The Seattle Weekly Slams Rosenberger

Good for them. Lloyd Hara is considered the front runner in the race for good reason.

1. I'll say something else about Hara: When the spit hit the fan about the Port of Seattle and all its problems, I left a message of complaint to each of the commissioners. Lloyd Hara was the ONLY one of them who called me back to discuss it. He obviously doesn't have the contempt for the citizenry that the others seemed to.

I'm voting for Hara.

2. Lloyd Hara has put together an impressive and diverse coalition of supporters, including Democrats, Republicans and less partisan folks.

Bob Rosenbeger has only found support so far from a relatively narrow Democratic group of people. Yes, Rosenberger is a good Democrat, and he has gotten most of the Democratic organizations to endorse him. And he has a handful of Democratic electeds as well.

However, Hara is also a Democrat, and most of the Democratic organizations have given dual endorsements to both Hara and Rosenberger. As have some of the Democratic electeds on Rosenbeger's list.

Since most readers of this board support the REPUBLICANS, it is very important to note that Hara is the only candidate with REPUBLICAN endorsers, and he has a LOT of them.

3. I know both Hara and Rosenberger pretty well. Rosenberger is a good guy, but he simply lacks Hara's management experience.

Moreover, Lloyd Hara, very simply put, is the single most accessible elected official in King County. Michele's post @ 1 is very typical of how Lloyd operates.

Lloyd is a good Democrat, but when executing the duties of his office, he has exasperated us several times by refusing to be partisan when we have called on him to do so. We saw this several times on the Port Commission. He looked us in the eye and told us he was not going to exceed his authority.

This is not a left or right thing. It is simply a matter of who has more experience and competence. In this race, that candidate is Lloyd Hara. I have his campaign sign in front of my house.
