It appears the state has made a believer out of Jim Powell. I'm going to take a wild guess and say he's going to vote for Susan Hutchison this November.
Excellent column, Nicole Brodeur.

This is just a pointless anecdote and Jim Powell strikes me as a clueless whiner. It also looks like Nicole Brodeur has run out of ideas for columns.
BTW, we have three cars in our family and I've renewed the tabs by mail for as long as I can remember (at least 10 years) without a single problem. Just renewed my driver's license the same way and got the new one in less than two weeks.
Posted by: scottd on September 29, 2009 08:11 AMAs you also know, if we don't like our private insurance, we always have the option of opting out, but some people -- you included, I'm sure -- would like to change that.
I do my tabs online, where despite the convenience, I have watched the cost of my tabs climb steadily every year -- that's another government concern, Scotty (even though I'm sure the money went to TOTALLY ESSENTIAL government services). And I waited months for my business license, even though I did all the work online myself, and all they had to do was process it and accept my money. Scott, it's about the cost of government and its inevitable, growing encroachment on your life. You can't opt out of tabs or the DOL as costs spiral every year -- would you like to make insurance the same?
Posted by: gulliver on September 29, 2009 10:05 AMBrodeur, apparently out of ideas, wrote a column about a guy who mailed in his car tab renewal, waited for them a little longer than usual, but received them eight days before his old ones expired. Apparently, he was sweating bullets the whole time, over car tabs! Brodeur says he felt like a "wanted man" -- although it's not clear who wanted him and what for. Maybe he's wanted for a clinical study on anxiety disorders.
For some reason, Mark thinks this story is related to health care reform. I'm not sure why.
