Comment on any candidate who is on the ballot anywhere in Washington state, pro or con — within, of course, the limits of good taste. As usual, links to more information would be helpful.
(I won't be putting up an open post on ballot measures, since several of the posts below already cover ballot measures.)
Update: I've closed this post because the discussion has gone way outside the bounds of good taste.

When Dino Rossi wins by 3-5%, it'll be a solid night for democracy.
Oh and I have to give a shout-out to Marummy, our first Secretary of Defense who booted Dean Logan out of this state and worked so hard to clean up King County sElections. This is our re-vote, let's win it for her!!!

The only alternative is for John McCain to win and the riots that will ensue. The riots, of course, will probably happen anyway, since many inner city "folks" will need new TVs in February.
Either way, I'll need to keep a very tight grip on my guns and religion...

Why do we need another military? Obama hates the military so his idea of "national security objectives" would never include the military he hates, but it would include a "security force" to fight the military that stands between him and total dictatorial power. Obama's proposed Civilian National Security Force (CNSF) would be a clone of the communist Soviet Red Army that was used in the Russian civil war to destroy the existing non-communist Russian White Army, and over eight million civilians. The Red Army was led by the communist psychopath Trotsky, who opened the doors for the communists' dictatorships and their extermination camps for hundreds of millions around the world. Do you really want to ignore history, and have to repeat it? The game's the same, only the players' names have changed.
http://www.spartacus.schoolnet.co.uk/RUScivilwar.htm
Imagine someone like the communist terrorist Ayers, or members of the communist Wade Rathke's ACORN or SEIU, or Barney Frank, or Rahm Emanuel, or Keith Olbermann, or Raila Odinga, or Dino's nemesis Knoll Lowney, in charge of a nearby CNSF regiment. How long would you be safe?
The CNSF would likely be used to fight our existing military, after Obama had ordered them to disarm and disband -- which they would never do. Or Obama would try to unilaterally disarm us of nukes, as he has promised, and use Russian, Chinese, Cuban, Venezuelan, or Kenyan troops as his Red Army "peacekeepers."

Vote for the Republican slate of candidates and we might buy ourselves some time to fight the enemies who have already breached our gates.

Posted by: Michael on November 1, 2008 05:22 PMI've learned a lot from Stefan and am strongly considering his recommendations. While I no longer listen to KVI too often, I also respect his political recommedations. Where they disagreed (I 1000 and 1029, well, I had my own opinions. (Hell NO! on BOTH)
Stefan has not made a recommendation for KC Charter Ammendment 3 or 5 and Kirby says YES on both... any thoughts??
I disagree with Kirby on Judge Position 1 and heartily recommend and endorse SUZANNE PARISIEN , with her strong civil background at the AG's office (and besides my son worked for her when he was there) and her didication to the TRUTH.
Also, as a show of NO FAITH in the proffered candidates, I wrote in STEFAN SHARKANSKY for Secretary of State. I am so angry with Reed for the electoral mess we can surely lay at his feet, but I am absolutely convinced a liberal democrat with whom I am utterly unfamiliar will be no better and probably even worse.
I'm in the same quandry about Superintendent for Public Instruction but have no better idea of whom to write in.
I wonder, is there a procedure to recall whomever it is that is elected to thosse two offices?
Posted by: Ragnar Danneskjold on November 1, 2008 05:41 PMGeoff Simpson is a complete and utter joke of a man, who resorts to coming on to Sound Politics, pretending to be a Republican voter who is against Simpson's Republican opponent.
Darcy Burner, at the very least, needs a serious political consultant if she is ever going to get anywhere. If Obama had been caught in her lie about her non-existence "degree in [economics]," he would have half-admitted to it to move past it.
Rossi is going to win. The polls are wrong.
Does anyone else find it interesting that among Washington State schoolkids, Obama won with 61%, but Rossi won with 51%?
You're a foul traitor. You're a pathetic excuse for an American if you're threatening to take your ball and go home (or to shoot and kill people) if your candidate doesn't win.
Leave politics to adults.
Posted by: demo kid on November 1, 2008 06:17 PMThis guy is just a more well-spoken Hugo Chavez. Hopefully pride goeth before a fall but once he takes all the conservative news programs off the air through the fairness doctrine he will probably get a completely pro Obama media and have a 70% approval rating like Putin has in Russia now that he controls all the sources of news.
Posted by: KW64 on November 1, 2008 07:41 PMDumbo... in a long series of pathetic and bizarre, not to mention hypocritical, statements you've cursed us with, that has to rate at the top.
Your blindingly obvious BDS... your fringe-left whackiness... and your selective condemnation (Is their some particular reason you don't direct your vituperation at your fellow moron, factless, who believes Republicans should all be imprisoned? Oh, of course there isn't... since he supports your side where no allegation, no character weakness, no lie is EVER condemned.) just proves you to be a total, mindless, blithering idiot.
For YOU to condemn SOMEONE ELSE is the height of hypocrisy.
Posted by: Hinton on November 1, 2008 08:14 PMIt is a foul traitor who would participate in helping the government "take our Gods,Guns, and 1st Amendment away."
I am not saying Obama would do all that.
He would take our guns away though, if he thought he could get away with it. And yes, that makes Obama a traitor to the Constitution in my book.
Got one iota of proof behind that whiny pathetic fear mongering statement? The Whack-Job Palin doesn't even know what the the First Amendment stands for.
Obama is going to win and win big. He'll govern center-left. You'll get your tax cut. It will be alright. All this bedwetting by the right wing is going to look really silly in a few months.
Posted by: Robert on November 1, 2008 09:19 PMI'm not voting for Obama - Has nothing to do with the color of his skin or mine. It's the issues primarily his disregard for the rights of the weakest segment of our population.

