McCain-Palin are very close in our very liberal state according to the Rasmussen Reports.
Washington is the latest state to show a strong western surge for John McCain since he added Alaska Governor Sarah Palin to the Republican ticket.Cross posted at Economic Freedom. Posted by Ron Hebron at September 12, 2008 05:27 PM | Email ThisThe latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey in Washington finds Barack Obama still ahead, but barely. It's Obama 49%, McCain 47%. A month ago, Obama was up by twelve percentage points. Recent polls have shown McCain gains in Montana, New Mexico and North Dakota.
Among Democrats, Obama now attracts 83% of the vote, down six points from last month. However, the big change comes among unaffiliated voters who now favor McCain by a 48% to 43% margin. In August, before the two parties held their conventions, Obama led by twelve among voters not affiliated with either major political party (see demographic crosstabs).
... McCain is now viewed favorably by 60% of Washington voters, up eight points from 52% in the previous survey. Obama is viewed favorably by 58%, which is essentially unchanged.
As for the running mates, Biden is viewed favorably by 56%, Palin by 51%. However, feelings are much stronger about Palin--39% voice a Very Favorable opinion of her while 31% have a Very Unfavorable view. For Biden, the comparable numbers are 26% Very Favorable and 22% Very Unfavorable.
Among unaffiliated voters, McCain is viewed favorably by 66%, Obama by 55%, Palin by 53%, and Biden by 49%.
Slight problem... McCain's injuries from when he was tortured in Vietnam prevent him from being able to use a keyboard. Meaning he physically can't use a computer. If I were the McCain folks, I'd be having a field day with the fact Obama is making fun of McCain's disabilities.
It's stuff like this that's going to cause Obama to continue to lose favor with voters.
Posted by: Mike H on September 12, 2008 05:45 PMAdd to that Rush's expose' next week of Obama's extensive life-long Marxist community organizing and the Democrats are history.
Pray for the safety of Sarah, her family, and John McCain, then praise the Lord for His favor.
Posted by: The Pirate on September 12, 2008 05:49 PMI use a wheelchair and do not take offense when someone asks me to stand up.
The point is, if you can not communicate electronically, you are missing most of the communication in the world. (Like right now---??)
But Obama is for the Community Cares Act--which would allow disabled people to stay in their homes--and McCain is against it. Obama has a health care plan that will save money and still insure me--under McCain's tax the health care plans, I would not be able to get insurance and would die the next time I needed surgery.
The Democrats had two disability caucuses and LISTENED to the disabled community. The Republicans didn't even care to make their convention accessible.
If you really cared about disabled people and their issues, you would vote for Obama.
Posted by: deena larsen on September 12, 2008 06:14 PMIf you hate quality healthcare and the disabled, vote Obama.

Obviously Obama wasn't there to hear what was said. Nobody with a pair would ever put down a person unable to communicate..... Even those that need help doing so....
Obama did exactly that, with the ad that was aired. It was childlike and if you want my humble opinion..... People have lost the ability to communicate because of "Emails and Computers", they don't know how to really communicate.
So with all that said...... Obama should have used some common sense, not just gobbleigook.
Posted by: Chris N on September 12, 2008 06:40 PMTell that to Obama and his surrogates. They're are the ones focusing on Governor Palin's personal life and family...
Posted by: Bill H on September 12, 2008 07:19 PMSo essentially, the only reason Obama is "leading" in Washington is because of extreme Partisan hacks. Independents and moderates are going for McCain.
And who was going to unite the country and get rid of red and blue and make us purple?
Posted by: Shanghai Dan on September 12, 2008 07:26 PMSure Deena, lots of pretty promises they made you. But, given how quickly and easily Obama changes his mind, just how good are those promises?
I am disabled and I went to the Republican convention. It is a lie that it wasn't accessible. I am in a wheel chair and was able to make it in there. It is true John McCain doesn't support the Community Choice Act, but he supports the concept.
So to put forth that because he does not support a single piece of flawed legislation (e.g. how to pay for the promise of Obama), doesn't mean he hates disabled people.
McCain simply wants to provide the services without bankrupting the next generation. Why does Obama want to bankrupt the next generation?
