NRCC expecting to play in the Reichert race

There has been real question in this election cycle whether the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) would be swamped by the efforts of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC). Fundraising results thus far have been brutally bad for the GOP ledger.

Now comes word that the NRCC is in for a $1 million of TV airtime in the contest between Dave Reichert and Darcy Burner. In theory, that matches the DCCC's previously announced commitment of a similarly sized ad buy.

Granted, both sides actually have to live up to those pledges. But it looks for now that the gap might not be as bad as first feared - at least in the 8th CD.

1. It'll be nice to have the NRCC bucks but not necessary. Burner is the same loser she was in '06, just two years older. No new experience to add to her resume. Still running against President Bush. This one isn't even a contest.

2. Agreed. I think Burner is a total incompetent, unqualified party hack. She's only interested in having a cushy job with privilege and prestige and no work. She would do nothing at all; she only wants the fame.

But what concerns me is that she appears to be the only one running. I see Darcy Burner posters everywhere. I got a 4-page glossy in the mail. She put out a good ad on TV recently, noting her brother's service in Iraq, claiming some sort of women's organization at Microsoft, saying she risked her life to have a child. This is all a bunch of rot. But I haven't seen a single poster for Reichert! When is Burner going to be counter-balanced here? I sure don't want Burner to win by sheer volume. What's going on?

3. Watch the DNCC bail on her. Her abysmal showing in the primary should seal that deal.

In fact, the leftist crickets have been chirping at an unbelievable rate since she was knocked on her ass by the Reichert campaign a few days ago.

But then, Obama and Burnout have so much in common....
