Tonight I attempted to sing a song of unity and hope for both our presidential candidates, but I ran into a problem with Tweedley, from the Internet Citizens Committee. It seems no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't say anything inoffensive.
Hopefully the message gets through regardless.

Being a "celebrity" doesn't mean you are a leader or capable of doing a specific job.
Since you claim to have all the facts,
As a legislator, what has he actually done that supports his campaign rhetoric about what he is going to do?
Obama is a Senator. Since 2007, he has made a lot of promises of things he would do - if elected president. Why do the people looking for hope and change have to wait until 2009 for him to do anything about their issues? Since he was elected, what has he specifically done to:
Show bipartisanship, working across the aisle?
Pass laws to reduce the price of oil and gasoline?
Pass laws to reduce homelessness?
Pass laws to eliminate poverty?
Pass laws to reduce medical costs?
Pass laws to improve educational standards?
Pass laws to reduce the size of government?
Pass laws to reduce the tax burden on Americans?
Pass laws to secure our borders?
Pass laws to bring order to our immigration programs?
Has Obama authored any bills that have successfully been pushed through and signed into law?
He has spent a lot of time talking the walk. What has he done to walk the talk?
It's only "sickening" if you take it to mean something that it obviously wasn't intended to mean, which is, of course, my point ...
Posted by: pudge on August 2, 2008 08:15 AM@ 1 ~ you didn't like the ad because deep down inside, you know it rings true. The Jr. senator from Illinois is a sickening caricature of himself. What kind of person that claims to be a US representative would travel abroad (in this case Germany)and not visit wounded U.S. Military personnel if given the opportunity?
As a veteran, I'm outraged that this piece of filth chose to "work out" rather than visit those wounded Soldiers, Airmen, Marines, et al. It proves sociopath's like Obama rarely would jump at a chance to actually do something that somehow doesn't directly benefit themselves.
When all the Obamaphiles are standing around November 6th in a bewildered malaise, you can look to this instance as one of the many reason's intelligent Amercian voter's chose not to have this miscreant lead the nation.

I hear that grandpa, ma and pa Hilton all were deeply offended with the comparison... I would be too if my kid was compared to a pessimistic, whining Marxist empty suit with an overinflated ego.
Posted by: Ragnar Danneskjold on August 2, 2008 01:31 PMThe word Republicon makes anyone that loves America, personal freedom, and our constitution want to puke. Don't believe me. Better not take your laptop next time you fly....
Power mad, dishonest, anti accountability, warmongering, bloodthirsty, bunch of pathetic crooks. Today's GOP.
Offended? Watch the Bill Moyers special on the Jack Abramoff, Tom DeLay, Grover Norquist, Ralph Reed, K-Street crooks running our congress. Forced abortions, and slave labor in Saipan, a U.S. territory. All paid for by religious nut cases, Chinese, and Indian Tribes.
Maybe that is why so many people are abandoning the party, and becoming "independents" these days. They can't take it any more. Not enough Kool Aid to keep them blind any more.
Posted by: All Facts Support My Positions on August 2, 2008 03:12 PMOOPS! An another inconvenient FACT for you to ignore!
Can we help you refill that smiley face pitcher?
Posted by: Ragnar Danneskjold on August 2, 2008 04:12 PMBill Moyers is one of the most partisan, slanted and dishonest journalists there is. Even though I don't care for Abramoff, DeLay and am neutral about Norquist, why should I was my time watching that progressive puff piece of propaganda in an attempt to bolster the Democons ?
I want the full story, which would entail subjecting the corruption of Harry Reid, Howard Dean, Diane Feinstein, Rep. Jefferson (D-LA), Barbara Boxer, Cynthia McKinney and Maxine Waters and other Democons to that level of scrutiny - something that Moyers would never do.
Posted by: KS on August 2, 2008 04:25 PM
So tell me, what the "partisan" Bill Moyers ever reported that wasn't true. (Crickets Chirping)
The difference between me, and perhaps yourself, is I want all corrupt politicians locked up, regardless of their party. I want open government with proper oversight, and corruption prosecuted, every single time. No exceptions. Ever.
If it is a Republicon you don't want them prosecuted right KS? Libby should go free? DeLay? Abramoff? Bush? Cheney? Safavian? Noe? Ney? Stevens? Rummy? Rice?
Which is it. All Republicons are above the law right?
Only in Right Wing World.
The biggest problem I have with the GOP is the fact that most, or all of their party's leaders belongs behind bars.
Posted by: All Facts Support My Positions on August 2, 2008 06:20 PMMoyers has a long history of ignoring facts that don't suit his political agenda, so, in fact, you can't know when you are watching him whether you are actually getting all the relevant facts. So yes, it should be ignored.
Maybe it is true, maybe it isn't. The problem is, in watching him, you just can't know, so unless you are prepared to do a lot of research yourself after the fact, it is not worth bothering.
This is how journalism works: it is based on trust. And Moyers no longer has the trust of any objective viewers, which is why PBS won't even give him a show anymore (some PBS stations distribute his show, but PBS itself doesn't fund him). It's why Dan Rather is now on HDNet, and it is why Jayson Blair no longer has a job. When you violate the public trust, what you say no longer matters. You could be right, but unless you get backed up by someone else, no one will care, except for the people in your echo chamber.
And I don't believe you when you say you want all corrupt politicians locked up. I just don't. If you did, you wouldn't single out the Republican party for corruption, when, in fact, the Democrats -- especially in THIS state -- represent corruption AT LEAST as much as the Republicans do. I won't even bother rattling off the many corrupt Democrats, because you'll just say -- at best -- "well fine, they are terrible too," but you won't call their party corrupt as a result, because you are too intellectually dishonest to be that consistent.
And yes, DeLay, Bush, Cheney, Rummy, and Rice should all go free, as none of them has violated the law. Libby SHOULD have been set free, because the case against him was never proven, but he had his day in court and I was against a commutation to essentially overrule the sentence.
Just because you disagree with them doesn't mean they should be behind bars. The difference between me, and obviously you, is that I think the actual law should be upheld. You want your FEELINGS to have the force of law.