Posted by: Nick Valencia on September 12, 2008 07:54 PMWestello, when you saw Mexico, how many times were you in the loop when Russian Tupelov strategic bombers were heading towards US airspace to test our defenses? How many Russian strategic bombers headed toward your house from Mexico?
When they scramble F16's from Elmondorf AFB AK to meet the Russian bear, you can bet the governor of Alaska is in the loop.
How many Russian bombers test probe US defenses by flying over Chicago?
Furthermore as a governor that borders two foreign countries, she is involved with trade and commerce and enforcement of international maritime regulations.
Let's see about the changeyness--which DOES describe that idiots mo. Change his mind on campaign financing, check. Single payer/socialized medicine, check. Jerusalem as capital of Israel, check. Meet with Imadinnerjacket of Iran without preconditions, check. Of course the famous defeat in Iraq timetable, check.
What a moron you 'tards nominated. But I guess like nominates like..
Posted by: iconoclast on September 12, 2008 08:05 PMJeez, you would think you guys could keep even simple facts clear. I guess not. Which does explain why Matt Damon was taken in by an obvious parody website about Sarah Palin. I will bet that some of you fools still believe Palin's newest child was her daughter's (as impossible as that was) or that she tried to ban books in her town library.
idiots.

Posted by: The Pirate on September 12, 2008 08:48 PM"In certain ways, McCain was a natural Web candidate. Chairman of the Senate Telecommunications Subcommittee and regarded as the U.S. Senate's savviest technologist, McCain is an inveterate devotee of email. His nightly ritual is to read his email together with his wife, Cindy. The injuries he incurred as a Vietnam POW make it painful for McCain to type. Instead, he dictates responses that his wife types on a laptop. "She's a whiz on the keyboard, and I'm so laborious," McCain admits. "

Posted by: Jeff B. on September 12, 2008 09:28 PMFrom NYT interview, July 13, 2008:
Q: What websites if any do you look at regularly?Mr. McCain: Brooke and Mark show me Drudge, obviously, everybody watches, for better or for worse, Drudge. Sometimes I look at Politico. Sometimes RealPolitics, sometimes.
(Mrs. McCain and Ms. Buchanan both interject: "Meagan's blog!")
Mr. McCain: Excuse me, Meagan's blog. And we also look at the blogs from Michael and from you that may not be in the newspaper, that are just part of your blog.
Q: But do you go on line for yourself?
Mr. McCain: They go on for me. I am learning to get online myself, and I will have that down fairly soon, getting on myself. I don't expect to be a great communicator, I don't expect to set up my own blog, but I am becoming computer literate to the point where I can get the information that I need - including going to my daughter's blog first, before anything else.
Q: Do you use a blackberry or email?
Mr. McCain: No
Mark Salter: He uses a BlackBerry, just ours.
Mr. McCain: I use the Blackberry, but I don't e-mail, I've never felt the particular need to e-mail. I read e-mails all the time, but the communications that I have with my friends and staff are oral and done with my cell phone. I have the luxury of being in contact with them literally all the time. We now have a phone on the plane that is usable on the plane, so I just never really felt a need to do it. But I do - could I just say, really - I understand the impact of blogs on American politics today and political campaigns. I understand that. And I understand that something appears on one blog, can ricochet all around and get into the evening news, the front page of The New York Times. So, I do pay attention to the blogs. And I am not in any way unappreciative of the impact that they have on entire campaigns and world opinion.
Q: You read newspapers then.
Mr. McCain: I read them most all every day.
Q: You and Obama are both newspaper and book readers. Do you read them in the old paper version or do you read them online?
Mr. McCain: I love to read them in the print form, and the reason why I do is because so much, the prominence of the story matters. If I read a story and say, Oh my God, did you see this? But it's back on A26, it doesn't have the impact of what are still - even though it's declining - what are still, what are hundreds of millions of American picking up an looking at today. And that's why I really think that reading it is, it helps me more than, now, because I don't read all the newspapers - I don't see, for example, the L.A. Times every day, or the San Francisco Chronicle, or the Arizona Republic when I'm away. So we go then, of course, online, and look at them.'
