Suits heads South

Former KVI afternoon host Bryan Suits appears to have landed a new gig; KFI 640 AM in Los Angeles. He'll be guest hosting tonight and tomorrow from 7 to 10 p.m.

Suits wrote last night stating that he was having a meeting with the station's program director this morning and that he had been contacted by the LA radio station the day of his firing, Nov. 8, about bringing his talents south.

More details are to come but apparently the meeting was successful and Suits also hinted at the possibility of syndication.

The website at KFI has a "listen live" section for Suits fans going through withdrawals.

1. Well that's great for Bryan. I wish him well. If he moves down there, however, he won't like the real estate prices!

2. I was hoping for another radio host thread.

I want to say that the boze show is better than i was expecting. I could never stand the sytman and boze show and now I realize it must have been all sytman that I was disliking.

I still think Boze is to quick to take the party line no matter what and is over the top on his anti muslim rants but his program is tolerable and a much better show than we shared the airwaves.

Suits was better than the commentators. I thought I would like the commentators (never listened to it since it is during work hours) since I enjoy listening to both of the hosts but it turns out I do not like them together.

I do not like suits enough to bother listening to him in a different city.

I would like dave ross back in the afternoons (when I listen to the most radio). He choses interesting topics and even when i completly totally disagree with the man, his show is always polite and enjoyable to listen to. TOo many of the other hosts get rude and resort to stupid comments rather than good arguements which gets old real quick.

3. Dang...I go on travel for a few days and come home to find this??!! What the heck happened?
All the best to Bryan. I always enjoyed his segments and I wish him every success in the new assignment.

4. I agree with Travis, I've been wanting a radio thread again. I also want to say that Boze is doing a great job. I knew he would. He's so ready for this.
People have spoken negatively about Kirby and Co in the morning, but I really must give them props for their hilarious feature "Real Seattle Liberal". Truly funny stuff. Go to their website and get a listen if you haven't heard it. They occasionally play them at the :50 mark within different hours on the show. Way to go, K & Co!

5. I started here at KROQ in 1992 (500 feet west). The real estate prices here suck. However, the offset is that the payscales reflect the fact that this IS the #1 media market on earth. so there's that.
please enjoy John and Ken until 7pm, then Bryan Suits rides the baloney pony to cash town.

8. KFI? The most powerful hitter in So Cal? Good for him and definite promotion from this loony area. Like going from eating at McDonalds to a savy 4 star restaurant.

9. Hi Bryan,

Hope you were not offended that I will not listen to you in a different town.

Your show was good, just not enough small government push for me to listen to it via internet.

Glad to hear you landed on your feet down there.

Best of luck in LA, but do us a favor for old times sake, when Darcy Burner comes down there on her bended knee tour for funding and to kiss Fienstien's ring mock her without mercy. Bow chica bow bow.

11. Was able to listen to part of the new, California-based show tonight. Bryan was on the money, as always. So to speak. Best wishes, Bryan!

16. Good luck Bryan,

Your a long way from Port Angeles.

The armpit of America will be in your dreams forever ,no matter where you move to.

You will always see the mountains on one side, the Water on the other, and all of the drunken tweakers, and snow birds in between.

17. Bryan,
Great news! Just goes to show how messed up things are here when you can jump in this way to the largest market in the country. Wouldn't it be ironic that you get syndicated and run opposite the Commentators?
Don't let anyone say that you did this move to be closer to Dean Logan in LA. Let's see if he can loose your ballot down there.
BUT PLEASE --- tell us what becomes of your 4-legged dog food and glue factory in your back yard.

18. Anyone listening online...sorry if it sounds like i'm rehashing an old show. Ya gotta play to your strengths ya know? Dance with the one that brung ya, etc.

BTW-you should see these people freak about the rain.

19. Congrats Bryan,

No one will ever be able to replace your wit, sarcasm and ability to call it like it is no matter who you're talking about.

All the best.
Ken

20. har har...Bryan is right about the rain. I grew up in Los Angeles and rain is an actual event down there. Like people feel the need to announce it when it happens.

And Bryan, if the L.A. City Attorney gets into any more trouble like last summer, go easy on him. He was a close friend of mine back when.

Posted by: Michele on December 6, 2007 10:02 PM
21. I thank Bryan for his service in Iraq, but honestly, I've never thought he was a particularly good talk show host. I mostly thought he was a big 'eh', so it doesn't really affect me.

Anyhow, he seems like a good guy though, so I wish him well.

