I finally got my Schrammie! For the complete story, see the original song that Ken Schram hated (called "Osama Bin Laden, You Ruined My Birthday"), listen to the studio version of the song, and watch Schram give me my award. Then finally, watch my acceptance speech.
I wrote the song in this video, "New Year," many years ago, and break it out around this time every year. You can listen to the studio version. You may not understand all the lyrics if you learned math in Washington public schools.
Happy New Year ... or whatever.
Posted by pudge at January 01, 2008 05:46 AM | Email ThisSo, pudge, are you now going to be a regular contributor to this site?
"I blame global warming."
(perhaps Al Gore has been spending most of last month in NH, unbeknownedst to the rest of us?)
He could still be reporting on his ex seattle Election director Dean the Crook Logan first hand in LA.
Posted by: GS on January 1, 2008 02:21 PMFunny (to me) that John (Carlson) and Ken (Schram) have Bryan's old slot, and now Bryan follows the REAL John and Ken down in LA. I loved listening to John and Ken when I lived in LA mumble years ago.

So do I have the wrong Chris Nandor, or is this September 11 birthday stuff completely made up?
By the way -- does Ken Schram actually send out the Schrammie dolls anymore? I haven't gotten mine yet.
Posted by: Richard Pope on January 1, 2008 03:08 PMAnd yes, I actually got my Schrammie. I showed it in the video.
Posted by: pudge on January 1, 2008 03:32 PMYou might also want to share with your readers the remarkable success of the GOP Debate Song (Live), which is being featured on YouTube worldwide right now - #6 in News & Politics worldwide - and has three-quarters of a million views...
Posted by: Darcy Burner on January 1, 2008 03:54 PMEven Ken Schram congratulated me for that! :-)
Posted by: pudge on January 1, 2008 04:08 PMI guess I'm a little surprised at your skepticism. Do you think I don't read Sound Politics? Or that I wouldn't freely acknowledge your talent?
I'm notorious for following blogs; why would I read only the left-leaning ones? (Like Toby Nixon, I'm more broadly-read than just my side.)
And I was raised in a Republican household; you actually remind me of my youngest brother, who is both a great guy and a Republican.
But I'd be happy to prove it's me offline, if you'd like.
Posted by: Darcy Burner on January 1, 2008 04:18 PMBut I don't need proof, as it doesn't really matter to me: I'm in the 2nd CD anyway. :D
Also, I don't follow "blogs" in general. I don't regularly read any political web sites at all, except for Sound Politics. It's not that I don't read one side or another; I tend to just ignore the web sites, which mostly act as mere noise machines, on all sides. Sound Politics is, for me, an exception, because these are people I actually work side-by-side with in real life to accomplish real goals.
Posted by: pudge on January 1, 2008 04:37 PMThat said, after the thread hijack:
Puuuuu-uuudge! Puuuuu-uuuudge! Puuuuu-uuuudge!
Posted by: Hinton on January 1, 2008 04:42 PMLift that lighter high, Hinton!
Posted by: pudge on January 1, 2008 04:55 PMAnyway, I believe it was Darcy. And I bet she's a wonderful, friendly person. Just with toxic, nasty politics. But isn't that the one lesson every conservative has to learn in Seattle? There are genuinely good people all around us who just happen to be afflicted with this awful mental disorder. We need to forgive them and move on in the spirit of compassion and brotherhood. :D
Posted by: AD on January 1, 2008 05:03 PMBTW (pudge)- I can't stand Tim McCarver either.
Posted by: KS on January 1, 2008 05:06 PMAnd yeah, McCarver is just terrible. :-)
Posted by: pudge on January 1, 2008 06:37 PMThe most popular YouTube video containing "Darcy Burner", "Darcy Burner on the FISA Bill", only gets 20,968 views?
Okay, Pudge wrote a really cute debate song, but why do more than 30 times as many people want to see Pudge in person, as opposed to the really neat graphics and slide show that Pudge wrote to accompany his really cute debate song?
Posted by: Richard Pope on January 1, 2008 09:05 PMAs to why they chose that one to put on the front page of YouTube and show on TV, my guess is because they thought it was more personal, which is what they are trying to push in the debate stuff, the idea of normal citizens just making videos in their homes etc., which doesn't come through as readily in the "slide show" version.
Posted by: pudge on January 1, 2008 09:56 PM...after which she will raise your taxes. (boo)
Posted by: Michele on January 1, 2008 10:00 PMAnd if Darcy were to post, wouldn't that be exactly the type of thing she'd say? It seemed very deliberately disarming... Almost like, aww shucks, guys, you shouldn't hate lil ole ME.. :)
