Should We Invite President Obama Out To Campaign For Senator Murray?

Or would that be too obvious?

3. By all means, and let's hope he is as successful as he was with the Olympics, Copenhagen, Deeds, Corzine, and Coakley. And Health Care reform.

4. Wonder if Patty will return his call?

5. There's quite a difference between beating a terrible campaigner in a special election, and unseating a multi-term incumbent Senator in a very blue state. Not saying it can't happen, but I doubt it.

Look at it like this. As unpopular as Obamacare is, if Ted Kennedy was alive and on the ballot yesterday, he still wins.

I don't know if we have a Washington version of Scott Brown either.

6. Don't get carried away. Check Murray's approval ratings (55%) - am sure they will be coming down and also check Obamy's approval ratings here - they are likely still above 50% thanks to the high concentration of Obatomized masses that reside in the Socialist Republic of WA with a smiley face.

Agreed with the last post on what is really needed here - a strong candidate with an R after their name - good luck with finding that needle in the haystack.

7. Oh goodness, now Obama says in an interview that where things went wrong is that essentially the American people didn't understand what he was doing. No, Obama, they got all too well what you're doing---with your backroom deals and favors, exemptions for some favored liberal groups from taxes and not others, takeovers of their medical care ultimately...etc.

He still doesn't get it.

9. Murray is vulnerable and YES, I hope and pray she invites "the chosen one", "the messiah" to campaign for her. Please. Every cretin at HA. Please write to the the White House and demand the empty-suited nitwit campaign for Murray. Please.

I particularly look forward to her explanations for her support of the second louisiana purchase, the cornhusker buy-off, and the sweet deal her party offered unions for their support of obamacare.
She will surely claim she did not support or know about any of those things and the people will finally stop believing the idiot in tennis shoes.

10. Murray likes to tell us we are too dumb to understand... that's exactly the dismissive arrogant attitude that lost Taxachusetts for the dems.

O'bambi's mocking of the 'truck' served to remind us all of his snarky ugliness about bitter clinging to God and guns.

Heck yea, bring him on.... early and often. We pay for his hopeydopeyness, we should demand that he show up on behalf of Senator tennyshoes... maybe he can address our growing unemployment and dropping home values for the chrissyqueen while he's at it... if he can entice her out of her hole....while blaming Bush

"Agreed with the last post on what is really needed here - a strong candidate with an R after their name - good luck with finding that needle in the haystack."

What we need is a strong Conservative candidate. Voters in Washington State have already had the experience of the Washington State Republican Party running candidates with a R after their name who simply share their Liberalism, the justifiably criticized RINOs and LIARs.

The WSRP has just as much of a lesson to take away from Scott Brown's campaign and electoral victory as the Democrats.

14. Make sure he brings Clinton along, too. Yesterday's vote was against the arrogance coming out of DC. Former mayor Nickelbag had the same attitude towards snow removal that Obummer has towards Obamacare: "The peasants just don't understand what a terrifc job I'm doing."

15. Like her or not Patty brings home the bacon to her supporters. Lots of folks here still hold their own self interests paramount when compared to the greater good.

The question is will the people of Western Washington be willing to throw her under the bus knowing it may mean losing that earmark.

The people of Eastern Wa did this when then booted Foley.

The people of Mass did that last night

Are the people of Seattle ready to do that?

I don't see it yet.

Posted by: daveo on January 20, 2010 07:01 PM
16. We've touched upon their ugly arrogance ... repeatedly...and they refuse to see themselves.

Evidence from The Seattle Weekly

Murray? Well she's only a three-time incumbent in a state with a weakened GOP whose most high-profile challenger thus far farms dirt and believes the nation's capitol is rife with communists. Trouble? What trouble?

They don't listen.
They don't care.
They don't learn.
They are arrogant.

Posted by: RagnarDanneskjold on January 20, 2010 07:24 PM
17. As usual the Seattle Weekly inserts foot in mouth, "...challenger thus far farms dirt"...ummm, wouldn't that be farms crops, as in FOOD? Oh excuse my ignorance, food comes from the grocery store so let's ban farming altogether and buy South American. Yesh.

19. I'm afraid a sad majority of people in western Washington continue to suckle at the teat labeled hope. How can we expect much when there is an alarming number of people here in Seattle that continue to re-elect Jim McDermott!

Posted by: Cal on January 20, 2010 08:32 PM
20. I would like to add to Mitch at 18. Rs have good people as candidates, just not "knock them dead" types.

To beat Murray, you have to create a "buzz" more than announcing your candidacy. Especially if you don't have name familiarity.

Posted by: swatter on January 21, 2010 07:43 AM
21. Mitch, as for getting a good candidate, there's this radio talk show guy that has some time on his hands now. Knows the issues, can put them in lay terms well and can organize foot soldiers.

