Pace of Blogging

The loyal reader has already figured out this contributor has been scaling back his blogging now that we're past the immediate post-election phase. I can't speak for other contributors, but that will continue for me as I focus on job hunting and quality time with my family...think 7-10 posts per week rather than 25+, or whatever pace I was at in the peak of the election cycle.

What the long-term future holds I'm not yet sure. Blogging has been a great experience for me (it's amazing the scope of people I otherwise know - of all political stripes - who keep up with Sound Politics). Yet, I don't earn a dime for it.

So, part of what I'm chewing on are ways in which in monetize my ability with the written word, including blogging. Updates to follow on that.

1. Space indeed is only as deep as one makes it. Glad to see you making it better. As ever be well, Stephen Craig Rowe

2. thanks for the efforts; enjoyed your discourses;

many thankless jobs in society--this, family caregivers, adoptive parents, hospice workers in the quiet hours of the night, etc etc;

the REAL greater good, not just some socialist preachings & giveaways of someone's justly earned wealth;

people like you always, i find, land on their feet; been there too; seen it too 1st hand and not easy;

rest, regroup, & be ready for the next seige; the story of mankind; so---you'll do well...many out here pulling--at least in spirit--for you...

3. Eric, contributions much appreciated. Age Quod Agis.

4. '...as I focus on job hunting...'

Eric, what kind of position are you seeking?

5. Eric:
If you want let me privately (or even better everyone) know what type of job you are looking for I can keep my eyes open for you. Ufortnately my company has been cutting back so there have not been many postings as of late.

As for making writing a career. I have to say one more time... Your best asset is your word. If you say you are for one thing but do not vote accordingly, you will lose credibility with your audience. Keep that in mind in future elections and in general. People like to see politicians and the media stay consistant.

6. Eric's e-mail address is just a scroll away. He would appreciate a quick click.

My comment to Rags at the end of the Governing Post was mostly a call to Stefan to invite a couple of well-thought commenters to give a post a day. That is all it would take.

I have been reading on sidebar and have found the Senator and Jack LeCerveau quite insightful. Perhaps a reaching out would be good.

Eric, thanks for your posting. I don't know where you got the energy nor the time to do it. Sounds like you have a little burnout. Rest up. For me, a post a day is quite sufficient if Stefan can get three to do it. Yours would be one of the three.

7. Eric, I thought for sure after your numerous posts on the machinists strike you would have picked up the engineers new contract. One provision calls for a 5% pay increase- per year for the duration of the contract.

Eric, that is not sustainable. If Boeing went along with it, it would be for the purposes of cutting losses and preparing to move out of Dodge.

8. Indeed, like swats I don't know where you found the time. In my 'child-rearing' days I hardly had time to breath...course back then we didn't have blogs (on the typewriter)...ha
Your time is precious...use it well; remember when you get ready to check out, I doubt you'll say I wish I would have spent more time on the blog, or on the golf course, or at the office...'with the family and/or loved ones' is what it's ALL about. Good Luck to you sir..you are an obvious talent. :)

9. "So, part of what I'm chewing on are ways in which in monetize my ability with the written word, including blogging."

You might want to start by writing in complete sentences.

10. I've always found that people who get hung up on minor grammatical errors happen to be the worst writers.

Just saying...

Hey Eric, let's find a way to cull off all the dead-wood conservative columnists who haven't written anything useful since Bush Sr. was in office and move Pudge, Jim, you and I in their stead!

11. Don:

I think that would be ME not I in that last sentence.

Just saying... :)

And yes I realize I am saying I happen to be one of the worst writers!!! I admit it...

12. I'd definitely check out the opportunities with Sound Transit, Eric. Your dad was a big shot there, and ST will be producing scores of thousands of new jobs in the region over the next couple of years. The benefits are great and you've got to admit that union wages aren't a bad thing at all. It pushes lots of paper so your writing skills will be a great fit. Keep us updated!

14. "I've always found that people who get hung up on minor grammatical errors happen to be the worst writers."

I've always found that people who try to excuse their lack of attention to grammar typically write at the grade school level.

15. "Just Saying" apparently never got the memo that blogging is very often written as one would speak, not as one would write an essay. Thus, the conversational tone that most readers prefer. But, whatever justifies the nitpicking, chip on the shoulder mentality...

16. Don't mind "Just Saying" too much Eric. That's Sparky from Blurter-wanks. The only two monkey tricks Sparky can come up with are 'Grammer Gotcha' and Daily Kos smears. You should have seen Sparky go hog wild on Twig Palin.
Recently poor Sparky has been losing a debate to a 17 year old that refuses to take Daily Kos Updates on face value. We have hope for the future!

There is not a prize for catching it? :)
