TEA PARTY AND RELATED EVENTS JAN 13TH & 14TH (WED & THURS)

Ken Morse, one of the key leaders of the Tea Party movement in Washington state (and proud co-sponsor of our 2010 initiative "Save The 2/3's Vote For Tax Increases") wanted everyone to have the opportunity to see this.

To: Tea party people in Washington State
From: The Olympia Tea Party - Bounded by Principle, Committed to Action.
Re: TEA PARTY AND RELATED EVENTS JAN 13TH & 14TH

We have had an incredible summer, fall and winter! We have thrown a major monkey wrench into the "Progressives" plans for breaking and "transforming" American into their image. There is much yet to be done but let's not forget how much we have accomplished.

1. Wednesday (Tonight) Jan 13th - 5 PM no-host social; 6 PM Dinner with Dr. Bob Basso (aka Thomas Paine) at Oscars Restaurant 8726 South Hosmer St Tacoma, WA 98444-1837 (253) 548-2419 Tickets at the door are $40 or $70 for two. This is a rare opportunity for you to meet and talk with Bob who is a leading figure in the tea party movement. Charlie Land (KLAY talk show host) will MC this event. Just show up at the door, or if you would like to reserve your spot then email olympiateaparty@gmail.com. Seating is limited.

2. Thursday, Jan 14th 9:00 AM - Legislative Training with Sharon Hanek (Research mom), at the Washington Center for the Performing Arts 512 Washington St. SE Olympia, WA 98501-1330 360-753-8586 FREE. Just show up.

3. Thursday, Jan 14th Noon to 1:00 PM Q & A Session with Representatives at Senate Hearing Room #1 at the Cherberg Bldg at the State Capitol. Ken Morse will be fielding questions from our Representative regarding the tea party movement and will ask Representative how the tea party can better work with the legislature. Ken is not speaking on behalf of the tea party movement but will share his perspective and observations. Seating is limited and tea party groups are encouraged to send a representative to meet with their Representatives in this informal setting.

4. Thursday, Jan 14th Noon, Sovereignty Winter Fest starts on the North Steps of the Legislative Building. Organized by Tawnya Nourse and Citizens for HJM 4009. The Olympia Tea Party encourages all to attend this important event.

5. Thursday, Jan 14th 2:00 PM The Time for Talk is Over, an action plan to take back America with Dr. Bob Basso at the Washington Center for the Performing Arts. Ticket Price is $7.00 (includes the $2.50 WA Center Service Fee). Bob's presentation is not just another tea party rally, we are going to have an interactive town hall meeting and get people involved. Tea party organizers will particularly benefit from seeing how Bob motivates and gets people involved.

6. Thursday, Jan 14th 6:30 PM (a repeat of the afternoon showing) The Time for Talk is Over, an action plan to take back America with Dr.

Important - the Rev. Wayne Perryman (author & prominent black minister in the Seattle area) will be our first speaker at "The Time for Talk is Over". We have asked Rev. Perryman to talk about including ethnic groups in tea party activities. He spoke at our June 27th Tea Party Picnic at Heritage Park this summer and we are honored to have him back for the event with Bob Basso.

Important - there are three ways to get tickets to the 2:00 or 6:30 PM event with Bob Basso at the Washington Center
1) The easiest is to go on line at www.washingtoncenter.org and print your ticket at work or home.
2) If you call the box office they will hold the ticket for you ( "will-call") but you will have to pick them up on the way in
3) You can walk up and purchase tickets just before the event, but there may be a log jam getting in at the last minute.

Also - the free DASH shuttle goes within one block of the Washington Center. Get off at Starbucks by Sylvester Park and walk one block east down Legion Way SE and turn left onto Washington Street. You can't miss it.

There may be other events going on as far as we know. The Olympia Tea Party (OTP) has made every effort to schedule its events so as not to interfere with other events. OTP endorses the Sovereignty Winter Fest and encourages as many as possible to attend. Tawnya has done a fantastic job of putting together the 10th Amendment rally and we applaud her for her hard work and organization skill. Good job Tawnya, Joni and the rest of your team! When one of us succeeded, we all succeed.

Yours truly,

Ken Morse and the Olympia Tea Party Team.

1. The First National Tea Party Convention wll be held February 4-6, 2010 at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel in Nashville, TN.

The cost to go and see our maverick Sarah is only $549.00.

The convention is aimed at bringing the Tea Party Movement leaders together from around the nation for the purpose of networking and supporting the movements' multiple organizations principle goals.

2. How classy. Folks trying to sponge money by latching onto the Tea Party movement.

And "only" $549 to take part in the "National Tea Party" convention. What a bargain!

3. The flipside to freedom is responsibility. You can't have one without the other. Freedom is the better side to talk about, in terms of marketability. But we can't ignore the other side of the coin.

Responsibility and integrity, these are the essential values which make the idea of freedom so great. If you have only freedom, then one becomes free to rip people off.

