Candidate for Port Commission Stumps at ACORN

This video of Rob Holland was taken before the whole undercover reporting on ACORN brouhaha took place but given that ACORN was far from clean even before that incident it does speak volumes that Holland spoke to them, especially when one listens to some of the content of his speech.

UPDATE: Alexander King, apparently the man behind the video (and a big fan of ACORN according to his facebook page), seems to be a bit embarrassed by the footage of Holland and the video is no longer available on YouTube citing copyright issues. I wonder why King is so embarrassed of his candidate? I sent him a facebook message but it's gone unanswered. But don't you fret, Alex. I found the video somewhere else and made a copy.

And his opponent, David Doud, would bring a lot to the Port with his pro-business stance and his experience in real estate. Plus, as he points out, if elected he'd be the only member of the Commission who resides outside of Seattle.

1. Are any candidates in favor of selling off the ports assets to the highest bidder and allowing the free market to work?

2. Actually, it means very little. It just looks like you folks don't have anything, and so your borrowing the tired and lame teabagger rhetoric to smear someone. But since morals are lost on you people I won't spend too much time objecting.

4. Really? David Doud has said he doesn't want to rock the boat at the Port of Seattle. That means he wants to protect insider deals, waste and fraud. Seattle Times link: http://tiny.cc/QBWgz

Doud only shows up to forums with port-friendly audiences, while Rob Holland is talking to everyone from the Alki Foundation to, yes, a bunch of rag-tag ACORN members.

6. Admin is deleting negative comments. Typical rw censorship. Really: this ACORN stuff is all you got? That's tired.

7. tpn, I am not deleting comments, negative or otherwise. If I was don't you think I'd delete yours? Liberal trolls are making wild accusations of censorship. Typical lw lying. Really: this flagrant disregard for the truth is all you got? That's tired.

8. @7: C'mon, you can do better then that. You people have been pushing this Mccarthyite ACORN stuff for well over a year. Don't you have anything new to offer us?

9. Congress has cut off ACORN. The Census Bureau has cut off ACORN. The IRS has cut off ACORN.

ACORN will always have tpn.

10. "Tired old Teabagger stuff."

I don't think anyone ever heard of a teaparty until about 9 months ago. How "old" can any of the teaparty talking points be?

What's tired and old is the left being so condescending, rude and just plain dishonest.

Anyone that's been on this board for more than a week knows that lefty views are rebuked, corrected with real facts, challenged and laughed at, but never censured.

Now what are you going to do next? Call us racists and use the funding of police departments and firemen to try to justify your massive government takeovers.

11. ACORN came on my radar about two years ago. They are basically trying to shut down the port of Seattle.

Their whole stick is that ships and trucks are destroying the environment and only by allowing only union drivers to work the ports can they save us all. They are also behind the push to force all truck drivers to buy new trucks.

These people are just bottom feeders. They are sucking the life blood from this country.

12. ACORN has nothing to do with this race. Holland has a professional lifetime of experience in freight mobility and logistics. Doud has what, experience in real estate?

Holland is EXACTLY what the Port Commission needs -- a subject matter expert on the Port's REAL business -- moving goods quickly and efficiently.

If you're looking for competence in office, Holland has the detailed knowledge of operations that it takes to challenge or question the Port Director and his staff and provide true checks and balances to the system. He's clearly the better candidate in this race.

15. When workers band together to demand certain benefits, working conditions or a particular rate of pay it's called bargaining or a union.

When companies within a particular industry or area band together to demand a particular rate of pay for their product it's called collusion, price fixing or antitrust.

Just how are the two different?
