Any climate news? Part 2 - ABC, CBS, NBC

Do the old big three networks have any news about climate? They have lots of news about the elite world leaders and their upcoming gathering in Copenhagen. But nothing about the scandal of ClimateGate disclosed in the emails. Nothing? So says Julia Seymore at Business and Media Institute.

Julia Seymore at BMI - 12 Days, 3 Networks and No Mention of ClimateGate Scandal:

It's been nearly two weeks since a scandal shook many people's faith in the scientists behind global warming alarmism. The scandal forced the University of East Anglia (UK) to divulge that it threw away raw temperature data and prompted the temporary resignation of Phil Jones of the university's Climate Research Unit.

Despite that resignation and calls by a U.S. senator to investigate the matter, ABC, CBS and NBC morning and evening news programming has remained silent - not mentioning a word about the scandal since it broke on Nov. 20, even as world leaders including President Barack Obama prepare to meet in Copenhagen, Denmark next week to promote a pact to reduce greenhouse gases.

Other news outlets, including The New York Times, Washington Post, CNN and Associated Press have deemed ClimateGate worthy of reporting, but the networks were too busy reporting on celebrity car accidents and the killer whale that ate a great white shark. Instead of airing a broadcast news segment that might inform the public about the science scandal, both ABC and CBS relegated the story to their Web sites. There was one mention of the scandal on ABC's Sunday talk show: "This Week with George Stephanopoulos."

OK. One mention on three networks over 12 days on a news opinion show, not the straight news.

The East Anglia Climatic Research Unit's director Phil Jones stepped down while he is be being investigated.

Albert Gore, Jr.'s favorite Michael Mann is under investigation by his university, Penn State.

So what? The entire Kyoto/Copenhagen need to hobble our economy is based on the "research" of these people. BMI's climate science adviser says this is not a smoking gun, but a mushroom-shaped cloud.

Brian? Katie? Whoever else anchors their news?

The Seattle Times finally put it high on their web edition; don't know where it is in the print edition. But they cast it as a political ploy of Republicans in Congress. Are there climate scientists who have something to say about this? Yes. Couldn't find them, eh, Times? How about Prof. Mann?

Honorable Jay Inslee says the e-mails somehow aren't stopping the Arctic from warming. What is your source of data, Congressman Inslee? Oh, the definitive source, of course. The IPCC's data from Phil Jones's CRU?

Any climate news? Part 1

1. Al Gore just canceled a 3,000 ticketed event in Copenhagen.

This scandal is killing the press also.

It's a win-win.

4. Specific Scientists have placed themselves in the position of Gods. Having used their influence granted through tax payers’ dollars, they have abused the trust afforded to them placing a dark cloud over the scientific community as a whole. Surely, science will recover from this event as time heals all wounds.

‘Truth is the daughter of time’ was forgotten by this specific Scientific Fiefdom, but acknowledgment of other traditional philosophies which built science to the current respect also have been ignored, such as “Science has no place in politics, religion, entertainment, fame and wealth”. Often, however, such important socially advancing fields as science need set backs and thus force both current and potential abusers to fall back to traditional thinking. This is the nature in the evolution of human thought and growth.

Recent events show the denial by these abusers of social trust, along with their followers, of the devastating magnitude of their deceptive and deviant activity while trying to maintain their stature in civilization. This denial will continue dragging the entire scientific community into the pit. Unfortunately, a self awakened reality of their misdeeds likely will not appear until admission followed by humility becomes obvious to society. Forgiveness is the divinity of our civilization but forgetting never can be allowed.

5. Now the believers are pushing "Meatless Mondays".

If this wasn't a religion before, it sure as hell is now.

6. Watch the liberal choir come on here with the meme "It's just a handful of emails. The concensus by the majority of scientists still is that there is global warming." I've already watched that talkpoint start to emerge on other boards.

What they won't mention is that this "majority" reached their conclusions at least partially based on research that is now proven to be fraudulent, and that many, if not most of those same scientists are now re-evaluating their opinions and asking for more data.

(Which, of course, the researchers under investigation can't provide because they supposedly dumped it.)

