Donations Kindly Accepted

Tuesday Update: We almost never mention money here at Sound Politics, at least money benefiting this site or its contributors. In follow-up to the below post from Sunday, please take a minute and throw some money in the tip jar at the upper right hand corner of the main page, or please consider making a modest tax deductible donation as discussed below (which like the tip jar, is just a click away). I'd be personally obliged for your support of a good cause.

****

As loyal readers know, Sound Politics is a site put together with no paid staff. If you haven't already noticed, there is an opportunity to donate directly to Sound Politics as a whole in the upper right hand corner of the main page. Those donations go to support the IT work and other infrastructure that Stefan graciously handles out of his own wallet and time. All of us, including me, owe him much thanks for that. If you haven't ponied up some change for that before, you should.

Now, as to me, I'm not asking you to give me money. But, for those who'd like to say thank you in a tax deductible way, you have the chance to bless my kids, Joseph and Sophia, instead.

Each year their school has a number of fundraisers, including an annual "jog-a-thon." This year's opportunity for the kids to run themselves into the ground occurs this Friday, May 4th. Proceeds of the fundraiser go to provide a long overdue paint job for the school as well as assorted education supplies as well. Top fundraising students are rewarded with a pool party later this year. All donations to the effort all tax deductible.

So, if you appreciate the oddity of my presence here at Sound Politics, click on the donation button below (which allows payment via PayPal account or credit card if you follow the instructions). If you think I'm a total punk, but would still like to give to a good cause, click away as well. If you think I'm the biggest moron of all time but would like to offer a mercy donation to my kids for having to suffer through my parenting then I suppose that works too.

Because of the logistics of how it works best for the school to collect the money (think old school envelopes), I'll be collecting donations, then giving half to each of my kids to submit with the other donations they're collecting.

Thanks in advance to those that give. And if you don't trust paying online, email me at ericearling at gmail dot com and I'll be glad to send you a snail mail address to send a check, and provide you with the school's Tax ID number for your records.

Thanks for reading.

1. Way to abuse your position, Earling. People come here for news and analysis, which they barely get from you (the others are good however). Now you are stooping to asking people to support your kids' charities? Come on.

Newsflash: this place isn't all about you personally. Don't degrade it with ridiculous chocolate bars in the lunchroom fundraisiing. Have some self respect and spare us the BS.

Get a life.

Eric-

I sent my $10 via PayPal earlier tonight. Tell the kids good luck, and best wishes!

6. Sounds like a good opportunity for children to learn the value of hard work and dedication.

Too bad Earling is going to do all the work for them and teach them nothing. We don't need any more spoiled kids in this country who feel they are entitled to everything.

7. For you naysayers above, think about having to dial for cash for your favorite politician. Tough job.

In candidate school, they tell you to hit up your friends and family first before going out to the community. If you can't do that, then you shouldn't be in the race because it is all about the benjamins.

Eric may be testing the waters here, but it costs money to run the site and Stefan may be too modest to hit us up. Is there something else going on here?

8. Bigdawg is a Husky who may or may not have attended the U.W. He is probably tired of being nickled and dimed to death in support of a losing program. Thankfully, he is also a liberal. Keep your money, Bigdawg. Others will pay your way.