Sadly, that's what makes Tim Eyman such a bad poster child for freedom. He enjoys freedom (great), he wants us all to share in it (greater still), but he clearly illustrates its caveats.

Our movement can do better. Our movement DESERVES better.

4. @3,

Dude, at least Mr. Eyman is doing something about the situation, no matter what your personal feelings about the man are. What are you doing besides complaining?

5. FurryOldGuyJeans...AD is a Liberal and probably, works for Government and lives off of whatever Government can Steal from the Taxpayers. His kind is scared to death of Tim Eyeman who has proved capable of restraining runaway Government from Stealing even more of the Taxpayers' earnings. Government is becoming more of a Crime Family preying on Society than, a service to Society.

6. @5,

I know AD by his words on previous topics, so know he hates someone "fighting City Hall".

But thanks for confirming what I had previous surmised. :)

7. He also claimed that he was unfamiliar with the "Tea Party movement," when asked by a reporter.

Yeah, right........

8. Worst thing the Tea Partiers can do is get more organized. It functions best as a "reform the government" movement, not a political party.

Like it or not, the US is a two party system and with the cash out there with lobbyists, it will stay that way.

If you organize, you have to start paying and that means going out there and begging for money instead of volunteer donations.

Just saying.

9. Gee...swatter...If the Tea Party became part of a New Party, that's a Bad Thing? In fact, at this time just, ask/require any Political Candidate as to whether, he supports the Tea Party's positions and Vote accordingly. In time, and maybe rather Quickly, a number of Political Candidates will be joining/supporting the Tea Party's positions and Guess What? A new a New American Party is formed. Maybe, "American Party" should be the name of a newly formed Third Party.

Posted by: Daniel on January 14, 2010 08:15 AM
10. And we should all live in Pandora or whatever the name of the place in avatar movie.

Don't me silly on the third party thing. Trust me. It doesn't work out and I was a Perotista his first run at it and I observed the Washington Republican party and its third party offshoot destroy government in this state where we now have a one party system.

No thanks. I'll stick with the Eyman system and work within the ranks for better or worse. You won't catch me on a 3rd party. Let the Democrats get their 3rd party and destroy that agenda, not the other way around.

Posted by: swatter on January 14, 2010 08:20 AM
11. Get Real!...swatter. You don't have to leave the Initiative/Eyman system in forming a third Party. In fact, the third Party would support, hands down, the Right of the Initiative. The two Parties we have now are most certainly Not, doing the needed job for the Country. The two Parties that is suppose to represent us, do NOT! It is either get a third Party into being and quickly, or goodbye America!

Posted by: Daniel on January 14, 2010 08:32 AM
12. Conservative third parties only benefit the reds.

Clinton was elected twice to the presidency but never cracked above 49% of the vote. Why?

Because folks threw their votes away by pulling the lever for Ross Perot.

It is much better for people to remain engaged with the republican party and to insist on accountability from republican candidates.

No more Fred Jarretts.

15. Oops!sorry for the double post.

16. Wrong...Attila. What was attempted in the past, was various Weirdos wanting to wave their Flags. What we need, is to put forth a Party that truly represents America. We need a Clean beginning, springing from a base of aware and concern Citizens who will put together a Strong Choice from the Corrupt Thrash we are now, forced to choose from.

Posted by: Daniel on January 14, 2010 08:47 AM
17. The history of third party movements in the U.S. is generally one of dismal failure. Go ask John Anderson, Ross Perot, Ralph Nader, etc.

The tea party movement is good for conservatism and is good for America. That said, I'm not going to take any chances regarding a second Obama term.

Posted by: Attila on January 14, 2010 09:26 AM
18. As said before...Those people were Weirdos. They were self-serving Weirdos and self-aggrandizing Egotists. They were the ones to start their own Movement and pushed themselves as the representative Leader. They failed because, they didn't connect with the majority of Americans and rightly so. Again, they were Weirdos. The growing Tea Party is different. It is not designed and brought forth by a particular Individual. It is made up of more and more concerned Americans and fast becoming the majority of Americans as they watch as America tanks. Out of this growth and concern, will be the joining of various Politicians as well as, members of the Tea Party getting into politics. As this current Disaster unfolds, we can no longer continue to be limited with the two Loser Parties we are limited with. If America is to survive, we must have a changing of the Guard replaced with something New and not, the same old, same old.

I'm aware of your legitimate concerns of the Vote being drained off to where, a second Obama term may become a disastrous Reality...But, I believe that Obama is becoming such a Disaster so quickly, that only the few will continue to support him. I feel that the Tea Party numbers and support will be so great, that those who are aware that the Political winds have shifted, will join the Tea Party. They may, at first, cling to their Party's Identity as well as identifying with the Tea Party but, in time, a good number will simply join or state that the concerns of the Tea Party comes first over any other Party affiliation.

