Great moments in government education

"State schools superintendent Randy Dorn arrested on suspicion of DUI"

Of course everyone is innocent until proven guilty. But, um, what did he blow?

UPDATE:question answered:

According to State Patrol records, Dorn took two breath tests around 3 a.m. showing a blood-alcohol level of 0.11, above the 0.08 legal limit.
Coincidentally, it was only this week that the first high school students started taking the new standardized test that Dorn instituted as a replacement to the WASL. Oddly fitting that he would end up taking a standardized test too.

Dorn admitted only that he "drank beer with dinner". But a BAC of 0.11 6 hours after dinnertime would imply that his glass was closer in size to a gallon than to a pint.

2. What did he blow? The Officer in Orting obviously, because he isn't sitting in the Pierce County Jail right now.

3. Sounds like Dorn is ready for a big time appointment to the Obongo administration.

4. Not only is there an expectation that elected State Government Officials abide by state laws (DUH!.. Hello?)but especially when it comes to Mr. Dorn, he has a moral obligation to all the students of Washington State to set an example for them. Driving under the influence is not what the highest elected education official in the state should have associated himself with. Sad...from now on his name will be associated with this offense which only serves to discredit him. He showed a HUGE lack of judgment, and although he calls it a private family matter....he gave up the word "private" when he ran for "public" office. I am disappointed in him. Shame on you Mr. Dorn.

5. The AP article I read said he blew 0.11 - 1 1/2 hours after he was pulled over. Yikes.

6. Apparently Dorn passed the WASL-

Washington St.
Alcohol
Saturation
Limit

Governor gregoire was too busy concerning herself with AG McKenna's elected office role in state government to notice apparently...

7. Well, the truth be told, we in education, as well as the state leaders already written Dorn off a year ago as not being a particularly good choice for OSPI. Just remember he was hand-picked by the WEA.

8. Words of advice I learned early on: never drink anything bigger than your head. Randy should remember that...

9. Doug,

Dorn was, as is often the case in this state, the lesser of two evils. His opponent, incumbant Terry Bergeson, had proven herself to be not only incompetent but an ideological nut. Voters were hoping Dorn was at least somewhat competent.

Washington elections often give voters the choice between hard left and Bolshevik, and that is why this state is going down fast.

10. Sal, Bergeson was definitely the better person for the job, school boards and administration officials across the state were in shock when Dorn won - we knew it would be a disaster. The teachers' union paid for his candidacy and too many conservative people decided they hated the WASL so much that they were willing to put a union lackey in charge of the schools. It is very simple, when the WEA spends campaign money on a Supreme Court position, you vote against it. When they spend money on the legislature or the SPI, then the first and correct instinct should be to vote the other way.

11. At #9,
Between hard left and Bolshevik indeed.
The question is how soon and what will it look like when we actually reach the bottom?

We are being warned not to become too alarmed. They said much the same things to Hanoverian farmers and Viennese workers in the 1930'3 and look what happened. Our rights are being seized away, and the insane people are in charge. When is it O.K. to be alarmed?

The false "choice" presented by Dorn was symptomatic of the corrupt fix (04 election and since) that the left has seized over our process in this area such that honest candidates would rather seek more productive pursuits than public office.

We shouldn't be surprised though. Bobbie Bridge, ex- "gov" Lowry and many other liberal drunks routinely drive drunk out of their minds and get away with it. Apparently they are so good for us that we must overlook their behavior while at the same time destroying our own for even the hint of political incorrectness. Dorn's misbehavior is only a symptom of much much more brash and significant misbehavior to come.

12. 1 Thessalonians 4:13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.

1 Thessalonians 4:14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.

1 Thessalonians 4:15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.

1 Thessalonians 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

1 Thessalonians 4:17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

1 Thessalonians 4:18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
