Luckily I don't think anyone will need to be asking that question any time soon because King County Executive candidate Dow Constantine's erstwhile dream of county run passenger ferries sailing across Lake Washington died this past summer. So why do I bring it up again?
Well, back in July there was a lot of he said she said over the controversial birth of the project. Councilmember Kathy Lambert stated that the only reason she voted for it initially was as a trade for Constantine's vote for a much needed flood district in South King County (a necessity that has become more apparent in recent weeks). Constantine countered the claim saying she was flat wrong and trying to rewrite history. But now recent emails have surfaced that appear to corroborate Lambert's claim. In one dated Nov 9, 2007 Dow says flat out "I am prepared to vote against the flood district and mental health tax."
Wow Dow! It's nice to know you care so much about the good folks of Auburn and the most vulnerable in our society that you'd sell them down the river (literally) for a couple of ferry boats. (And all this time they keep telling me it's the Republicans who hate the poor and mentally ill.) I sure hope that you don't plan on continuing this trend if elected.

Posted by: Jacob on October 15, 2009 05:14 PMI had been surprised and perplexed to read last week or so that Councilwoman Lambert (my councilperson) had voted for this foot-ferry thing (an issue I have not followed at all closely). This explains her vote. Because it wasn't making sense to me before. But now I have to wonder why anyone in South King County would ever vote for someone as abusive as Dow Constantine. (Remember the abusive CAO that he also supported? No suburban KC voter should vote for this guy) Stop Dow before he abuses again!