23. One possible decent GOP candidate to run against Murray is Chris Widener from Issaquah - google him for further information. It looks like he may have some gravitas and somewhat of a war chest.

If he resembles Scott Brown, there might be a glimmer of hope. I believe that Scott Brown could win here, but he was articulate and had a good political sense, unlike almost all Republicans I have noted in recent years in WA.

24. Last week at taxpayer-supported NPR.org, a wonkette gloated that she used your money to provide a teabag lexicon for NPR's liberal listeners. NPR's 'How to Talk Teabag' went something like this: ... blah blah blah socialist socialist socialist nazi nazi nazi ...

Here, free of charge and as a public service, is something completely different, How to Talk NPR: ... blah blah Kennedy King (M.L.) King (Rodney) Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama blah blah and blah ...

And isn't it droll that NPR-lite wonks and MSNBC wonkettes are saying even today that Obama's only problem is that Obama wasn't given enough opportunities to talk to us. If only, they're writing at Newsweek, The Great Communicator had talked more, had set us straight, had told us that he was giving us Obamacare for our own good, for our salvation.

And that word "gloat"? That's straight outta Newsweek, too, where they're saying today that Michelle Malkin is wallowing in a conservative gloatfest. So unseemly. So unlike Newsweek, NPR, MSNBC, and blah blah blah.

I've been reading the Seattle Times commentary on the decision (nearly 600 comments). It's quite enlightening. A lot of anti-corporate reactionary posts of course. It's not like corporate (and union) money wasn't present in campaigns prior to this decision, but you'd never know it from these comments.

42. My wife and I were chatting about when Obama's political fortunes began to slide. We agreed that it was the night Obama attempted to throw out the first pitch at the All Star game. He was out there in his momma pants, and threw like a girl. Television tried to cover it up so no one could see his pathetic girly throw. The man clearly never climbed a tree, or played street football and baseball. I"m certain he never had a BB gun. At that moment he lost street cred with most men in America, and I don't think it did him much good with women, either. It's been all downhill from there. Then he bashes Scott Brown for driving a pickup truck. Obama does what snooty big city liberals constantly do. Completely misjudge most Americans.

Heck yes, let him come out here and campaign for Murray. Obama has become nearly a total train wreck.

44. I don't know if it was an off the cuff remark or if one of his staff came up with it, but Scott Brown had the perfect response when Obama made the remarks about his pickup:

"The leader of the free world is talking about my pickup truck."

Perfect.

45. Gary, I think the entire left is poison now. It took Obama and the overconfident bunch of socialist Saul Alinsky creeps he brought into the White House to show Americans who modern leftists are. They are old 1960's leftist hippies who ended up not wanting freedom at all, but wanting to control how we live. They control most of our cities, our schools, and our press, and have been in our faces for years. I live in Seattle and I have to get out of the city at least a couple times a year just to get away from these angry, negative people. I like going out for breakfast where you still get called "hon" and people are genuinely nice. Most of America is still like that. The ugly truth they are about to face is that they perhaps make up 20% of the voting public. One of my favorite quotes (which I have mentioned here before) is the from the New York woman who said, "How can Nixon have won? No one I know voted for him"

Posted by: Bill Cruchon on January 22, 2010 03:44 PM
46. Bill, that part of about people calling you, "hon" is a lovely sentiment, but I hope you won't be offended if I don't call you that if I happen to meet up with outside of Seattle :)

He's also poison to business. What business would be hiring when the he and Congress are attacking them constantly? What business would hire not knowing what heathcare reform or cap-and-trade have in store for them?

Today he said he wants Congress to pass a jobs bill. Gee, lovely... just like that. Seems to me they told us they did just that a year ago.

What they should pass is a "Get The Hell Off Our Backs" bill, and then there will be jobs.

Posted by: Gary on January 22, 2010 04:22 PM
47. Grin! Don't ever remember a waiter calling me "hon". But then I don't eat breakfast on Capitol Hill!

48. Bill,

You said "It took Obama and the overconfident bunch of socialist Saul Alinsky creeps he brought into the White House to show Americans who modern leftists are. They are old 1960's leftist hippies who ended up not wanting freedom at all, but wanting to control how we live."

So Robert Gates, the secretary of defense, who became the director of the CIA under George H W Bush is a lefty hippy?

Timothy Geithner the treasury secretary, formerly of Kissinger and associates and president of the NY federal reserve bank is a lefty hippy?

The career military man Eric Shinseki, currently the secretary of veterans affairs, is a lefty hippy?

I could give more examples. Can you back up your assertions with evidence? It's a good thing for you that you're not a scientist (they actually need to support their arguments with evidence).

