... to Bruce Ramsey for today's column: "Rossi ponders the future -- his own, and the state's"
Also be sure to catch Rossi's talk to the Mainstream Republicans last month, TVW video, here
Posted by Stefan Sharkansky at June 13, 2007 10:10 AM | Email ThisHad he made more of a distinction between his platform, and a neo conservative platform, he would have won by a fair majority.
Rossi or whom ever runs needs to reach out to fiscal conservative /Morally liberal and adopt a platform that will get their votes.
The neo cons have run their coarse.
Now they are just plain running.
I need checks and balances to even out the political landscape.
Another neo conservative platform will not git R done.
Get with it R's
Perhaps you don't know what "neo conservative" means ... ? Hint: neo conservatives are not social conservatives. Neo conservatives don't care about abortion or gay marriage. Neo conservatives trace their social policy roots to liberalism.
Posted by: pudge on June 13, 2007 12:26 PMWashington will be so fed up of mismanagement by the Gregoire-Sims-Nichols troika they will carry Rossi into office and appoint him Emperor for a few years to clean up the mess!
It will be interesting to see how this plays out.
And the timing of the speech versus the timing of the new Rs indicates that Rossi had a hand in it.
Lots of work ahead to get my candidates up to speed on spending and misplaced priorities.

Any Republican running for dog catcher on up will need this one repeated about 10 billion times to get elected. The stench emanating from the White House will doom vast numbers of non-comatose Republicans next election.

Posted by: Bill H on June 13, 2007 02:27 PMCriticism's of neo conservative
"Neo-conservatism has come in for criticism by some from other strands of the conservative movement. The rather disparagingly dubbed "paleo-conservatives" criticise neoconservatives for being too liberal and too internationalist"
"These neocons have taken over the conservative wing of the Republican party. And they have succeeded in doing so to the degree that the word 'conservative' is now being applied to individuals and ideas that are, in fact, liberal (in the leftist sense), socialist, and totally undeserving of the conservative label," he complained.[5]
>A platform I am not sure the R's have the underwearwithall to adopt..>
D's run on any platform with payouts, and win because the R's scare the hell out of everybody..again...>
He sold out or was bought out by the dins, don't know which, if either, but in any case it doesn't matter.
I don't vote for quitters or sellouts. Period.
republican / conservative my bleedin arse.
Yes, I am thoroughly disgusted with the man.
Posted by: fox3 on June 13, 2007 02:56 PMAre you trying to say that white house policy favors letting Gays have rights, allowing medical marijuana and single parenting..
Because that would be liberal.
Because they arent standing for those issues,
they cant possibly be liberal and are definately neo conservative in internationl policy sense, but still a neo conservative none the less.
My assessment and prediction stands, bottom line not liberal enough ,not fiscally conservative to get a win in 2008 ...
D's for another 4 years in the State and D's take the White House.
Eyman initiatives will be the only check and balance we will have.
Cuckoo! Cuckoo!
Posted by: pudge on June 13, 2007 04:21 PMGregoire turned out to be a dyed in the wool leftist Homocrat, and a damn poor Catholic.
If the Republicans can't turn all of that into the keys to the Governor's Mansion, then they truly deserve to roll in their own poop.
If I were a member of the Republican Party, I would be rioting for a change in party leadership. In this State the Homocrats cut the nuts off the Republican party long ago, and proudly march through the streets with their bounty in hand.
Shameful.
Posted by: Independent Voter on June 13, 2007 07:07 PMYou can complain about the legal standard necessary to overturn the election, but that is where your complaints should be focused, not on the GOP.
Posted by: pudge on June 13, 2007 08:12 PMThe D's have a wont be under staffed policy that gives our state more and more staff with less and less responsibility.
While the civic infrastructure gets social engineering cop outs and fascimiles.
C'mon R's think outside the church, and the corporate gouge.
A friend of mine who works in the medical practice, says they are amazed at how many young people come in and waive their medicare card and all of their medical expenses are covered.
And to top this off, if they cannot speak English, the medical office is required by this nanny state to bring in (and we all pay for) a $50 an hour interpreter for them.
They said one older individual who could barely speak english, said as he was leaving the office "I love America, everything is free here"!
And we wonder why medicare is going broke!
I recently saw a van in Tacoma, painted with "Governor Gregoire, she has got to go" on the back! This van should be driving or permanently parked around Olympia.
I also heard that up until recently, the Sound transit Union workers have been working 60 hour weeks, including saturdays, and I don't need to tell you what all that overtime is costing us all.
Small businesses are leaving this state in droves.
Run Rossi Run...
Before it is too late to save this Nanny state.

I'm not happy with the GOP at the state level or the national level- I'm giving it to candidates I like.
Posted by: Andy on June 13, 2007 11:05 PMBesides, every WEEK Gregoire gives the Republicans more dirt on herself, whether it is the clear, regular, and defiant violation of our Constitutional right to initiative through frivolous emergency provisions, or gross fiscal mismanagement, or massive and unwarranted budget increases, or the direct approval of the most corrupt activity I've seen in this state, ever: the Democrats legalizing the union stealing money from public employees in order to pay for getting Democrats elected to office.