7. Lets get Real!...This AGW/Climate Change was a make believe pumped up Fraud from the very beginning. It is a LIE perpetrated by the One World Government Elites such as, the UN, as a Tool to Tax and Control the peoples of the World. Nothing Less! The bought and paid for Junk Scientist working for Government and Government subsidized Entities represented by the Universities etc., were given an agenda to promote this Fraud. These Junk Scientist will Fraudulently promote anything the Government wants. After all, they are being paid to represent whatever Phony science Government wants to promote. Now, some of this massive Fraud is coming to Light. Thank God!

Posted by: Daniel on December 3, 2009 09:52 AM
8. Daniel @ #7: You have it only half right. The UN doesn't give a sh*t about "control" it's about siphoning trillions of dollars from the successful west, under the guilt of CO2 emissions and rising seas from prosperity, to third world mud holes who's dysfunctional governments can't figure out how to make their populations productive enough to tax them for larger all encompassing government (and attendant corruption). So they'll build those governments with western guilt money. If they collapse the living standard of the west in the bargain, that's OK too. By that point the money transfer will be largely complete and the west will be put in its place.

9. Here's comedy / faux newsman Jon Stewart. He usually gets brought in to make light of a crisis for damage control.

It's widening. And the rumor is that there's more being withheld, and that it will be released at another timely point, a la Breitbart and the ACORN scandal.

11. @8, G Jiggy...It's about time you Wake Up! The UN most certainly DOES give a Great Deal about "Control". What do you think the UN peacekeepers are all about? Yes, the worthless Blue Helmeted peacekeepers sent to various Third World Countries to keep the peace and protect Society from lawless thugs and cut and run if they are ever seriously confronted and leave that Society to be slaughtered by the thugs. The Blue Helmeted peacekeepers are the Army of the UN and we and others are paying for this waste of money yet, growing threat to our future sovereignty.

Your are correct in realizing the UN wants to Tax the West and any Country of the World to fund it's growth, power and takeover of the World. After all, it's all about Power and Money. Watch out for the growing all consuming UN for it's ultimate Aim is to one day Rule the World!

Posted by: Daniel on December 3, 2009 10:45 AM
12. And Obow-ma and his henchman pretend that it's nothing and plan to sign away our sovereignty anyway. This is why the dinosaur media have made themselves irrelevant. They are now Pravda. Plain and simple.

Thank goodness for the internet. The old media are a complete sham. They really do deserve the jab of "State-run media".

14. Did you hear about the huge corruption in Denmark's cap-and-trade system? Yes, the same country where Copenhagen is. In the days leading up to the conference, Denmark is rushing to stop their own cap-and-trade fraud by enacting even more laws.

Gawd, this is funny. Buying and selling air has all kinds of funny side effects.

19. Oh, come on, guys, give these climate change folks a break. They are actually true capitalists, at least the highly visible ones, as most of them have invested heavily in the whole AGW game. They stand to make fortunes, especially Al boy, and who knows how deep and high up it goes? They all have a lot riding on the cap and trade rip-off. They will be making themselves rich on the very system they are so diligently trying to destroy. The only thing they are concerned with is that they make their money before it all goes to hell.

Posted by: katomar on December 3, 2009 02:58 PM
20. I think Al is done. He just canceled his $1,200 per handshake event in Copenhagen in which 3,000 Danes bought tickets. He was at a book signing in Chicago last week and got deluged with questions from skeptics.

If Barack has any sense, he'll cancel his trip too.

Next up... NASA!

Did you know that in 1988 James Hansen had a talk with a reporter from the Washington Post:

"If what you're saying about the greenhouse
effect is true, is anything going to look different down there in 20 years (which would be 2008)?"

"The West Side Highway [which runs along the Hudson River] will be under
water. And there will be tape across the windows across the street because
of high winds. "

-

And yet people still hang on his every word.

As for the Left's silence... Dems by 48% to 32% now think the AGW science is fraudulent.

Anyway, we're now demanding NASA's data and emails. We own it after all.

Hey, he's flipped on other things. I can dream.

