Open breakfast briefing by KC Health Preparedness Manager
If you are wondering how King County is preparing/responding to the flu pandemic, there is an opportunity Thursday morning to hear Bryan Heartsfield, Preparedness Health and Medical Operations Manager for King County. Bryan will be reviewing the current situation and discuss action the health department may take if the situation gets worse. His presentation will be part of a larger panel advising employers on legal issues relating to managing a workforce during the flu pandemic.
For more information and to RSVP, here is the invitation.
Full disclosure: Because I am interested in the subject, I organized the event and I will be on the panel.

1. I don't see any numbers dealing with the swine flu contributing to any numbers greater than a normal flu season. Hopefully, this will continue to be true. A possible crisis passing with little cause and effect.
2. The mass hysteria numbers have been up.
Since just before the 2008 elections.
3. Please excuse the interjection and change of subject, but perhaps it would be appropriate today for SP to have a topic reflective of Veterans' Day?...Pudge?
4. Daniel, in terms of deaths swine flu hasn't been particularly bad, but it has spread a lot easier than your typical flu. If it were to mutate (or, evolve) into something deadly we'd have a serious crisis on our hands. So you might as well get vaccinated.
5. @4 JJ...Not True. The common flu spreads more easily and is responsible for more deaths than the Swine Flu. The Swine Flu has been pumped up to the extreme and even reporting flu cases in general as though they were all Swine Flu. This is standard media sensationalizing game-play in order to sell their screed along with various Government entities to show how vital they are to Society and you should be proud to allow them to grow and gladly pay increase taxes. What a Joke! This is similar to the Avian Influenza/Bird Flu crisis. So get REAL! Naah, for get it...You're a Liberal!
6. "The common flu spreads more easily"
Well, that isn't true.