Well, I guess it depends on what you mean by "extraordinary." The reason he doesn't send email is that he can't use a keyboard because of the relentless beatings he received from the Viet Cong in service to our country. From the Boston Globe (March 4, 2000):McCain gets emotional at the mention of military families needing food stamps or veterans lacking health care. The outrage comes from inside: McCain's severe war injuries prevent him from combing his hair, typing on a keyboard, or tying his shoes. Friends marvel at McCain's encyclopedic knowledge of sports. He's an avid fan - Ted Williams is his hero - but he can't raise his arm above his shoulder to throw a baseball.
...In a similar vein I guess it's an outrage that the blind governor of New York David Patterson doesn't know how to drive a car. After all, transportation issues are pretty important. How dare he serve as governor while being ignorant of what it's like to navigate New York's highways.
...Some say, So what if he was handicapped? He could still learn how to send email.
Sure, but why would he? Bill Clinton sent two emails during his entire presidency and often admitted he didn't know squat about the internet.
Oh one last point for now: Lord knows I think the chicken-hawk arguments are stupid. And I don't think the fact that Obama never served in the military should count against him in and of itself. But how stupid is it for the Obama campaign to claim that McCain is unqualified to be president because he can't grasp cyber-security issues based on the fact he has never sent an email when the McCain campaign can just as easily say Obama can't understand first order national security issues because he's never fired a rife, flown a plane, commanded men in battle, or faced an enemy? I mean which prepares someone to be commander in chief better, hitting "send" on AOL or fighting a war?

Illinois Democratic governor and Barack Obama supporter Rod Blagojevich is taking his own party to task for belittling Sarah Palin's experience. Blagojevich said on a Chicago radio station Thursday, "Governors every day have to make decisions for better or for worse. That's part of the job. It's an executive position... I think it's a tactical mistake for the Democrats to question Governor Palin's experience when she's been governor of a state."
Blagojevich added that criticizing the size of Governor Palin's electorate is also a mistake. "I don't think the size of the state is relevant. It's the kinds of decisions you have to make as governor," he said.
Odd, isn't it, that democrat Gov. Blagojevich seems to have no trouble getting it, but the fringe-left hacks infesting seem unable to grasp what the Governor has figured out... with ease.
Who to believe... who to believe... a serving democrat Obama-supporting governor? Or a whiny, sniveling leftist, watching it ALL go away?
Oh yeah, Obama. But when McCain picked an inexperienced person (a rap against Obama again and again) suddenly it's all about change. Please. Your guy looks more and more desperate - note the snappish mood he was in when the crowds at his rallies vanished without Caribou Barbie. Sure, I'm real worried
Only you hard-core extremist Slavers on the right believe Obama is more experienced and qualified than Sarah Palin; see this poll showing that just over half believe Obama qualified, but nearly 2/3rds believe Palin qualified.
Oh, and also note that 80% believe McCain is fully qualified. Meaning that the first AND second positions in the GOP ticket are held in higher regard than EITHER choice on the Slavery Party ticket.
I thought you Slavers and your Obamassiah were preaching hope and change and unity? It appears the nation is uniting - against your speech of hatred, intolerance, economic Slavery, and anti-Americanism.
Posted by: Shanghai Dan on September 12, 2008 10:47 PMI saw that quote from Blagovitch, but I was saving it for when westy decided to be dumb enough to get into the "who is more qualified, Obama or Palin" debate.
Looks like even westy can learn, though the rest of the 'tards certainly cannot.
Posted by: iconoclast on September 12, 2008 11:10 PMAlso, iconoclast, never heard of Irish twins?
Posted by: westello on September 13, 2008 09:12 AMMore people think Palin is qualified than Obama. I guess being an affirmative action placement in Harvard (and what about his undergrad at Columbia - no transcript available!) carries less weight with the American public than a woman working her way through schools...
And this is the Republican VICE PRESIDENTAL CANDIDATE rated higher than the Slavery Party Presidential candidate! Add in John McCain and he's rated higher than both COMBINED.
(Biden? Not even polled - no one knows anything about him other than 35 years of being fed by lobbyists, raising lobbyists, and trying to make the lame walk)
Face it - Obama comes out on the short end of the stick every time you talk about qualifications or experience. He's only carrying the water of you Slavery Party thugs. All the polls have McCain winning a convincing majority of independents and a sizable number of Democrats.
McCain/Palin is the TRUE unity ticket; Obama's Marxist, Fascist, redistribution of wealth platform appeals to fewer and fewer, every day.
