Murray supports Viagra for sex offenders

Senator Patty Murray voted Wednesday against an amendment to deny Viagra to rapists, pedophiles and other sex offenders.

Politico

Was the purpose to prevent Obama's health-care takeover bill from being sent back to the House? It is going there now anyway. But her vote stands.

1. This is getting surreal. The voters are going to annihilate the Democrats in November. I'm sure of it.

4. annihilate? Latest survey shows her well ahead of other R potential opps.

Nice political maneuver by the Rs. But, you know it was a stunt?

Once the Rs realized the Ds wouldn't play, they stopped the endless amendments and now the revised bill is at the House for their go-around.

5. "This is a serious bill. This is a serious debate. The amendment offered by the senator from Oklahoma makes a mockery of the Senate, the debate and the American people. It is not a serious amendment. It is a crass political stunt aimed at making 30-second commercials, not public policy," he said.

The bill is passed already, and signed, the only thing going to the house are amendments. Instead of proposing any real positive conservative inputs to the process as quoted elsewhere " to finance it without redistributive taxes on productive enterprise – without weighing so heavily on small business – without expanding Medicaid.. "

The proposed sensational amendments do nothing but create faux outrage for media pundits, this blog included.

6. meanie, the government is now 100% in charge. They own the whole enchilada. They have decided that your premiums must cover erectile-dysfunction drugs for rapists.

It's no longer negotiable.

This is an example of their management.

7. There is the potential for a change of power in the House, but keep in mind - 48% of this country pay NO taxes, thanks to entitlements in the name of social justice from the Democrat party. There is growing welfare/entitlement class, that is dumbing down and this country and causing increasing unrest.

It's hardly a stretch to say the policies moved forward by the Democrat Party are largely responsible for the huge deficit by the Federal Government.

8. Hey KDS, how do so many get out of paying taxes?
Come on spill the beans I want in on this entitlement!
Do tell!

9. Tax credits for those making less than somewhere between $40K and $50K - those are exempt from paying Federal Taxes represents a big part of it. I don't have the exact minimum cut-off for Federal taxation, but if you an accountant and have the specifics, please chime in.

10. Gary: I guess it has to do with if you think government should have oversight into the personal lives of people who are no longer in jail. Creating an additional bureaucracy to line item check who you, or anyone thinks should get specific coverage and why, seems to be part of why most people are against these types of plans. Yet this article and others are decrying the lack of added rules and government regulation.....

KDS: I didn't realize that corporations make up 48% of our country, but you are right, about paying no taxes and receiving entitlements. Social welfare programs currently cost around 16.5 billon annually? corporate tax breaks, grants and subsidies WITHOUT bailouts, last year were 45 billion... And now they can lobby freely without spending limits.

now i'm no mathematician, but it looks to me like these numbers ramped up starting about 2001 and hit a record high in 2008.

bonus question - which political party was that president a member of?

13. I heard Michelle Bauchman (spelling?) talking yesterday. I don't know how she measured it, but she said that in the past year, government control of the private sector has gone from 0% to 50%.

That's a number that puts Venezuela to shame.

16. Fortunately this law shall either be repealed as the first order of business by the new Republican majority in 2011, or will be found to be unconstitutional as a result of the lawsuit joined by WA Attorney General, Rob McKenna.

In any event Sen Murray will be defeated this year by two term Governor Rossi.

Like almost everything else that comes out of Ms. Bachman's mouth, its bullcrap. The government doesn't "control" the entire banking sector, or the entire auto sector, and even if they did, that would be 15% of the economy, at best.

The government REGULATES the banking industry..to prevent them from )@(%)(@ing us over again. Big difference. They invested in GM..and now GM is making a comeback with new, popular fuel efficient cars.

Remember, its the private, poorly regulated banking industry that got us into this (#@)(%)(@ mess in the first place. Government regulation is equivalent to "adult supervision"

19. Proteus,

I see, the banking industry was not regulated prior to the meltdown? Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac weren't encouraging, and Dodd and Frank legislating that banks loan to high-risk individuals? Really, that's your contention?

20. Yes, Patty -

If you had to live and pay/benefit from the fruit of your efforts, you'd be picking some sex offender's fruit right now.

Here's hoping the sex offenders you voted to enable find their recidivism at YOUR house and not ours.

Don't break your self-righteous arm patting yourself on the back, Ron. Guess you're not all that concerned about a senator owned by the abortion industry who now chooses to vote for the "rights" of pedophiles and sex perverts. Then Ron, after striking my comment, you let another commenter insult my family. You're a real class act, Hebron.

And "moanie" at 11: If you made that comment to my face regarding my sisters and daughters, you'd probably be needing some dental work real quick. And if my sisters and daughters had Murray's "traditional values", I'd disown them.

Posted by: Saltherring on March 25, 2010 07:49 PM
23. The general grasp of facts and reading comprehension makes it clear how *some* of the opinions here are being formed. If you can read a comment about modest dress, and infer "abortion industry" and family insults, the crazy has really has come to town.

Pedophiles and "sex perverts" have rights, assuming they have already served there sentences, heck some of them are prominent gay republican senators! Just like mouthy internet commenters who let ridiculous threats loose when they disagree with others, have rights.

Just kidding, "Sex perverts" isn't a real term its nonsense.

I would love to take up your offer on my dental work, having you arrested for felony assault would be a great opportunity to meet all these people your afraid of in jail. When your done being classy and disowning people.

39. You guys just will never get over what happened after then-Speaker Hastert was caught keeping Mark Foley (R-Pedophilia) fully employed at taxpayer expense, will you? I'm sure Senator Murray is kept up at night with fear of how this meaningless vote will be recalled.

Meanwhile, Rep. Dave "I Love Mark Foley" Reichert will make voting against the health care bill the centerpiece of his de-election campaign, correct? Because Democrats have prayers, too!

40. It will take an intellectual enema to remove Patty Murray from her Senate perch in the Everblue state. Am I surprised that Patty Murray, like the Democrat party drone she is, agreed to kill a bill to give sex offenders sexual stimulation pills? Not really. But then, it takes a functioning and viable cerebral cortex to think intelligently on your own and in Murray's case, that is an asset that is not readily available to her.

She is as out of her mind as the rest of the kamakaze democrats in congress. they are coming out now and admitting wanting to control people and redistribute income. It's amazing. she would, of course, vote to continue funding to kill children via abortion. But hey, let's not keep viagra from violent sex offenders now...

46. Public safety is paramount to any legislation. This should have never been included in this bill.
Who was responsible for putting this in? Had the House or Senate read this bill, this should have never seen the light of day. This is what happens when the American people are left out of the process ( televised on c-span - open debate ). There is no justification for this! Shame on you Senator Murray, Cantwell, Reps Larsen, McDermont, Baird, Smith, Inslee and Dicks. I hope you all sleep well at night. And to those who defend and re-elect these people again SHAME ON YOU !!

48. I think democrats should abort all of their children because long term there will be fewer democrats. Its a win win situation. Who knows why Patty Murray wants sex offenders to be able to
get a hard on? Maybe she really is a man? I knew Obama was going to be bad but, he has turned out way way worse than I could imagine. November should prove to be interesting.

49. Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton said in a statement that it was "deeply disturbing and runs contrary to the purpose of Medicaid, which is to provide health care coverage for uninsured, low-income individuals." Clinton, a Democrat, urged Leavitt to look into the matter, and said she would explore legislative options.