2. Gavin Schmidt at NASA is also linked with this scandal

3. Tom Karl at NOAA National Climatic Data Center is also linked in this scandal

4. James Hansen at NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies and advisor to AL GORE is also linked with this scandal

5. Multiple professors at numerous colleges are also linked with this scandal

It sounds to me that the government has bought and paid for a crisis to implement their solution.

28. Alot of these folks (including (Al Gore) have egg on their faces. Obama doesn't care he will go to copenhagen regardless.

29. Looks like another 'ignore it and hope it goes away' strategy by the Obamunists.

Posted by: Palouse on December 4, 2009 07:42 AM
30. Ever notice that all Obama does is talk? He's not interested in any actual solutions. Today he's going to "talk the economy back to life." Good luck with that. No one is listening to the President read from his teleprompter. Real solutions to rising unemployment and a failing economy would require real corrective actions. History tells us exactly what these corrective actions are, but Obama won't take any of them.

Cap and Trade is dead for now, but Obama will be going to Copenhagen to talk, because that's what he does best.

Posted by: Jeff B. on December 4, 2009 07:58 AM
31. Eventually, the empty suit, the Ly'in Hawaiian, president teleprompter will have to produce something with regard to the obama depression. The daily kos, moveon.org and his other constituencies will demand that he pursue other initiatives "to save the planet" so he is under some pressure to further harm the economy (by people who would like to de-industrialize our nation). Pursuant to that goal, the MSM will go to any lengths to avoid calling into question the data underpinnings of the ACG scam. Too bad for them. The facts won't go away and any initiatives "the messiah" produces that will gain applause from his marxist cheering section are likely to be noxious to the rest of America. The more the MSM tries to cover for the messiah the more they drive independent minded folks to news sources that are not controlled by leftist gate keepers.
That's why viewer ratings for CNN and MSNBC are in constant fall. Three years is a long time, and lefties circling the wagons around the incompetent one is looking pretty hilarious. Their caucaus of cretins are going to start getting a little edgy and nervous over being associated with the messiah as elections draw near.........

32. Heck, even the UN claims they're gonna launch an investigation. So, the UEA is, Penn State is, and the UN is, but the President? No. He thinks everything is fine, and he's supposed to be the science president.

Posted by: Gary on December 4, 2009 09:52 AM
33. I couldn't agree more Attila. Gee what a big surprise that the mainstream media is simply not reporting Climategate. "Global warming" "climate change" has been revealed as the hoax we conservatives believed it was all along. It is their worst nightmare. It also confirms one of my beliefs about leftists. They cannot admit that they have been wrong. They never do. The left isn't exactly made up of honest people. I never has been.

Posted by: Bill Cruchon on December 4, 2009 09:52 AM
34. 'Climategate' was very likely a whistleblower inside the CRU at East Anglia U., and one Andrew Bolt has a post up with some very logical enquiries and deductions on exactly who the whistleblower was. A climate scientist with a conscience!

I know, this is religion and logic is always trumped by it, but for the intellectually curious, here's where you too can see what the Seattle Times will never publish:

http://blogs.news.com.au/heraldsun/andrewbolt/

Plus, you get an added bonus of time travel. Bolt's an Australian, so you get tomorrow's news today.

Posted by: Insufficiently Sensitive on December 4, 2009 10:33 AM
35. One can clearly tell that the FOI2009.zip file was organized by a knowledgeable insider. Someone combed through the mail server and pulled the emails together either to satisfy the FOI request, or to act as a whistleblower. As someone who has experience with these matters, I can say there is no way that the emails presented are a random smattering of all emails. I have in the past, been involved in various employer/ employee issues where I was asked to provide the expertise to perform mail server database retrievals.

Once compiled, it would not take much effort at all to simply plop the FOI2009.zip file on to a torrent server or other FTP server where it would be found quickly by spiders and other watchful eyes.

We now look back on Galileo as a hero who fought valiantly for his science, even when it was against the prevailing view. Future historians will judge the UEA CRU insider as a hero to science as well. Unfortunately for Galileo, he lived life pre-Internet, and thus spent his waning years suppressed.

