Mainstream Media Found Dead Under Karr

Well, for all us cynics out there, let us raise our glasses of whatever poison suits us in tribute to the late mainstream media.

As we cynics so inerrantly predicted, John Mark Karr is a great big non-story. His version of the JonBenet Ramsey murder- that is, his false confession- was proven to be as dubious as his masculinity. The only thing Karr is guilty of is being a really, really creepy dude. And the mainstream media has once again proven its utter irrelevance by shoving every other important story out of the way so that millions of slathering View-drones could get their daily fix of wierdness:

"John Mark Karr idolized Michael Jackson! ... Oh, yeah, and some plane crashed in Kentucky and fifty people are dead... But John Mark Karr had his hair removed. Oh my God, this is earth shattering stuff!"

And that was just Fox.

It's hard to believe that the media could perpetrate anything more tasteless than Katy Couric shoving a camera up her ass. But I think that this tops it.

So here's to the mainstream media. May it feed many ravens in the ash heap of history.

1. I've asked my wife to keep heavy objects out of my reach when Fox runs their endless accounts of the Aruba case, the Duke lacrosse idiocy, and lately this Karr nutball.

We went for more intelligent fare last night. We watched a truly dreadful 1970's Jan Michael Vincent movie on the Speed Channel.

2. Maybe I haven't followed it enough, though I do know they didn't get a DNA match, which ended it. But how did he know details of the murder which no one else supposedly would've known except the perp? That part seemed really strange.

3. Me at #2. I think the answer to your question is that there has been well over 50 investigators looking into this case over the last ten years. Not to mention all the leaks in these days. It turned out just as I figured it would. I feel they ought to go after this guy in a civil suit to get back all the taxpayer money spent on this sicko.

5. This is a great example of why I don't pay much attention to the Mainstream Media and almost never watch television. It's all just a freak show for sensationlism and thus ratings.

One is far better off reading news on the WWW where there is no endless parade of sensational video images. Once can pick and choose the stories and geographies they want to cover. And one can improve one's reading and thus writing skills at the same time.

The Mainstream Media is dying quickly. Good riddance.
