I will send money to Reichert and maybe anyone that is running against all of the great Democracy for America "All Stars".

39. There are two things Darcy Burner fails to do on a regular basis, vote, and change her clothes. Same shirt and jacket in the first and second video...ick, smelly

Posted by: chris on April 25, 2007 10:22 PM
40. In clip two there, she sez: "The reason we did so well in 2006 all across this country . . ."

All across this country?!? So what was she running for in '06? I thought she was trying to unseat Reichert. Apparently, she thought she was running against Bush.

This woman is such a lying boob (no pun intended). I'm just really at a loss as to how she managed to give Reichert a run.

Sheesh.

41. I think this comment thread has brought out an important point we've been missing: Darcy doesn't have anything better to do. I mean its like her whole life is now wrapped up in being "that candidate that almost won." If she keeps this up, what's going to happen down the road when she has to get a corporate job? What's she going to say, "oh I was running unsuccessfully for Congress for the past four years?"!!!