36. Many of the lefty commenters that have curiously disappeared often liked to say that any "Climate Change Denier" must simply be a shill for big oil. Like the rest of you, I too am still waiting for my big oil kickback check.

Ooops, the UEA CRU Emails dismiss that talking point too.

Look which companies had recently signed on to funding the AGW movement as a means for supporting the legitimacy of their Green Energy investments.

37. This is great. This AP article trying to prop up the global warming hoax:

http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=D9CCLC8O0&show_article=1

Go to the bottom and "show comments". There's like 500 comments, and like here, the Believers have dropped off the face of the earth. I scanned several pages and didn't find one Believer. The American people totally *get this* now.

Perhaps the Believers are restricted to AP journalists now.

38. The people that have promoted the global warming scam are going the way of all the Y2K screamers when the world didn't go dark on 1/1/2000. I love it that Gore has cancelled his Copenhagen appearance. He knows the game's up.

Just broadcast on tonight's NBC news.

Brian Williams introduced their story pooh-poohing "Clmate-Gate". Close with a melting glacier and a blaring sun.

Brian's story the following second......

"A record breaking early snowfall in Houston" with the usual images of kids making snowmen.

40. This hasn't exactly been a good few months for liberals. Their approval ratings continue to go down. They didn't get cap and trade legislation. Their socialist healthcare is stalled. And now, "global warming" has been shown to be the scam conservatives knew it was from the beginning. So-called climate scientists have covered up and repressed data that contradicts their agenda. Liberals are dishonest people. Do we need more evidence?

What's happening here is significant. Liberals are being exposed for what they are. Liars.

Obama is one of the biggest liars. He constantly talks about a "planet in peril" and then flies somewhere nearly every day. His "carbon footprint" is massive. He could care less. He doesn't believe in man made climate change at all. If he did he'd be teleconferencing and riding around in a bullet proof electric car. Sick of these creeps yet?

43. Background on the Copenhagen Eco-Fraud conference.

"The Copenhagen summit will bring together 16,500 people from 192 countries. People that say they are concerned about global warming caused by human activity.

These true eco-believers will ignore the recently leaked e-mails from so-called scientists which show that the most prominent experts advocating global warming theory were hiding data that showed global cooling, attempting to suppress opposing opinions and were engaged in a criminal attempt to destroy their e-mails in order to avoid a Freedom of Information request.

The Copenhagen participants could have used new technology such as video conferencing to avoid producing an estimated 41,000 tons of carbon dioxide, roughly the same as the carbon emissions of Morocco in 2006. They could have avoided laying over 1,000 miles of computer cable, 50,000 square yards of carpet, and serving more than 200,000 meals.

They might as well call the event the "Copenhagen Hypocrite Conference," because environmentalism and hypocrisy are seen together so often.

The high priest of Copenhagen and Hollywood is the Oscar, Grammy and Nobel Prize winning patron saint of global calamity, Al Gore. He claims the planet "has a fever." He doesn't talk about the fact that he is on his way to becoming a billionaire via his carbon offset businesses and government connections.

Yet he jets around the world never disclosing his blatant conflicts of interest while preaching that we ought to lower our standard of living.

Meanwhile Gore and his wife Tipper, whose children all live elsewhere, live in a sprawling 20-room mansion outside of Nashville that uses 20 times the national average in electricity, including an indoor pool costing $500/month to heat.

Gore purchased "green" electricity in 2007 to deflect some of this criticism and lower his costs and his carbon footprint, still far larger than what he's preaching.

Another global warming alarmist, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. vociferously condemned coal-produced electricity yet aggressively campaigned against a Cape Cod wind farm that would generate carbon-free electricity because the windmills were a bit too close to the Kennedy compound in Hyannis Port.

Celebrities and politicians alike justify their huge carbon footprints by buying carbon credits or offsets. Many of the companies engaged in selling these paper indulgences have been shown to be scams.

But scams can alleviate liberal guilt, especially in Hollywood."

It's not so much the premise of global climate change that I disdain, it is the asanine solutions that the Governments (i.e. US, UN) are proposing at the expense of smaller businesses/industries.
