Then tell us why.
Here's my offer: If you are a supporter of Obama's plan, write up an op-ed, email it to me, and I'll post it here at Sound Politics. Essentially, I am offering supporters of Obama's plan a free ad at the most important political blog in this area.
Rules: Your submission should be no more than about 1000 words. You should explain what the cost of the plan would be, and how we would benefit. You should give us at least a brief discussion of the plan's practicality. For example, it is not enough to say that Obama will sprinkle magic unicorn dust over the country, and cure all the sick. (Unless, of course, you have scientific evidence showing us that the administration has unicorn dust.) You have until noon, August 25th to send me your submission.
If I receive more than one submission, I will either post the one I think made the best argument for Obama's plan, or post more than one, if I think other submissions make complementary points.
Local congressmen are eligible. In fact, I would be delighted if my own congressman, Jay Inslee, took this opportunity to tell us why he supports Obama on this issue.
(Oh, and one more thing: I will monitor comments on any posted submission, to keep the discussion family friendly and reasonably civil.)
Update: Some had trouble finding my email address on Sound Politics. The address is quite visible at this site, which you should be reading at least once a day.
And here's a hint for contributors: Don't write something like this column, which simply asserts the advantages of Obama's health insurance plan, without ever explaining how the provisions in the various bills will produce those advantages. If you think, for example, that adding millions to government insurance plans will reduce the total spent, explain how that will happen. Don't assume that magic unicorn dust will solve the problem.
(That column was so bad that I briefly suspected that it was written by an aide trying to discredit Pelosi and Hoyer.)