Yes, a Republican who supports the concerns of the Tea Party, will run successfully for President next time around and defeat Obama. I think this is because, the Tea Party will not run a Presidential Candidate this next go around. However, they will run a number of Candidates for lessor offices and eventually for the President.

Posted by: Daniel on January 14, 2010 10:31 AM
19. Their sucess ratio to republicans for politicians was at one point as follows R's 18%. Tea Party support 36%!I would not be surprized if those #s went up in favor fo Tea Party. They are simply keeping the republicans on target who are more conservative in their values a good thing as I see it.

Posted by: Laurie on January 14, 2010 11:57 AM
20. And so, how do you explain the ventura third party win? Good for one shot but bad after that.

And then throw in the lobbyists who just won't go for a 3rd party.

Don't be so idealistic. Go for the real gold and ignore the fool's gold.

Posted by: swatter on January 14, 2010 12:59 PM
21. I have never listened to a group less informed of how national politics actually work.

In America there is only 10% of the population in play (5% left of center, 5% right of center). The Tea Party is hard-right ideologically. So my question is, how will you attract moderates to your cause? In case you're wondering, Obama signs with a Hilter mustache won't work.

Enjoy the fringe and your silly hats.

23. @20 & 21 swatter/Tim...Apparently, you can't grasp the tremendous ground swell of discontent rising in America. Your example of Ventura proves such a thing can be possible in a State election. However, this is far bigger than a State election, this is National. "Throw the Bums out" is being heard more and more. As the American lifestyle and economy decays, the number of Americans that support the Tea Party will increase substantially. Even now, the Tea Party is a Stronger and more recognized Force than, any Third Party of the Past and it is just, the beginning of its growing National popularity.

Just a thought...If Sarah Palin would step in and become the Tea Party's nominee for the President. Do you think that she would have a chance?

25. Daniel at 23: "If Sarah Palin would step in and become the Tea Party's nominee for the President. Do you think that she would have a chance?"

You answered your question previously:

"Those people were Weirdos. They were self-serving Weirdos and self-aggrandizing Egotists. They were the ones to start their own Movement and pushed themselves as the representative Leader. They failed because, they didn't connect with the majority of Americans and rightly so. Again, they were Weirdos."

26. kb...You're a Liberal Simpleton...PERIOD! You can't follow a simple thought process. The Weirdos were the ones who started their own movement...Sarah Palin did not start the Tea Party movement...Get it? Try reading the commentary again and maybe it will come to you. Naah...For get it...You're too DUMB!

27. Thanks for leading our huge efforts this week Tim.
With your support and our hero Matt Shea, we'll take back our sovereignty from the communists in the national government. Soon all will see the power of the TEA Party.

28. AH, I see. If anyone disagrees with you, they must be liberal. My voting record would disagree with you, sir.

I think you need to re-read the relevant parts of your post...

"They were self-serving Weirdos and self-aggrandizing Egotists...They failed because, they didn't connect with the majority of Americans and rightly so."

She took an oath to serve her citizens, but ditched 'em so she could set her self up for President. That's not honorable in my book, and one of the many reasons she wouldn't do any better than Perot.

29. #28 - you are likely someone who would refer to Tea Party goers as "teabaggers" - If you did- I would respond - you should know from your experience with your gay lover.

30. KDS @ 29: You can respond when you have something intelligent to say after you get out of the high school locker room and respond like an adult.

31. kb @ 30 - what's the matter, does the truth hurt ? BTW -My last thread did not apply to you if you did not use the term "teabagger" go back and read it carefully, which you evidently didn't do. My comment was based upon the definition of "teabagger" and the intended use by the media - look it up for yourself.

A number of us have had enough of the toxic innuendo coming from the left and its time for them to pay the price for their dishonest and mean spirited commentaries.

Posted by: KDS on January 16, 2010 06:22 PM
32. KDS @ 31: Thank you for a decent response. No, I did not nor do I use the word "teabagger". I share many of the ideals of the Tea Party movement; I just don't think Sarah Palin should be the one to lead it. The reason so many third-party movements fail is they run some national figure for President right off the bat without building a coherent grass-roots structure AND develop leaders from within by winning local & state races.

Posted by: kb on January 16, 2010 07:57 PM
33. I do not believe that Sarah Palin would be that strong of a candidate for POTUS, but she could be a good tea party keynote speaker and play a role in endorsing the GOP candidate. Her favorable/unfavorable ratings are not that good (44%/47%).

Hopefully, the Tea Party will not be a third party splinter movement and they will serve more like bringing out worthy candidates and serving like Paul Revere warning the masses that people cannot be complacent while the future of this country goes to h**l due to the big government corruption and greed and arrogance shown by those who have elected to serve us - reminiscent of when Nero fiddled while Rome burned, except DC is fiddling while the USA is sinking into being a second world county, etc.