Oh Mighty "O" please save us
Posted by: gs on August 2, 2008 07:56 PMBy the way. I had a lot of fun at the last Governor's ball. I shall probably have even more fun at the next one. We will pick up another 20 to 30 seats in Congress, 7 or 8 Senate seats, and have a super majority here in Washington State. Lots to celebrate......
I am hoping for 60 seats in the Senate. We will finally be able to tell the crazies to sit down and shut up.
Sorry folks. November will be another wipe out. All for the reasons stated above. Clean up your party, or deal with it.
Posted by: All Facts Support My Positions on August 2, 2008 09:18 PMMcCain was completely exonerated of any wrongdoing in the Keating 5.
McCain was explicitly talking about the invasion, and it WAS easy. It was the most dominant invasion of a nation of significant size in the history of the world.
There WERE NEVER Bush tax cuts only for the rich.
So yes, if you want Obama to lie, he could do those ads.
Stop pretending to be against corruption and in favor of facts. You're only in favor of things that back up your opinions -- and your parry -- whether or not they are actually true.
Harry Reid (one of Abramoff's largest laundered money recipients, of which he did not return any to my knowledge), Howard Dean (the liar), Nancy Pelosi (the obstructionist out to save the planet), Cynthia McKinney and Maxine Waters (two reps. who are mentally unstable), Barbara Boxer and Diane Feinstein - should be investigated for embezzlement. You are a liar by omission, as you never acknowledged the flaws of your fellow Democons.
"Which is it. All Republicons are above the law right?
Only in Right Wing World.
The biggest problem I have with the GOP is the fact that most, or all of their party's leaders belongs behind bars."
You are just echoing your beliefs about the Democons, except for the last sentence - of which you cannot back up your opinions with fact.
Posted by: KS on August 2, 2008 11:01 PMWe have an elephant sitting on one side of the scales of justice, and the only dems being prosecuted, outside Jefferson, was ones for political reasons, and not for breaking laws. Jefferson appears to have taking bribes and should do time. I just wonder what Tom DeLay would have done if the FBI did a sting on him, and gave him a duffel bag full of $100 bills. Turn it down? Yeah right.....
Want to do some reading. Try Vincent Bugliosi's (Prosecuted Charles Manson) book. The title "The Prosecution of George Bush for Murder". $17.79 on Amazon. There's crimes, and then there's crimes.

I am sure Rush, and Hannity told you all them dems are corrupt too. They have to be right?
Posted by: All Facts Support My Positions on August 3, 2008 01:26 PMOr perhaps when the power hungry censor, eh SanFranGranNan
Hm, factless of seattle, perhaps you can name all the lying libs that stayed in power and rose in political stature after they have been exposed for their lying and corruption and then compare that to a list to Republicans who left or were demoted at the mere whisper of scandal... hint: you can begin with the name Clinton.
Posted by: Ragnar Danneskjold on August 3, 2008 03:00 PMYou once reveal your dishonesty. Let's just use just your own words.
Then, you wrote:
Clean up your party, or deal with it.
This was followed up with notes that the Democrats were corrupt, to which you responded:
With all those corrupt democrats, then why have they not been charged? Ohhhhh. They are guilty cuz you say they are guilty right? They have all been indicted right?
So it is wrong for KS to accuse people of corruption without existing indictments, but it is OK for you to do it ... ?
Of course, this is expected. It's a typical line from the Democratic party playbook. After all, Democrats MEAN WELL, and are ENLIGHTENED, and so they are not held to as high a standard. Rummy doesn't need an indictment to be accused, because he is evil. It's self-evident! But Harry Reid, well, he's a Good Guy, so you can't accuse him of anything without an indictment.
And no, DeLay would not have taken the money Jefferson took. Once again, you are lying. The only "evidence" you have that DeLay would have taken it is that he is an evil Republican, so of course he would have taken it.
What's sad is that you don't realize how completely illogical you are.