Posted by: cliff on December 6, 2007 10:04 PM
22. Don Ward, thank you for bringing this to the top of the list. Bryan, best wishes in your new endeavour. Next time the Seattle radio ratings come out you'll be glad you were available first. I'm not sure there is a place in LA radio for Ken schram. You are the "real deal". Merry Christmas. Dan Nelson

Posted by: Dan Nelson on December 6, 2007 10:16 PM
23. Sheeze, another station with George Noory and Dr. Laura! On the upside, they got Bryon. Congradulations ending up in that market! I gotta get that internet thingy going in the shop to pick up an LA radio station. Unthinkable 15 years ago.

I did enjoy your show Bryon, Seattle radio has a void without you. Are you changing your YouTube name? Can you even have a circle of trust in LA?

But maybe now, you will have a pool......

24. I almost feel bad for KVI. Suits was the best they had, and if the rumor is true that Kirby Wilbur and John Carlson are "perma-hosts" by contract, then there's nowhere for that station to go but down. Suits had some independent thought. But "Slur-by" Wilbur and "Um" Carlson are both Republican party hacks to the nth degree.

Best of luck to you Bryan.

Posted by: Shank on December 6, 2007 10:43 PM
25. I only listened to Bryan, never Ken, John, Kirby, etc. The new Kirby and Company is just laughable. Like some kind of Gen X, FM morning show. And Schram is useless on KVI, he should be at KIRO or Air America. Boze is ok, but I doubt he will last long.

Bryan was different. I heard a lot about Fisher management shakeups from some people I know on the inside. They can't tolerate difference. Their loss. And when their ratings decline, whoever made all the foolish moves will be fired too.

Godspeed Bryan!

Posted by: Jeff B. on December 6, 2007 11:07 PM
26. Jeff B. @ #25:
I would be very surprised if the "whoever made all the foolish moves" gets fired -- they will be promoted -- although they probably already are as high as anyone can get in the organization -- just typically homoginizing Seattle leftist crap -just review all the recent - last year or two - moves in the talk radio scene around here - stinks big time - I will always remember (hopefully I got it right - haha ) Bryan's statemeny I heard about 6 weeks ago -- "Seattle is a fraud wrapped in lies"

Posted by: Bill on December 7, 2007 02:37 AM
27. Well looks to me like the left wing Fischer management team are in the process of destroying the original seattle conservative talk station -- the local commies are very paranoid about next years national and regional elections -- besides all the previous "adjustments" now dumping Bryan -- between Dr Laura, compromising Wilber and Carlson's shows and Noorie and his little green men/sasquatchies//lake/swamp monsters etc -- looks like they are trying to morph it into a liberal slant -- at least stymie conservative opinion -- the only things left I listen to are Mark Levin and Ed Hume

Conservative talk radio is being deliberately targeted here - and anyone with any real personality (read that: head outta a$$)is getting the olde seattle bum's rush -- Mike Seigel, Pete Weisbach, now Bryan -- oh and funniest thing! -- I get such a great laugh when I here about "non-compete" clauses - applied to someone who has been dumped for low ratings - What! - he really is a threat -- naw - whoo'd a thunkit? - ROFLMAO

That statue of Lenin in seattle and the Stalinist "Hammering Man" statue in downtown seattle - ARE THERE ON PURPOSE - wake up you fools!!!!

28. Bryan.

Good luck buddy and enjoy the beaches from Redondo to Marina Del Ray. KFI is one big station.
Enjoyed listening to it when I was down there.
John & Ken are a riot!

29. Go to the KVI website and see if you can reaily find a 24hr/7day scehdule of the lineup - I didn't find it - must be hidden away up some deadend cyber alley --

Then click on the link to the comments re the afternoon changes -- I came up with "website not found"

All the home page toots is KW and Co., JC and KS, and the good(?) Dr. - anything else happening there??

Then click on the link for "The KVI Team" several shiny faces come up -- short on gravitas - (heh heh -- actually that is code for: when gravity gets hold of a$$)-- just the PD's it seems - no pics of any hosts -- aren't they part of the team?? (of course we know KS is there - just invisible)

30. Boze is okay. I would still prefer Carlson or Siegel by themselves.

The demise of KVI. It is my belief that the liberals hate talk radio and when they couldn't get the Fairness Doctrine passed, they bought the radio talk show stations. They intentionally decided to run them into the ground.

There is now the WABC taking on the country's I-man- Imus.

Posted by: swatter on December 7, 2007 06:56 AM
31. KVI was great for northwest conservatives and moderates until Brian Jennings left as their program director. From that point, things went and are still going down hill. When he left the other great hosts, both local and national left one by one. Don't know if they will ever recover.

32. I heard the show last night and it was great. Hit the nail on the head with the mortgage bailout.

I have been uploading and archive of some of Bryan's KVI shows here:

33. BRYAN.....I MISS YOUR HUMOR. I needed that M-F to help bring me back to reality after working 8 hours with feminazi's.

so there's that! lol.

I'll be listening to you at the new joint.
Good Luck man.

