What Will the Down Ballot Effect of That Be?

From Marc Ambinder:

The huge crowds Gov. Sarah Palin attracts are one thing, but enthusiasm about the Alaska governor has produced an outpouring of volunteers for the GOP's get-out-the-vote program.

According to a Republican official, countywide, seven to ten times as many new volunteers are signing to help as compared to the same days a month ago.

[snip]

That's more people that GOP field planners assumed they'd have, so in some areas, they're scrambling to figure out what to do with them all.

That's a delightful problem to have.

We've been hearing all year this will be a Democratic election season, in part because the dispirited Republican base wouldn't be motivated to work on behalf of the Presidential ticket. With that twist potentially evaporated, and if the generic Congressional ballot keeps tightening, what does that mean for November?

2. Remember the bar scene in one of the "Naked Gun" movies where the camera pans past wall pictures in succession of the Titanic, Hindenberg and then Mike Dukakis?
The reds smell another failure coming and his name is B.H. Obama (that and they're soiling their trousers).

3. Pee-yoo! What's that stink? It's Obama's campaign!

4. Hopefully it means there is enough money and manpower to go around for some of the lower office seekers in the GOP. Wouldn't that melt the minds of the loonie left?

Just a quick aside, the big "Palin, Charles Gibson" interview is coming out in snippits. This report makes it sound like Gibson is the wise man questioning the upstart student. There is also this "analysis" going on which is critical of Palin's apparent "preparation" as if Charlie boy never "prepared" for an interview. I'd like to know where all this deep expert "snap analysis" of body language and speech patterns is regarding Obama and Biden. More press hypocrisy and double standards.
Are they actually criticizing her for preparation and confidence? Gee, if she didn't prepare she'd probably sound like those pillars of wisdom Matt Damon and Pamela Anderson.

5. What's does that mean for November? Probably massive Democratic apoplexy.

7. I watched the Service Forum grilling and I'm angry that the candidates were not given the same questions. I'm amgry at the 6 second delay that cut into MccCains answers by rude protestors and not bHo's. We don't even know if the candidates (bHo) were sequestered during the others (McCain) questioning. What an incredible waste of time... and yawn... although the 2 martinis's may have contributed to the yawns...

The Saddleback Forum was at least balanced in that they had the very same questions on the same playing field.

I will admit, that as much as I despise every single thing that marxist stands for, when he has a genuine smile he is quite engaging. Too bad for him that most of us are smart enough not to be sucked in by an engaging smile.... hells bells, if that's all it takes....

8. There will be even more Republican volunteers after they read this excellent new Obama expose.

http://www.eppc.org/publications/pubID.3521/pub_detail.asp

Here's some damning info on the "(communist) community organizer":

"Throughout his career, Obama has drawn on all of these strategies. In Illinois's Republican-controlled state senate, Obama specialized in incremental legislation, often drawn up in collaboration with groups like Gamaliel and ACORN. His tiny, targeted expansions of government-financed health care, for example, were designed to build political momentum for universal health care. And his claim to be a "common-sense pragmatist," rather than a leftist ideologue, comes straight out of the Gamaliel playbook.

New evidence now ties Obama still more closely to both organizations. Not only was Obama a trainer for Gamaliel and ACORN, he appears to have used his influence to secure a major increase in funding for both groups -- arguably stretching the bounds of propriety in the process."

Obama was/is a community seditionist. The only place for him and his ilk is jail. That's why he evades specifics about his "organizing." Expect Gamaliel and ACORN to attempt massive election fraud for their former trainer.

9. #8 contd. (More expose.)

"Even after becoming a U.S. senator, Obama has maintained his ties to the Gamaliel Foundation. According to an October 2007 report for the University of California by Todd Swanstrom and Brian Banks, "it is almost unheard of for a U.S. Senator to attend a public meeting of a community organization, but Senator Obama attended a Gamaliel affiliate public meeting in Chicago." Given this ongoing contact, given the radicalism of Gamaliel's core ideology, given Obama's close association with Gamaliel's co-founder, Gregory Galluzzo, given Obama's role as a Gamaliel consultant and trainer, and given Obama's outsized role in channeling allegedly "nonpartisan" funding to Gamaliel affiliates (and to his political ground troops at ACORN), some questions are in order. Obama needs to detail the nature of his ties to both Gamaliel and ACORN, and should discuss the extent of his knowledge of Gamaliel's guiding ideology. Ultimately, we need to know if Obama is the post-ideological pragmatist he sometimes claims to be, or in fact a stealth radical."

10. Palin Popularity Trickles Down For GOP

11. This could win it for Dino WITHOUT a friggin recount.

Especially if several busloads of McCain campaign workers go to the new King County facility in Renton to be election observers and also hang out side of the precincts and root out ACORN workers - clamoring for illegal votes and provisional ballots.

12. scott - how do you think Gibson's attitude will play with swing voters?

I think swing voters are just starting to pay attention. They aren't strongly party affiliated, so if the "like" Charles Gibson they may not vote for McCain. I just wish swing voters would study up on what MARXISM is before voting. NOW is the time to pay attention and, yes, take a stand.

13. What Will the Down Ballot Effect of That Be?

The Fall of Pelosi?

The positive impact of the GOP convention on polling indicators of Republican strength is further seen in the operation of Gallup's "likely voter" model in this survey. Republicans, who are now much more enthused about the 2008 election than they were prior to the convention, show heightened interest in voting, and thus outscore Democrats in apparent likelihood to vote in November. As a result, Republican candidates now lead Democratic candidates among likely voters by 5 percentage points, 50% to 45%.

Hah!

14. UPDATE on downballot effects: Check this out! Dems are "distancing themselves" from Obama. AND they're not picking on McCain or Palin. THAT is BIG! This means even they think the Obama ship is sinking and the rats are jumping off. While the GOP has a lot of work to do with 30 members retiring vs 6 for the Dems, this may mean the veto proof majority is up in smoke, and the GOP will possibly defend most of those seats!