Oh, and what ever happened to that tax cut Clinton promised me?
Oh yah, I forgot, he changed his mind the second he got into office.

Posted by: Uncle Steve on November 1, 2008 09:58 PMThat's a fact! Line at one local store was 20 deep. And the owner at another said they can not keep the shelves stocked with clips... they are flying out the door.
A law enforcement pal said same in Wisconsin and I saw a news report from Tampa that reported the same thing!
A quick net search shows its happening all over the country: it's all that confidence in the Obambi that would be king [/sarcasm].

• Reality. Obama voted to allow the prosecution of people who use a firearm for self-defense in their frickin' homes. (Illinois Senate, S.B. 2165, vote 20. 3/25/04)• Reality. Obama supported increasing taxes on firearms and ammunition by 500%. That means the $500 Ruger you want to buy that currently has an excise tax of $55 would skyrocket to $330 tax. (Chicago Defender, 12/13/99). But that shouldn't bug you, Obama backers, because you're all about "spreading the wealth," aren't you?
• Reality. Obama voted to allow reckless lawsuits designed to bankrupt the firearms industry. (United States Senate, S. 397, vote 219, 7/29/05).
• Reality. Obama wants to reimpose the failed and discredited Clinton Gun Ban. (Illinois State Debate #3: Barack Obama vs. Alan Keyes, 10/21/04).
• Reality. Obama endorsed a ban on all handguns. (Independent voters of Illinois/Independent precinct organization general candidate questionnaire, 9/9/96; Politico, 3/31/08).
• Reality. Obama opposes the Right to Carry laws. (Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, 4/02/08; Chicago Tribune, 9/15/04).
• Reality. Obama voted to ban almost all rifle ammunition commonly used for hunting and sport shooting. (United States Senate, S.397, 7/29/05).
• Reality. Obama supports gun owner licensing and gun registration. ("Fact Check: No News In Obama's Consistent Record." Obama campaign website, 12/11/07).
• Reality. Obama voted to limit gun purchases to one per month. (Illinois state senate, H.B. 2579, vote 34, 5/16/03).
• Reality. Obama opposes four of the five Supreme Court justices who affirmed an individual right to keep and bear arms. He voted against the confirmation of Alito and Roberts and has stated he would not have appointed Thomas or Scalia. (United States Senate vote 245, 9/29/2005 and vote 2, 1/31/2006 and Saddleback Forum, 8/16/2008).
• Reality. Obama voted for an Illinois State Senate bill to ban and confiscate "assault weapons," but the bill was so poorly crafted, it would have also banned most semi-auto and single and double barrel shotguns commonly used by sportsmen. (Illinois Senate Judiciary Committee, 3/13/2003).
• Reality. Obama has endorsed a complete ban on handgun ownership. (Independent Voters of Illinois/Independent Precinct Organization general candidate questionnaire, 9/9/1996. The responses on this survey were described in "Obama had greater role on liberal survey," Politico, 3/31/2008).
Dan Cooper, President of Cooper Firearms, Fired For Backing Obama
Montana gunsmith Dan Cooper has been ousted as chief executive of the rifle company that bears his name after pressure from gun owners who are angry that he is supporting Democrat Barack Obama. ...Posted by: Ragnar Danneskjold on November 2, 2008 12:36 AMThe company posted a statement Wednesday night on its website that said:
"The employees, shareholders and board of directors of Cooper Firearms of Montana do not share the personal political views of Dan Cooper. Although we all believe everyone has a right to vote and donate as they see fit, it has become apparent that the fallout may affect more than just Mr. Cooper. It may also affect the employees and the shareholders of Cooper Firearms. The board of directors has asked Mr. Cooper to resign as President."
This is sad and unfortunate, but I think the employees, stockholders, and the board of Cooper Firearms were right. Gun ownership and the right to hunt are seriously threatened by the democrat party and its radical supporters. Sportsmen and shooters are a minority attacked and under siege. If we do not stand together to defend our rights, if we do not vigorously oppose leftwing candidates like Barack Obama, we will find ourselves in the position of citizens of Great Britain very shortly.
Alas, it looks like Barry has already started the indoctrina...er...I mean...training

If by "something", do you mean the mad ravings of far-right-wing websites?
Sheesh. You folks are grasping at straws. This is just as bad as folks on the left claiming that McCain was a collaborator with the Vietnamese.
Anyway, aside from that, I can barely comment about this tripe any more. The commenters on this site has moved from rabid partisanship to dangerous paranoid schizophrenia as their cherished Republican party is going down in flames.
I mean, c'mon... talk of "security forces" and citizenship? It is just not real political discussion, and very hard for any rational person, left or right, to take seriously. It is more a slide into insanity for folks that seem more obsessed with far-right-wing shibboleths and talking about shooting and killing folks that they disagree with than actually contributing to America.
Posted by: demo kid on November 2, 2008 01:46 AMdemo kid @8 - YOU are the foul traitor, craig @4 is just an average guy and YOU LIE when you call him a traitor. demo kid, by your own admissions, you are an INSURGENT, who should be identified and located. Thanks for showing us one of the faces of our enemy.
Posted by: 5.62 on November 2, 2008 06:33 AMWho exactly, then, is the whiner who is preaching armed insurrection because their candidate isn't winning? That makes both him and you traitors. Justify it all you want, but extremists that seems positively gleeful about killing folks that don't agree with them are not believers in democracy or in the important tenets of this country. THAT makes you a foul traitor of the worst kind, and unworthy of the freedom and liberty of this country.
Unlike you, I don't believe in killing my political opponents. So why don't you go off to some Third World dictatorship and leave the rest of us in peace? I'm sure that you would fit in really well there.
