Jim Camden reports she's looking to run for Vice Chairwoman of the House Republican Conference. That's exactly the kind of fresh blood in House GOP leadership I'd like to see.

where will Cantwell and the rest be?....will they protect us, or go along with BO?

Posted by: gs on November 10, 2008 08:30 PMWRT our right to keep and bear arms:
Some may be surprised to hear that IMO an IMMEDIATE serious threat to our 2nd amendment rights is probably (but don't bet the ranch) not in the cards. At the national level enough (D)s will remember what happened after they supported Clinton's ''assault weapons'' legislation in 92-93 (especially Cantwell, who lost the next election in substantial part because she voted FOR that legislation); that they will caution the new Obama administration not to make anti-gun legislation an early priority. Plus there are several (D) Senators in red states (Tester in MT and Conrad & Dorgan in my old home state of ND as good examples) who are well aware that it would be political suicide in their states to support overtly anti-gun legislation.
The biggest danger is longer or at least moderate-term: If the immediate crises in the economy moderates a bit and Wall Street recovers some, then the (D)s will start walking down the list of items on the ''progressive'' agenda. If nothing else: How many supreme count justices will Obama get to appoint ??.. However many that is, you can bet that they will (sadly) be at the opposite end of the political spectrum from Roberts and Alito.
Posted by: Methow Ken on November 10, 2008 09:54 PMDoes McMorris have the guts to stand by her ideas, and not compromise for the sake of sounding bipartisan? The republicans are in the distinct minority. They can either join the other side, and then become totally marginalized. Or they can clearly state their views loud and often.
When the republicans decided to storm the floor of the House and debate the energy bill after Pelosi closed the session, the media was forced to report. It probably changed the tide that was leading us toward a radical energy policy.
Does McMorris have it in her?

Posted by: InfoMan on November 11, 2008 11:14 AMI'm sorry. Your party, and it's leaders just found out they can no longer run on calling people "liberal", fear, hate, and religious persecution. Pretending to have "values" when the only value you really have is greed.
When your party learns to offer something to "reasonable" people besides lies, fraud, corruption, religious zealotry, TREASON (see Scooter Libby, and Karl Rove) and just down right bad government that cares about only large corporations, the extremely wealthy, and the military, and medical industrial complexes, they may make a comeback.
I won't hold my breath.
You people don't even understand what it is you have wrong, that most of America TOTALLY REJECTED on November 4th. It's not just about Bush. It is about every single fraudulent thing your party has pushed in the last 8 years. Their lock step support of Bush while he was trashing our economy, and raiding our treasury for his rich friends, destroying our credibility, and our kids future.
Remember the surplus he inherited?
I will do all I can to help you understand the errors of your right (wrong) wing ways. It is my duty as an American to help you "cons" become better Americans.
Thank God All Facts Support My Positions.
At least McMorris is not as idiotic, hate filled, and retarded as the average Republiconvict in the House. Good luck Methow Valley, Spokane, and the Okanogan. As long as she believe in helping the rich, and urinating on the rest, and shoving religion down other people's throats, the GOP will be on a bridge to no where FOREVER. Let her lead.