50. So far the announced Republican candidates going against Murray are energy trader and nuclear engineer Craig Williams, Army Vet Wayne Glover, 2000 Congressional Candidate Sean Salazar, electrical engineering instructor Scott Johnson, electrician and former US Marine Rod Rieger, Motivational speaker Chris Widener, Former pro football player Clint Didier. I'm in the process of evaluating each one of these candidates for 11/10 elections and I'm hoping we get at LEAST one viable candidate to beat the tennyrunners off Murray.

She's got a nice shiny pic on her site posing with the "National Peoples Congress". Of course, I'm looking into that diabolical group as well, but one of the individuals (out of 5) she's standing with is Senator Roland Burris, who we all know is a crook.

Norm Dicks and Patty Murray have been embroiled in an FBI investigation for taking hefty donations from a defense lobbying firm that exchanged political contributions for earmarks with more than 100 federal lawmakers. Dicks pushed for nine earmarks worth $20 million for PMA clients in the last few years. In return, he got $84,000 in contributions from PMA and authorities say some of the money came from made-up sources to skirt campaign finance laws.

The Virginia-based lobbying firm, PMA Group, was raided by the FBI and remains under federal investigation for its shady practices and profitable connections in the U.S. Congress. Founded by a former aide to Pennsylvania Representative John Murtha, PMA specializes in getting clients hundreds of millions of dollars in earmarks from the veteran legislator who chairs the powerful Defense Appropriations Committee.

Murray, a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, requested a pair of earmarks worth nearly $5 million for PMA clients last year. She got $26,000 in PMA donations that we know of. I'm sure there's more to uncover in this shady deal. I'm busy.

John Albaugh, a longtime senior staff member to Oklahoma Representative Ernest Istook, pleaded guilty to federal conspiracy for accepting gifts, dinners, drinks, thousands of dollars worth of sporting event and concert tickets and campaign contributions from Abramoff who was seeking specific transportation legislation from Congress. Albaugh faces up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

Abramoff pleaded guilty in 2006 to showering lawmakers and members of their staff with upscale European vacations, sports and entertainment tickets, expensive meals and other pricey gifts in exchange for special favors. Among those busted for accepting bribes from Abramoff is Patty Murray for a cool $41,000, which she has, as far as I know, refused to return.

Even Wolf Blitzer and CNN were "picking" on Senator Murray for taking $10,000 in campaign contributions from the executives of Infinia Corp who she earmarked 3 million dollars for in the defense budget.....

Sort of reminds you of the Guardian Marine fiasco and the helmet mounted heads-up display she earmarked for after receiving contributions as well. Those were 17 million and 6 million respectively. You remember those from the Front Line Special on earmarks, don't you? Guardian built 4 boats that nobody requested or wanted and they ended up getting sold for a dollar. The helmet displays lost the ARMY test trials and Patty got the contract awarded to them anyway and they sit in a warehouse, unused and unauthorized to be used. It appears Patty's campaign warchest is built on contibutions from daddy war bucks.

Bill Moyers, in a Front Line piece, and CNN with Wolf Blitzer just happened across three instances where Senator Murray was given large sums of campaign contributions in exchange for earmarks worth in excess of 26 Million dollars and they are "picking on her" and "strictly partisan"? Hell, they didn't even talk about the donations from the tribes she took from Jack Abramoff and then refused to return.

Patty's number one donor category is the trial lawyers. That should say it all. But it doesn't. She was, at one point, rated the #1 liberal in Congress.

According to Seattle Weekly

"she even bested Stevens in fiscal year 2008 (Oct. 2007-Sept. 2008), bringing home more than $1.3 billion in earmarks--a total surpassed in the Senate only by New York Sens. Hillary Clinton and Charles Schumer, according to the D.C.-based database Legistorm.com"

"Murray was one of the few Democrats to speak on Stevens' behalf during a tribute marking his last day in the Senate. She was one of fewer still to publicly defend his infamous "bridge to nowhere" in 2005, threatening her colleagues on the Senate floor that a vote against it would mean a grim future for their own projects."

"In 2004, as part of its annual "Best and Worst of Congress" edition, D.C.-based Washingtonian Magazine gave her first place in the "No Rocket Scientist" category"

Several individuals have tried to get her staff to investigate OSHA on an scandal that affects the health and safety of millions. Murray was the senior member of the Dept of Labor Oversight Committee at the time. Murray's staffers were very excited about the issue, and turned ice cold when they found they couldn't point the blame at Bush, but rather that the issue started during Clinton's term. After that, they wouldn't return calls or correspondence, and the problem remains today.

We've got work to do to uncover exactly what Murray's been up to "on our behalf", but I intend to get to the bottom of every last tidbit. WELL BEFORE the November 2010 elections.

She'd best start polishing up her resume and digging her tennyrunners outta the dark crevices of her closet. I hope she enjoys standing in the employment lines with the rest of us lowly peasants.

This isn't about (R) vs. (D) anymore. Our country and it's people are in SERIOUS peril right now.