34. The first thing I thought when I heard about the Commentators was that the station was enacting the fairness doctrine in solidarity with that ugly DNC gang.

Their motives behind it will backfire on them, though, because whenever you put a conservative next to a lib (Hannity/Colmes) the lib always looks like a moonbat, and that only helps our cause.

Audiences recognize common sense.

Kudo's to Schrambo for his commentary on TSA screeners.

Posted by: chardonnay on December 8, 2007 05:24 PM
35. Bryan, you were the only reason I listened to KVI. Carlson is a wuss who reminds me of the Church Lady. Kirby has a speech impediment that drives me nuts. KVI without you is like a car without an engine.

When KVI parted ways with you, I parted ways with KVI. KVI now sucks. I hope the station goes under. It would serve those idiots right.

From an old Paratrooper to a real hero: thanks for your service to the country and to Seattle. You opened my eyes on many issues. I wish you and your bride the very best!

Posted by: ERNurse on December 9, 2007 09:12 AM
36. ERNurse; thanks a ton. I'll miss the Seattle area, but...no longer my focus. KFI is a phenomenal opportunity to correct a mistake I made years ago: leaving LA. This is where the work is. Period. For god's sake Dale Dye has a weekend show on KFI!
Now....how do I find a 6 month lease that allows 6 dogs?

Posted by: Bryan in LA on December 9, 2007 11:34 AM
37. Congrats on the new gig, Bryan. I love KFI. Lived in San Diego for five years and it was a mainstay, even though local station KOGO was pretty good, too. Enjoy the sun! I'll be listening via teh internets.

38. Bryan, looks like ya finally came in up here. Had to aim my Select-A-Tenna toward North Bend, but KFI is finally coming in somewhat clearly. Vick needs to have your border collies serve his punishment...

39. Futhermuck, Bry! Bigger market, money, better weather (syndi?), AND doin' da schtick in (and/or from) the heart of the beast (with near limitless foils, material...). I'll be dialed in and screamin' from the streamin' (for now). 6 month lease w/pets...hmm; sounds like prescription for Van Nuys (or somewhere in the valley). All the best.

40. Even better than having a Listen Live section (at least for those of us who completely missed his shows when they aired), they also have archives of his shows on their website HERE, available for download! Huzzah!!!

41. Perhaps through the magic of modern technology, they can have him do his show from remote location in Monroe.
Not only does KFI have Coast to Coast, I do believe that is the flagship station.
I like the witty banter backand forth between Bryan and george... So Bryan, is the wife going to become a Chip now?
I love the KFI podcast downloads, I just caught up on Thursday and Friday's show. Thursday sounded like an adjusting day and by friday, you really hit your stride and the witty humor that kept me tuning in came out.
I'll keep downloading those although I probably be on tape delay... oh well, just toss a shout out to your KVI, now Podcast listeners up here. I will get my ISLAAAAAAAAAAAM and learn more about turkey

43. Well, in fact, i'm flying back tomorrow, but i might do the KFI 7p-10p show from KJR in seattle. then make the move after christmas. (if all the i's get dotted)
Also, an early afternoon syndicated show is a realistic possibility. more later.

44. Well, I'm glad you ended up somwhere I can catch your show relatively easily, thanks to KFI for that.
I guess you'll have to pick a new blue Falcon...

45. Hey Bryan. Currently streaming your KFI gig (in Mill Creek, WA.) as part of the regrouping contingent and growing throng of area Suits' Show refugees. Good show (and not a bad Charley the-race-bating-demogogue-extraordinaire Rangel impression).

Posted by: D-PAUL on December 12, 2007 08:31 PM
46. Syndication! That would be great if it made it up here. Radio is starting to suck up here. K&CO do fairly well in the morning, and David Boze is a pleasant surpise.
It is amazing to me, the following Dr. L has. "I've got a new attitude" trac, Yuck, about 10 seconds of that is all I can do. Do people still care about the Sonics? That takes some meat out of KTTH's day, or maybe it is a cash cow. Probably wont matter in the future anyway.

Thank KFI for the streaming, and Apple for the ipod. Bryan, you are quality radio.

A side note, on the last week or two of your show, you had "Angy Max" on. What was the name of his "charitable organization"? It had benefited fallen and or injured contractors, I believe?

And what do we look for now, in the circle of trust, KFIbryan?

Posted by: Craig in Puyallup on December 12, 2007 09:45 PM
47. Fenchurch - Thanks for the link to the direct downloads.

KFI has definitely got there act together for their podcasts. Breaks it down by hour, puts a brief description of topic and file naming is very understandable.

I'm very happy to see Brian land on his feet in a big way. Its wierd to say but maybe KVI did him a favor by letting him go (not so good for us though).

Brian - keep on keepin on.