I just hope people (yes, even the lefties) wake up before it's too late for us all. They're looking at things through the prism the Marxists have spent over 60 years installing. Quite effectively, I must say!

Take a look at this Congressional document, written in 1963. To understand what happened in our education system and to our young people, start at number 17 and read down from there. Then read the entire document.

You won't believe how effectively they've implemented their diabolical scheme and indoctrinated our children in the public education system and colleges. Not to mention all other aspects of our beloved Country.

It's quite the effecient coup d'état, wouldn't you say?

They'd better hope we can fix this or we're ALL dead. You can't just "borrow" bits and pieces from Communism, and with Czar John Holdren in charge of Science and Technology, we've got little time left.

Some of these czars have things that are so frightening in their past that no American in their right mind would be doing anything but fighting this mess if the they really knew what was happening right now. Many of us do know, because we've done our research.

Of course, some of us know about the mainstream media bias. After all, they're run by the Rockefellers, Rothchilds and Soros.

Czar Holdren's view of the imminent and grave global dangers posed by overpopulation should provide pause, given his current view that global warming now presents imminent and grave global dangers. We know the "Scientists" lied about the studies, but that of course falls right in line with the Marxist's plans.

And we know now that our young people educated in our public (Marxist) education system have been taught to idolize Mass murderers like Mao, Che, Stalin, Lenin and the likes. Hell, they even wear clothing with the images of these mass murderers, dictators and terrorists and perform billboard hit songs in their honor! The education system removed history from the school cirriculum years ago! They have no idea who these "people" really were!

And it's only through individual research and a few organizations on the airwaves (which have been effectively demonized by the marxists) that anybody knows anything at all about this population control freak, Czar John Holdren or any of the rest of them. It's not just the fact that he co-wrote a book in 1977, Ecoscience with Paul and Ann Ehrlich, the Eugenics gurus. Population control, a book that mused openly about mass sterilizations, forced abortions, putting sterilants in the water to control the population. It's the fact that his ideological mentors, including one of the top international eugenics members most renowned, again, for promoting these same ideas of social engineering through the guise of "science" that basically amounts to eugenics and taking away babies from "undesirables".

He was paying homage to this mentor as recently as two years ago at one of the most prominent science gatherings of the country, the AAAS gathering, and there has been little, if any public questioning about it. The Mainstream media (run by the Rockefellers, Rothchilds and Soros) have been lying to the American people and hiding the truth.

One of Czar John Holdren's quotes... "The problem with this method (Mass Sterilization and poisoning the population through the municipal water system) is GETTING THE PEOPLE TO DRINK IT."

Apparently not only was he in favor of zero population growth but also zero economic growth. He wanted a zero GDP, and here's one of the quotes in the book that he co-wrote, Ecoscience: "Population, Resources and Environment was, it is now abundantly clear that the GNP cannot grow forever. Why should it? Why should we not strive for zero economic growth as well as zero population growth."

Of course, we know they shut off the water in the California Valley, where OVER HALF of our food is grown. Remember what Communist Chairman Mao (The idol of this regime) said about the food supply back when he was killing over 70 Million of his own Countrymen, Women and Children? "TEACH THEM HOW TO EAT LESS." Yeah, you know, the guy who's face was on the White House Christmas tree ornaments this year? The one they claim to "Look up to"???

Yeah, we're screwed. I just hope people wake up in time to mitigate *some* of the damage.

No matter what, a LOT of us are going to die.

63. Sorry about the rant. It's just that so many of us know about this and it's hard to believe some still don't know.

Please watch this if you haven't yet.

65. We're hanging off the edge now, Laurie. And the mainstream media have been hiding all of it from the unsuspecting citizens.

Everyone had better hope we can fix this mess. For once in my life, I'm glad I don't have children to worry about.

Like I said... this is not about (D) vs. (R) anymore. Our Country and it's people are in serious peril.

Wake up, America.

66. Nope. You should just whine that you can't win elections.

67. Not sure to whom you talking, Jo Mamma, but the socialists will not be tolerated any more. We've had enough of this communist/marxist trash destroying what's left of our beloved country and infecting OUR house in DC and in OUR State Capitols.

Freedom is what's going to win the next elections. You'll see. Just try not to crap your pants.

69. And the game begins. Soon, myself and many of my fellow Patriots will "disappear". You're next, lefties. Don't think you're immune. You're "useless eaters" and included in the "pulsating mass of maggots" just like the rest of us.

Good luck....

"First they came ..." is a popular poem attributed to Pastor Martin Niemöller (1892–1984) about the inactivity of German intellectuals following the Nazi rise to power and the purging of their chosen targets, group after group. In Niemöller's first utterance of it, in a January 6, 1946 speech before representatives of the Confessing Church in Frankfurt, it went....

"First they came for the communists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a communist;

Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a trade unionist;

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew;

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak out."
